< John 13 >
1 And before the Celebration of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour has come, that He may depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who [are] in the world—to the end He loved them.
Na rĩrĩ, gwatigĩtie o hanini Gĩathĩ kĩa Bathaka gĩkinye. Jesũ nĩamenyete atĩ ihinda rĩake rĩa kuuma gũkũ thĩ athiĩ kũrĩ Ithe nĩrĩakinyĩte. Na tondũ nĩendete arĩa maarĩ ake gũkũ thĩ, akĩmoonia ũrĩa aamendete nginya kĩrĩkĩrĩro.
2 And dinner having come, the Devil already having put [it] into the heart of Judas of Simon, Iscariot, that he may deliver Him up,
3 Jesus knowing that all things the Father has given to Him—into [His] hands, and that He came forth from God, and He goes to God,
Jesũ nĩamenyete atĩ Ithe nĩamũheete ũhoti wa maũndũ mothe, na atĩ oimĩte kũrĩ Ngai, na acookaga kũrĩ o Ngai;
4 rises from the dinner, and lays down His garments, and having taken a towel, He girded Himself;
nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jesũ agĩũkĩra, akiuma hau maarĩĩagĩra, akĩruta nguo yake ya igũrũ, akĩoya taurũ, akĩĩoha njohero.
5 afterward He puts water into the basin, and began to wash the feet of His disciples, and to wipe with the towel with which He was being girded.
6 He comes, therefore, to Simon Peter, and that one says to Him, “Lord, You—do You wash my feet?”
Na aakinya harĩ Simoni Petero, Petero akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Hĩ, Mwathani, wee nĩwe ũgũũthambia nyarĩrĩ?”
7 Jesus answered and said to him, “That which I do you have not known now, but you will know after these things”;
Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Ndũngĩmenya ũrĩa ndĩreka rĩu, no thuutha-inĩ nĩũrĩmenya.”
8 Peter says to Him, “You may not wash my feet—throughout the age.” Jesus answered him, “If I may not wash you, you have no part with Me”; (aiōn )
Petero akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Aca, wee ndũrĩ hĩndĩ ũngĩthambia nyarĩrĩ ciakwa.” Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Itangĩgũthambia, ndũngĩgĩa ngwatanĩro na niĩ.” (aiōn )
9 Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also the hands and the head.”
Simoni Petero akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, ndũgaathambie o nyarĩrĩ ciiki, no gĩĩthambie moko o na mũtwe!”
10 Jesus says to him, “He who has been bathed has no need except to wash his feet, but he is clean altogether; and you are clean, but not all”;
Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ wĩthambĩte mwĩrĩ abatairio nĩ gwĩthamba o nyarĩrĩ ciiki; mwĩrĩ wake wothe nĩ mũtheru. Na inyuĩ mũrĩ atheru, o na gũtuĩka ti inyuothe.”
11 for He knew him who is delivering Him up; because of this He said, “You are not all clean.”
Nĩgũkorwo nĩamenyete ũrĩa ũkaamũkunyanĩra, na nĩkĩo oigire atĩ ti othe maarĩ atheru.
12 When, therefore, He washed their feet, and took His garments, having reclined again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
13 You call Me the Teacher and the LORD, and you say well, for I am;
Mũnjĩtaga ‘Mũrutani’ na ‘Mwathani’, na ũguo nĩguo kũrĩ, nĩgũkorwo ũguo nĩguo ndĩ.
14 if then I washed your feet—the LORD and the Teacher—you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
Na rĩrĩ, kuona atĩ Niĩ, Mwathani na Mũrutani wanyu, nĩndamũthambia nyarĩrĩ-rĩ, o na inyuĩ nĩmwagĩrĩirwo mũthambanagie nyarĩrĩ mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ.
15 For I gave to you an example, that, according as I did to you, you also may do;
Nĩndamuonia kĩonereria nĩguo mwĩkage o ta ũguo ndamwĩka.
16 truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his lord, nor an apostle greater than he who sent him;
Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, gũtirĩ ndungata nene gũkĩra mwathi wayo, kana mũtũmwo agakĩra ũrĩa ũmũtũmĩte.
17 if you have known these things, you are blessed if you may do them;
Kuona atĩ rĩu nĩmũmenyete maũndũ maya, nĩmũrĩrathimagwo mwameka.
18 I do not speak concerning you all; I have known whom I chose for Myself; but that the Writing may be fulfilled: He who is eating the bread with Me, lifted up his heel against Me.
“Ndiraaria ũhoro wanyu inyuothe; nĩnjũũĩ arĩa thuurĩte. No ũhoro ũyũ nĩ wa kũhingia maandĩko marĩa moigĩte atĩrĩ, ‘O ũrĩa tũrĩĩanagĩra irio nake nĩangarũrũkĩte.’
19 From this time I tell you, before its coming to pass, that, when it may come to pass, you may believe that I AM;
“Ndĩramwĩra maũndũ maya rĩu matanekĩka, nĩgeetha hĩndĩ ĩrĩa marĩĩkĩka mũrĩnjĩtĩkia atĩ niĩ nĩ niĩ we.
