< John 18 >

1 Having said these things, Jesus went forth with His disciples beyond the Brook of Kidron, where [there] was a garden, into which He entered, Himself and His disciples,
Kane Yesu osetieko lemo, nowuok gi jopuonjrene, mine gingʼado holo mar Kidron. Loka mar holono ne nitie puodho moro mane nigi yiende mag Zeituni, kendo Yesu nodonjo kanyo kaachiel gi jopuonjrene.
2 and Judas also, who delivered Him up, had known the place, because Jesus assembled there with His disciples many times.
To Judas, mane oyudo ondhoge, nongʼeyo kanyo, nikech Yesu ne thoro romo gi jopuonjrene kanyo.
3 Judas, therefore, having taken the band and officers out of the chief priests and Pharisees, comes there with torches and lamps, and weapons;
Omiyo Judas nobiro e puodhono, kotelone migawo mar jolweny kod jotelo moko ma noa ir jodolo madongo gi jo-Farisai. Negitingʼo toje gi teyni kod gige lweny.
4 Jesus, therefore, knowing all things that are coming on Him, having gone forth, said to them, “Whom do you seek?”
To kaka Yesu nongʼeyo gik moko duto mane biro timorene, nowuok oko mopenjogi niya, “En ngʼa mudwaro?”
5 They answered Him, “Jesus the Nazarene”; Jesus says to them, “I AM”; and Judas who delivered Him up was standing with them.
Negidwoko niya, “Wadwaro Yesu ma jo-Nazareth.” Yesu nowachonegi niya, “An e en.” (To Judas mane ndhoge bende nochungʼ kodgi kanyo).
6 When, therefore, He said to them, “I AM,” they went away backward, and fell to the ground.
Kane Yesu owachonegi niya, “An e En,” negigoyo okangʼ gidok chien mi gipodho piny.
7 Again, therefore, He questioned them, “Whom do you seek?” And they said, “Jesus the Nazarene”;
Nochako openjogi niya, “En ngʼa mudwaro?” Kendo neginwoyone niya, “Wadwaro Yesu ma jo-Nazareth.”
8 Jesus answered, “I said to you that I AM; if, then, you seek Me, permit these to go away”;
Yesu nodwokogi niya, “Donge asenyisou ni An e En. Ka an ema umanya, to weuru jogi odhi mondi.”
9 that the word might be fulfilled that He said, “Those whom You have given to Me, I did not lose even one of them.”
Mano notimore mondo weche mane Yesu oyudo osewacho ochop kare. Nonyisogi niya, “Onge kata ngʼato achiel moselal kuom joma ne imiya.”
10 Simon Peter, therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the chief priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear—and the name of the servant was Malchus—
Eka Simon Petro, mane oyudo nigi ligangla, nowuodho liganglane kendo notongʼo jatij jadolo maduongʼ mi ochodo ite ma korachwich, kendo nying jatijno ne en Malko.
11 Jesus, therefore, said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath; the cup that the Father has given to Me, may I not drink it?”
Yesu nokwero Petro kowachone niya, “Dwok liganglani e olalo! Idwaro mona metho e okombe ma Wuora osemiya nangʼo?”
12 The band, therefore, and the captain, and the officers of the Jews, took hold on Jesus, and bound Him,
Eka migawo mar jolweny gi jatendgi kod jotend jo-Yahudi nomako Yesu. Ne gitweye
13 and they led Him away to Annas first, for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was chief priest of that year,

14 and Caiaphas was he who gave counsel to the Jews that it is good for one man to perish for the people.

15 And following Jesus was Simon Peter, and the other disciple, and that disciple was known to the chief priest, and he entered with Jesus into the hall of the chief priest,

16 and Peter was standing at the door outside, therefore the other disciple who was known to the chief priest went forth, and he spoke to the doorkeeper, and he brought in Peter.

