< John 18 >
1 Having said these things, Jesus went forth with His disciples beyond the Brook of Kidron, where [there] was a garden, into which He entered, Himself and His disciples,
Jesu nakamana kwambula majwi aaya, wakainka kuli aanze abasikwiiya bakwe kuli bumwi busena mumusena wa Kkidiloni, oko kwakali chilili mwakakunjila abasikwiya bakwe.
2 and Judas also, who delivered Him up, had known the place, because Jesus assembled there with His disciples many times.
Lino Judasi ooyo wakali sikuyo mwaba, alakwe wakalibwizi busenobu nkambo Jesu wakali kuswanana absikwiya bakwe nkuko.
3 Judas, therefore, having taken the band and officers out of the chief priests and Pharisees, comes there with torches and lamps, and weapons;
Mpawo Judasi wakazulwida inkamu yabasilumamba abamwi bendelezi bazwa kubapayizi bapati akubaFalisi, abasizyuno, bakayinka nkukoko amalampi, azimunisyo, azilwanisyo.
4 Jesus, therefore, knowing all things that are coming on Him, having gone forth, said to them, “Whom do you seek?”
Mpawo Jesu, iwakazi zyoonse zintu ezyo zyakali kuyochitika kulinguwe, wakaya kunembo wababuzya kuti, “Ngwani ngomulokuyanduula?”
5 They answered Him, “Jesus the Nazarene”; Jesus says to them, “I AM”; and Judas who delivered Him up was standing with them.
Bakamusandula, “Jesu waku Nazaleta.” Jesu wakati ndamwambila kuti, “Ndime.” Judasi ooyo wakamuzya wakaliimvwi abasiliumamba.
6 When, therefore, He said to them, “I AM,” they went away backward, and fell to the ground.
Nakaamba kuli mbabo kuti, “Ndime,” bakabwedela musule bawidaansi.
7 Again, therefore, He questioned them, “Whom do you seek?” And they said, “Jesus the Nazarene”;
Wakababuzya lubo, “Ngwani ngomulokuyanduula?” Lubo bakindulula bati, “Jesu waku Nazaleta.”
8 Jesus answered, “I said to you that I AM; if, then, you seek Me, permit these to go away”;
Jesu wakasandula, “Ndamubuzya kuti ndime. Na kamulokuyandula ndime, amubaleke aaba beende.”
9 that the word might be fulfilled that He said, “Those whom You have given to Me, I did not lose even one of them.”
Ezi zyakachitika kuti ijwi ndyakaamba lizuzikizigwe: “kuti kulibaabo mbwaakandipa takwe ngundakasowa pe.”
10 Simon Peter, therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the chief priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear—and the name of the servant was Malchus—
Alimwi Sayimoni Pita, wakali akafulo, wakakasomona wagonka mulanda wamupayizi mupati wamugonka kutwi kwakuchilisyo. Lino izina lyamulanda oyu wakali Malukkasi.
11 Jesus, therefore, said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath; the cup that the Father has given to Me, may I not drink it?”
Jesu wakati kuli Pita, “Bweedezya ikafulo munkomo. Nsyelede kunywa muchinywido eecho Taata nchaakandipa mebo?”
12 The band, therefore, and the captain, and the officers of the Jews, took hold on Jesus, and bound Him,
Awo inkamu yabasilumamba amupati wabo, ababelesi babaJuda, bakajata Jesu akumwaanga.
13 and they led Him away to Annas first, for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was chief priest of that year,
Kutanguna bakamutola kuli Aanasi, nkambo wakali yisizyala wa Kkefasi, wakali mupayizi mupati munyokoyo.
14 and Caiaphas was he who gave counsel to the Jews that it is good for one man to perish for the people.
Lino Kkefasi wakali nguwe wakapede lulayo kubaJuda kuti nichali chibotu kuti umwi muntu afwide bantu boonse.