20 truly, truly, I say to you, he who is receiving whomsoever I may send, receives Me; and he who is receiving Me, receives Him who sent Me.”
Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, ũrĩa wothe wamũkagĩra mũndũ ũrĩa ndũmĩte nĩ niĩ mwene aamũkagĩra; na ũrĩa wothe ũnyamũkagĩra, aamũkagĩra ũrĩa wandũmire.”
21 Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in the spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you that one of you will deliver Me up”;
22 the disciples were looking, therefore, at one another, doubting concerning of whom He speaks.
Nao arutwo ake makĩambĩrĩria kũrorana marigĩtwo nũũ gatagatĩ-inĩ kao aaragia ũhoro wake.
23 And there was one of His disciples reclining in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus was loving;
Ũmwe wao, mũrutwo ũrĩa Jesũ endete, aikarĩte thĩ etiiranĩtie na Jesũ.
24 Simon Peter, then, beckons to this one, to inquire who he may be concerning whom He speaks,
Nake Simoni Petero akĩheneria mũrutwo ũcio, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ta mũũrie araaria ũhoro wa ũ.”
25 and that one having leaned back on the breast of Jesus, responds to Him, “Lord, who is it?”
Nake mũrutwo ũcio, agĩĩtiirania na Jesũ na akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, ũcio nũũ ũraaria ũhoro wake?”
26 Jesus answers, “It is that one to whom I, having dipped the morsel, will give it”; and having dipped the morsel, He gives [it] to Judas of Simon, Iscariot.
27 And after the morsel, then Satan entered into that one. Jesus, therefore, says to him, “What you do—do quickly”;
Judasi aarĩkia kũrĩa mũgate ũcio, Mũcukani akĩmũingĩra. Nake Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũrĩa ũkiriĩ gwĩka-rĩ, ĩka narua.”
28 and none of those reclining to eat knew for what intent He said this to him,
No gũtirĩ o na ũmwe warĩ metha-inĩ wataũkĩirwo nĩ gĩtũmi kĩa Jesũ kũmwĩra ũguo.
29 for certain [of them] were thinking, since Judas had the bag, that Jesus says to him, “Buy what we have need of for the celebration”; or that he may give something to the poor;
Na tondũ Judasi nĩwe waigaga mbeeca-rĩ, amwe magĩĩciiria Jesũ aamwĩraga agũre kĩrĩa kĩabataranĩtie nĩ ũndũ wa Gĩathĩ, kana aheane kĩndũ nĩ ũndũ wa arĩa athĩĩni.
30 having received, therefore, the morsel, that one immediately went forth, and it was night.
Nake Judasi aarĩkia kwamũkĩra mũgate ũcio, akiuma nja. Na kwarĩ ũtukũ.
31 When, therefore, he went forth, Jesus says, “Now was the Son of Man glorified, and God was glorified in Him;
Na Judasi aarĩkia gũthiĩ, Jesũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Rĩu Mũrũ wa Mũndũ nĩagoocithĩtio, nake Ngai nĩagoocithĩtio arĩ thĩinĩ wake.
32 if God was glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself; indeed, He will immediately glorify Him.
Angĩkorwo Ngai nĩagoocithĩtio thĩinĩ wake, Ngai nĩekũgoocithia Mũriũ arĩ thĩinĩ wake mwene, na amũgoocithie o narua.
33 Little children, yet a little [while] am I with you; you will seek Me, and according as I said to the Jews, I also say to you now: To where I go away, you are not able to come.
“Ciana ciakwa, ngũkorwo na inyuĩ o gwa kahinda kanini. Nĩmũkanjaria, na o ta ũrĩa ndeerire Ayahudi, no taguo ngũmwĩra: Kũrĩa ndĩrathiĩ, inyuĩ mũtingĩhota gũũka.
34 A new command I give to you, that you love one another; according as I loved you, that you also love one another;
“Ngũmũhe rĩathani rĩerũ: Endanagai mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ. O ta ũrĩa ndĩmwendete, o na inyuĩ no nginya mwendanage mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ.
35 in this will all know that you are My disciples, if you may have love one to another.”
Ũndũ ũyũ nĩguo ũrĩmenyithagia andũ othe atĩ mũrĩ arutwo akwa, mũngĩendana mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ.”
36 Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, to where do You go away?” Jesus answered him, “To where I go away, you are not able now to follow Me, but afterward you will follow Me.”
Simoni Petero akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani nĩ kũ ũgũthiĩ?” Nake Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Kũrĩa ngũthiĩ, mũtingĩhota kũnũmĩrĩra rĩu, no nĩmũrĩnũmĩrĩra thuutha-inĩ.”
37 Peter says to Him, “Lord, why am I not able to follow You now? I will lay down my life for You”;
Petero akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani nĩ kĩĩ kĩngĩgiria ngũrũmĩrĩre rĩu? Niĩ nĩngũruta muoyo wakwa nĩ ũndũ waku.”
38 Jesus answered him, “You will lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, a rooster will not crow until you may deny Me three times.”
Nake Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Atĩ no ũrute muoyo waku nĩ ũndũ wakwa? Ngũkwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, ngũkũ ĩtanakũga, nĩũrĩngaana maita matatũ!
