John 16
1 “These things I have spoken to you, that you may not be stumbled.
"Tämän minä olen teille puhunut, ettette loukkaantuisi.
2 They will put you out of the synagogues, but an hour comes that everyone who has killed you may think to offer service to God;
He erottavat teidät synagoogasta; ja tulee aika, jolloin jokainen, joka tappaa teitä, luulee tekevänsä uhripalveluksen Jumalalle.
3 and these things they will do to you, because they did not know the Father, nor Me.
Ja sen he tekevät teille, koska he eivät tunne Isää eivätkä minua.
4 But these things I have spoken to you, that when the hour may come, you may remember them, that I said [them] to you, and I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you;
Mutta tämän minä olen puhunut teille, että, kun se aika tulee, te muistaisitte minun sen teille sanoneen. Tätä minä en ole sanonut teille alusta, koska minä olin teidän kansanne.
5 and now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, To where do you go?
Mutta nyt minä menen hänen tykönsä, joka on minut lähettänyt, eikä kukaan teistä kysy minulta: 'Mihin sinä menet?'
6 But because I have said to you these things, the sorrow has filled your heart.
Mutta koska minä olen tämän teille puhunut, täyttää murhe teidän sydämenne.
7 But I tell you the truth; it is better for you that I go away, for if I may not go away, the Comforter will not come to you, and if I go on, I will send Him to you;
Kuitenkin minä sanon teille totuuden: teille on hyväksi, että minä menen pois. Sillä ellen minä mene pois, ei Puolustaja tule teidän tykönne; mutta jos minä menen, niin minä hänet teille lähetän.
8 and having come, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment;
Ja kun hän tulee, niin hän näyttää maailmalle todeksi synnin ja vanhurskauden ja tuomion:
9 concerning sin indeed, because they do not believe in Me;
synnin, koska he eivät usko minuun;
10 and concerning righteousness, because I go away to My Father, and you behold Me no more;
vanhurskauden, koska minä menen Isän tykö, ettekä te enää minua näe;
11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
ja tuomion, koska tämän maailman ruhtinas on tuomittu.
12 I have yet many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear [them] now;
Minulla on vielä paljon sanottavaa teille, mutta te ette voi nyt sitä kantaa.
13 and when He may come—the Spirit of truth—He will guide you to all the truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but as many things as He will hear He will speak, and the coming things He will tell you;
Mutta kun hän tulee, totuuden Henki, johdattaa hän teidät kaikkeen totuuteen. Sillä se, mitä hän puhuu, ei ole hänestä itsestään; vaan minkä hän kuulee, sen hän puhuu, ja tulevaiset hän teille julistaa.
14 He will glorify Me, because He will take of Mine, and will tell to you.
Hän on minut kirkastava, sillä hän ottaa minun omastani ja julistaa teille.
15 All things, as many as the Father has, are Mine; because of this I said that He will take of Mine, and will tell to you;
Kaikki, mitä Isällä on, on minun; sentähden minä sanoin, että hän ottaa minun omastani ja julistaa teille.
16 a little while, and you do not behold Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go away to the Father.”
Vähän aikaa, niin te ette enää minua näe, ja taas vähän aikaa, niin te näette minut."
17 Therefore [some] of His disciples said to one another, “What is this that He says to us, A little while, and you do not behold Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me, and, Because I go away to the Father?”
Silloin muutamat hänen opetuslapsistansa sanoivat toisilleen: "Mitä se tarkoittaa, kun hän sanoo meille: 'Vähän aikaa, niin te ette minua näe, ja taas vähän aikaa, niin te näette minut', ja: 'Minä menen Isän tykö'?"
18 They said then, “What is this He says—the little while? We have not known what He says.”
Niin he sanoivat: "Mitä se tarkoittaa, kun hän sanoo: 'Vähän aikaa'? Emme ymmärrä, mitä hän puhuu."
19 Jesus, therefore, knew that they were wishing to ask Him, and He said to them, “Concerning this do you seek with one another, because I said, A little while, and you do not behold Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me?