15 And following Jesus was Simon Peter, and the other disciple, and that disciple was known to the chief priest, and he entered with Jesus into the hall of the chief priest,
Sayimoni Pita wakatobela Jesu, alimwi awumwi sikwiiya. Lino ooyu sikwiiya wakazibinkene kubapayizi bapati, aboobo wakanjila a Jesu munkuta yabapayizi bapati.
16 and Peter was standing at the door outside, therefore the other disciple who was known to the chief priest went forth, and he spoke to the doorkeeper, and he brought in Peter.
Pesi Pita wakaliimvwi amulyango kalaanze, mpawo umwi sikwiya, wakazibinkene kubapayizi bapati, wakazwa aanze kuyowambuula abalinda amulyango, mpawo wakanjizya Pita mukati.
17 Then the maid, the doorkeeper, says to Peter, “Are you also of the disciples of this Man?” He says, “I am not”;
Mpawo mulanda wachikayintu, wakalikubamba amulyango, wakabuzya Pita kuti, “Tooli umwi wabaabo basikwiiya bayooyu mwalumi na, wakasikuti, “teensi ndime pe.”
18 and the servants and the officers were standing, having made a fire of coals, because it was cold, and they were warming themselves, and Peter was standing with them, and warming himself.
Lino balanda abasikubeleka muwofesi bakalimvwi awo, nkabela bakali bakutilizya mulilo nkambo kwakali kutontola, bakali kuyota. Pita ambabo kayimvwi kalikuyota alakwe.
19 The chief priests, therefore, questioned Jesus concerning His disciples, and concerning His teaching;
Mupayizi mupati wakabuzya Jesu aatala abasikwiiya bakwe anjiisyo yakwe.
20 Jesus answered him, “I spoke freely to the world, I always taught in a synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always come together; and I spoke nothing in secret;
Jesu wakamusandula, “Ndakambuula entanganana kunyika. Choonse chiindi ndakali kuyiisya muzitumba amuzikombelo akoko baJuda nkubakali kuswanana. Taakwe pe nchindakaamba mukusisikizya.
21 why do you question Me? Question those having heard what I spoke to them; behold, these have known what I said.”
Nkambonzi nimundibuzya? Kabuzye kuli bakandimvwa ataala azezyo nzindakaamba. Boona, aaba bantu balizizi nzindakaamba.”
22 And He having said these things, one of the officers standing by gave Jesus a slap, saying, “Thus do You answer the chief priest?”
Jesu nakamana kwamba eezi, umwi wababelesi wakayimvwi wakawuma Jesu wati, “Mbubo na mboyelede kusandula mupayizi mupati?”
23 Jesus answered him, “If I spoke ill, testify concerning the ill; and if well, why do you strike Me?”
Jesu wakatikuli nguwe, “kuti nkendi ndaambula bubi, paa bukamboni atala abubi, pesi kuti kakuli kabotu, unduuminayi?
24 Annas then sent Him bound to Caiaphas the chief priest.
Mpawo Aanasi wakamutola kaangidwe kuli Kkayifasi mupayizi mupati.
25 And Simon Peter was standing and warming himself, then they said to him, “Are you also of His disciples?” He denied and said, “I am not.”
Lino Sayimoni Pita wakalimvwi kayoota mulilo. Bantu bakati kulinguwe, “Sena tenduwe umwi wabasikwiiya bakwe na? Wakakaka akwamba kuti, “Tensindime pe.”
26 One of the servants of the chief priest, being a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, says, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?”
Umwi wabalanda bamupayizi mupati, wakali munyina wamwalumi ulakutwi Pita nkwakagonkede, wakati, “Tooli nduwe na ngundakabwene muchilili anguwe?”
27 Again, therefore, Peter denied, and immediately a rooster crowed.
Mpawo Pita wakakaka lubo, mpawo mukuku wakakokolika.
28 They led, therefore, Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was early, and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover;
Eelyo bakatola Jesu kuzwa kuli Kkayifasi kuya kukubetekwa. Kwakachili kuseni loko, nkabela tebakanjila pe mubbetekelo kuchitila kuti tabasofwazigwi pe pesi bakakonzye kulya pasika.