17 Then the maid, the doorkeeper, says to Peter, “Are you also of the disciples of this Man?” He says, “I am not”;
Nyako mane ni e dhootno nopenjo Petro niya, “Donge in bende in achiel kuom jopuonjre ngʼatni, koso ariambo?” Nodwoke niya, “Ooyo, ok an.”
18 and the servants and the officers were standing, having made a fire of coals, because it was cold, and they were warming themselves, and Peter was standing with them, and warming himself.
To nikech piny ne ngʼich, jotich gi jotelo nochungʼ kolworo mach manoyudo gisemoko mondo gio. Petro bende nochungʼ kodgi kanyo kaoyo mach.
19 The chief priests, therefore, questioned Jesus concerning His disciples, and concerning His teaching;
E thuolono jadolo maduongʼ nomiyo Yesu penjo kuom wach jopuonjrene kod puonjne.
20 Jesus answered him, “I spoke freely to the world, I always taught in a synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always come together; and I spoke nothing in secret;
Yesu nodwoke niya, “Asebedo ka awuoyo e lela ni oganda, kendo asebedo ka apuonjo ei sinagoke gi hekalu, kuonde ma jo-Yahudi duto chokoree. Onge gimoro amora masewacho lingʼ-lingʼ.
21 why do you question Me? Question those having heard what I spoke to them; behold, these have known what I said.”
En angʼo momiyo umiya penjo? Penjuru joma osebedo ka winja. Gin gingʼeyo maber gima nawacho.”
22 And He having said these things, one of the officers standing by gave Jesus a slap, saying, “Thus do You answer the chief priest?”
Kane Yesu owacho kamano, achiel kuom askeche mane ochungʼ bute nothalo lembe kawacho niya, “Kamano e kaka inyalo dwoko jadolo maduongʼ adier?”
23 Jesus answered him, “If I spoke ill, testify concerning the ill; and if well, why do you strike Me?”
To Yesu nodwoke niya, “Kapo ni awachone gimoro amora marach to hul ane gino. To kapo nawacho adier to ithala nangʼo?”
24 Annas then sent Him bound to Caiaphas the chief priest.
Eka Anas nochiwo Yesu mondo oter ir Kaifas, jadolo maduongʼ, ka pod otweye.
25 And Simon Peter was standing and warming himself, then they said to him, “Are you also of His disciples?” He denied and said, “I am not.”
Kane oyudo Simon Petro pod ochungʼ oyo mach, negipenje niya, “Idagi ni ok in achiel kuom jopuonjrene, koso iyie?” Nodagi kowacho niya, “Ooyo, ok an.”
26 One of the servants of the chief priest, being a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, says, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?”
Achiel kuom jotich jadolo maduongʼ mane en wat ngʼat mane Petro ongʼado ite cha, nochome tir, kapenje niya, “Donge nende aneni kode e puoth Zeituni?”
27 Again, therefore, Peter denied, and immediately a rooster crowed.
To Petro nochako okwer kendo, kendo gikanyono thuon gweno nochako kok.
28 They led, therefore, Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was early, and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover;
Eka jo-Yahudi nokawo Yesu koa ir Kaifas motere nyaka e od ruoth Pilato. Sechego koro piny nosechako yawore, omiyo jo-Yahudi ne ok odonjo ei dala ruoth, mondo kik gibed mogak. Negidwaro ni gicham Pasaka ka giler.
29 Pilate, therefore, went forth to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this Man?”
Omiyo Pilato nowuoknigi oko mopenjogi niya, “Ngʼatni udonjone gi ketho mage?”
30 They answered and said to him, “If He were not doing evil, we had not delivered Him to you.”
Negidwoke niya, “Ka dine bed ni ok en jaketho, to dine ok wakele e nyimi ka.”
31 Pilate, therefore, said to them, “Take Him—you—and judge Him according to your law”; the Jews, therefore, said to him, “It is not lawful to us to put anyone to death”;
Pilato nowachonegi niya, “Kaweuru un uwegi udhi ungʼadne bura kaka chiku dwaro.” To jo-Yahudi nodagi, kagiwacho niya, “Wan waonge gi teko mar ngʼado ne ngʼato buch tho.”
32 that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled which He said, signifying by what death He was about to die.
Mano notimore mondo weche Yesu mane oyudo osewacho kuom tho mane obiro thogo ochop kare.
33 Pilate, therefore, entered into the Praetorium again, and called Jesus, and said to Him, “You are the King of the Jews?”
Eka Pilato nodok e ode, kendo noluongo Yesu ire mopenje niya, “In e ruodh jo-Yahudi?”
34 Jesus answered him, “Do you say this from yourself? Or did others say it to you about Me?”
Yesu nopenje niya, “Gima ipenjano oa e pachi iwuon koso jomoko nono ema owachonigo kuoma?”
35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your nation and the chief priests delivered You up to me; what did You do?”
Pilato nodwoke niya, “Iparo ni an bende an ja-Yahudi? Jou owuon gi jodolou madongo ema oketi e lweta. Nyisa, en angʼo misetimo?”
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world; if My kingdom were of this world, My officers had struggled that I might not be delivered up to Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
Yesu nodwoke niya, “Pinyruodha ok en mar pinyni. Ka dine bed ni en, to jotichna dine ogore mi gitamo jo-Yahudi maka. To koroni, pinyruodha aa kamachielo.”
37 Pilate, therefore, said to Him, “Are You then a king?” Jesus answered, “You say [it], because I am a king; I have been born for this, and I have come into the world for this, that I may testify to the truth; everyone who is of the truth, hears My voice.”
Pilato nowacho niya, “Kare in ruoth?” Yesu nodwoko niya, “In kare kuom wacho ni an ruoth. Chutho mano emomiyo nonywola, kendo mano emomiyo ne abiro e pinyni, mondo atim neno kuom adiera. Ngʼato ka ngʼato ma jakora adiera winja.”
38 Pilate says to Him, “What is truth?” And having said this, again he went forth to the Jews and says to them, “I find no fault in Him;
Pilato nopenje niya, “Adiera en angʼo?” Bangʼ penjo kamano to nochako odok oko ir jo-Yahudi, mi owachonegi niya, “Ok ayudo ketho kata achiel kuom ngʼatni minyalo ngʼadnego bura.
39 and you have a custom that I will release to you one in the Passover; do you determine, therefore, [that] I will release to you the King of the Jews?”
To kaka en kitu mondo agonynu achiel kuom joma otwe e kinde mag sawo mar Pasaka, duher mondo agonynu ‘ruodh jo-Yahudi’ koso?”
40 Therefore they all cried out again, saying, “Not this One—but Barabbas”; and Barabbas was a robber.
To ne gikokne matek, kagiwacho riat niya, “Ooyo, ok en! Barabas ema imiwa!” Barabas ne en jamecho.