Jeesus huomasi heidän tahtovan kysyä häneltä ja sanoi heille: "Sitäkö te kyselette keskenänne, että minä sanoin: 'Vähän aikaa, niin te ette minua näe, ja taas vähän aikaa, niin te näette minut'?
20 Truly, truly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, and the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will become joy.
Totisesti, totisesti minä sanon teille: te joudutte itkemään ja valittamaan, mutta maailma on iloitseva; te tulette murheellisiksi, mutta teidän murheenne on muuttuva iloksi.
21 The woman, when she may bear, has sorrow, because her hour came, and when she may bear the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, because of the joy that a man was born into the world.
Kun vaimo synnyttää, on hänellä murhe, koska hänen hetkensä on tullut; mutta kun hän on synnyttänyt lapsen, ei hän enää muista ahdistustaan sen ilon tähden, että ihminen on syntynyt maailmaan.
22 And you, therefore, now indeed have sorrow; and again I will see you, and your heart will rejoice, and no one takes your joy from you,
Niin on myös teillä nyt murhe; mutta minä olen taas näkevä teidät, ja teidän sydämenne on iloitseva, eikä kukaan ota teiltä pois teidän iloanne.
23 and in that day you will question nothing of Me; truly, truly, I say to you, as many things as you may ask of the Father in My Name, He will give you;
Ja sinä päivänä te ette minulta mitään kysy. Totisesti, totisesti minä sanon teille: jos te anotte jotakin Isältä, on hän sen teille antava minun nimessäni.
24 until now you asked nothing in My Name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
Tähän asti te ette ole anoneet mitään minun nimessäni; anokaa, niin te saatte, että teidän ilonne olisi täydellinen.
25 I have spoken these things in allegories to you, but there comes an hour when I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will tell you freely of the Father.
Tämän minä olen puhunut teille kuvauksilla; mutta tulee aika, jolloin minä en puhu teille enää kuvauksilla, vaan avonaisesti julistan teille sanomaa Isästä.
26 In that day you will make request in My Name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father for you,
Sinä päivänä te anotte minun nimessäni; enkä minä sano teille, että minä olen rukoileva Isää teidän edestänne;
27 for the Father Himself cherishes you, because you have cherished Me, and you have believed that I came forth from God;
sillä Isä itse rakastaa teitä, sentähden että te olette minua rakastaneet ja uskoneet minun lähteneen Jumalan tyköä.
28 I came forth from the Father, and have come into the world; again I leave the world, and go on to the Father.”
Minä olen lähtenyt Isästä ja tullut maailmaan; jälleen minä jätän maailman ja menen Isän tykö."
29 His disciples say to Him, “Behold, now You speak freely, and You do not speak allegory;
Hänen opetuslapsensa sanoivat: "Katso, nyt sinä puhut avonaisesti etkä käytä mitään kuvausta.
30 now we have known that You have known all things, and have no need that anyone questions You; in this we believe that You came forth from God.”
Nyt me tiedämme, että sinä tiedät kaikki, etkä tarvitse, että kukaan sinulta kysyy; sentähden me uskomme sinun Jumalan tyköä lähteneen."
31 Jesus answered them, “Now do you believe? Behold, there comes an hour,
Jeesus vastasi heille: "Nyt te uskotte.
32 and now it has come, that you may be scattered, each to his own things, and you may leave Me alone, and I am not alone, because the Father is with Me;
Katso, tulee hetki ja on jo tullut, jona teidät hajotetaan kukin tahollensa ja te jätätte minut yksin; en minä kuitenkaan yksin ole, sillä Isä on minun kanssani.
33 these things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace, in the world you will have tribulation, but take courage—I have overcome the world.”
Tämän minä olen teille puhunut, että teillä olisi minussa rauha. Maailmassa teillä on ahdistus; mutta olkaa turvallisella mielellä: minä olen voittanut maailman."