29 Pilate, therefore, went forth to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this Man?”
Awo Pilato wakazwa aanze waya kuli mbaboo wasikuti, “Nguuli mulandu ngumweeta ayoyu mwalumi?”
30 They answered and said to him, “If He were not doing evil, we had not delivered Him to you.”
Bakasandula kabati kulinguwe, “Aanoli ooyu mwalumi tesimuchita zibi, Tetwayinomweeta kuli nduwe pe.”
31 Pilate, therefore, said to them, “Take Him—you—and judge Him according to your law”; the Jews, therefore, said to him, “It is not lawful to us to put anyone to death”;
Mpawawo Pilato wakati kulimbabo, “mumutole ndinywe, akuyomubeteka kwinda mumulawu wanu.” MaJuda bakati kulinguwe, “Tachili mumulawu pe kulindiswe kubikka kufumbwa umwi muntu kulufu.”
32 that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled which He said, signifying by what death He was about to die.
Bakaamba ezi kuchitila kuti ijwi lya Jesu lizuzikizigwe eelyo ndyakaamba kutoondezya atala amusyobo walufu ndwayizofwa.
33 Pilate, therefore, entered into the Praetorium again, and called Jesus, and said to Him, “You are the King of the Jews?”
Mpawo Pilato wakanjila mungánda yakubetekela lubo wayita Jesu wamubuzya kuti, “Nduwe Mwami waba Juda na?”
34 Jesus answered him, “Do you say this from yourself? Or did others say it to you about Me?”
Jesu wakasandula, “Ulokulyambwida na, nakuti kuli bamwi bakambula atala andime kuli nduwe?”
35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your nation and the chief priests delivered You up to me; what did You do?”
Pilato wakasandula, “Nsili muJuda pe me, ndinguwe na? Bantu bako abapayizi bapati bakupeda kuli ndime. Niinzi nchiwachita?”
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world; if My kingdom were of this world, My officers had struggled that I might not be delivered up to Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
Jesu wakasndula, “Bwami bwangu tabuli bweenyika eeyi pe. Aanoli bwami bwangu bwali bwachimwi chipanzi chenyika eeyi, balanda bangu bayinokulwana kuchitila kuti nkindeka kwabwa kuba Juda. Pesi lino bwami bwangu tabuzwidi aano pe.
37 Pilate, therefore, said to Him, “Are You then a king?” Jesus answered, “You say [it], because I am a king; I have been born for this, and I have come into the world for this, that I may testify to the truth; everyone who is of the truth, hears My voice.”
Pilato wakati kulinguwe, “Uli mwami na?” Jesu wakamusandul, “wamba kuti ndimwami. Kuuli aya makanze ndakazyaligwa, akuli aya makanze ndakasika munyika, kuti ngaambe bukamboni mukasimpe. Woonse ooyo uuli mukasimpe ulaswilizya kujwi lyaangu.”
38 Pilate says to Him, “What is truth?” And having said this, again he went forth to the Jews and says to them, “I find no fault in Him;
Pilato wakati kulinguwe, “niinzi kasimpe?” Ndakazwa kwaamba eezi, wakayinka kumaJuda wamba kuli mbabo, Takwe mulandu pe ngundajana mumwalumi ooyu.
39 and you have a custom that I will release to you one in the Passover; do you determine, therefore, [that] I will release to you the King of the Jews?”
Pesi mulachiyanza chakuti ndiwangunune umwi muntu kuli ndinywe apasika. Aabobo mulayandana kuti ndimulekezezye mwami waba Juda?”
40 Therefore they all cried out again, saying, “Not this One—but Barabbas”; and Barabbas was a robber.
Mpawo bakoompolola lubo akwamba kuti, pepe oyu mwalumi, pesi Bbalabbasi.” Lino oyu Bbalabbasi wakaali mubbi.
