John 13
1 And before the Celebration of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour has come, that He may depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who [are] in the world—to the end He loved them.
Or, avant la fête de Pâque, Jésus, sachant que son heure était venue pour passer de ce monde au Père, ayant aimé les siens qui étaient dans le monde, les aima jusqu’à la fin.
2 And dinner having come, the Devil already having put [it] into the heart of Judas of Simon, Iscariot, that he may deliver Him up,
Et pendant qu’ils étaient à souper, le diable ayant déjà mis dans le cœur de Judas Iscariote, [fils] de Simon, de le livrer, –
3 Jesus knowing that all things the Father has given to Him—into [His] hands, and that He came forth from God, and He goes to God,
[Jésus], sachant que le Père lui avait mis toutes choses entre les mains, et qu’il était venu de Dieu, et s’en allait à Dieu,
4 rises from the dinner, and lays down His garments, and having taken a towel, He girded Himself;
se lève du souper et met de côté ses vêtements; et ayant pris un linge, il s’en ceignit.
5 afterward He puts water into the basin, and began to wash the feet of His disciples, and to wipe with the towel with which He was being girded.
Puis il verse de l’eau dans le bassin, et se met à laver les pieds des disciples, et à les essuyer avec le linge dont il était ceint.
6 He comes, therefore, to Simon Peter, and that one says to Him, “Lord, You—do You wash my feet?”
Il vient donc à Simon Pierre; et celui-ci lui dit: Seigneur, me laves-tu, toi, les pieds?
7 Jesus answered and said to him, “That which I do you have not known now, but you will know after these things”;
Jésus répondit et lui dit: Ce que je fais, tu ne le sais pas maintenant, mais tu le sauras dans la suite.
8 Peter says to Him, “You may not wash my feet—throughout the age.” Jesus answered him, “If I may not wash you, you have no part with Me”; (aiōn g165)
Pierre lui dit: Tu ne me laveras jamais les pieds. Jésus lui répondit: Si je ne te lave, tu n’as pas de part avec moi. (aiōn g165)
9 Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also the hands and the head.”
Simon Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, non pas mes pieds seulement, mais aussi mes mains et ma tête.
10 Jesus says to him, “He who has been bathed has no need except to wash his feet, but he is clean altogether; and you are clean, but not all”;
Jésus lui dit: Celui qui a tout le corps lavé n’a besoin que de se laver les pieds; mais il est tout net; et vous, vous êtes nets, mais non pas tous.
11 for He knew him who is delivering Him up; because of this He said, “You are not all clean.”
Car il savait qui le livrerait; c’est pourquoi il dit: Vous n’êtes pas tous nets.
12 When, therefore, He washed their feet, and took His garments, having reclined again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
Quand donc il eut lavé leurs pieds et qu’il eut repris ses vêtements, s’étant remis à table, il leur dit: Savez-vous ce que je vous ai fait?
13 You call Me the Teacher and the LORD, and you say well, for I am;
Vous m’appelez maître et seigneur, et vous dites bien, car je le suis;
14 if then I washed your feet—the LORD and the Teacher—you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
si donc moi, le seigneur et le maître, j’ai lavé vos pieds, vous aussi vous devez vous laver les pieds les uns aux autres.
15 For I gave to you an example, that, according as I did to you, you also may do;
Car je vous ai donné un exemple, afin que, comme je vous ai fait, moi, vous aussi vous fassiez.
16 truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his lord, nor an apostle greater than he who sent him;
En vérité, en vérité, je vous dis: L’esclave n’est pas plus grand que son seigneur, ni l’envoyé plus grand que celui qui l’a envoyé.
17 if you have known these things, you are blessed if you may do them;
Si vous savez ces choses, vous êtes bienheureux si vous les faites.
18 I do not speak concerning you all; I have known whom I chose for Myself; but that the Writing may be fulfilled: He who is eating the bread with Me, lifted up his heel against Me.
Je ne parle pas de vous tous; moi, je connais ceux que j’ai choisis; mais c’est afin que l’écriture soit accomplie: « Celui qui mange le pain avec moi a levé son talon contre moi ».
19 From this time I tell you, before its coming to pass, that, when it may come to pass, you may believe that I AM;
Je vous le dis dès maintenant, avant que cela arrive, afin que, quand ce sera arrivé, vous croyiez que c’est moi.
20 truly, truly, I say to you, he who is receiving whomsoever I may send, receives Me; and he who is receiving Me, receives Him who sent Me.”
En vérité, en vérité, je vous dis: Celui qui reçoit quelqu’un que j’envoie, me reçoit; et celui qui me reçoit, reçoit celui qui m’a envoyé.
21 Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in the spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you that one of you will deliver Me up”;
Ayant dit ces choses, Jésus fut troublé dans [son] esprit, et rendit témoignage et dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous dis que l’un d’entre vous me livrera.
22 the disciples were looking, therefore, at one another, doubting concerning of whom He speaks.
Les disciples se regardaient donc les uns les autres, étant en perplexité, [ne sachant] de qui il parlait.
23 And there was one of His disciples reclining in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus was loving;
Or l’un d’entre ses disciples, que Jésus aimait, était à table dans le sein de Jésus.
24 Simon Peter, then, beckons to this one, to inquire who he may be concerning whom He speaks,
Simon Pierre donc lui fait signe de demander lequel était celui dont il parlait.
25 and that one having leaned back on the breast of Jesus, responds to Him, “Lord, who is it?”
Et lui, s’étant penché sur la poitrine de Jésus, lui dit: Seigneur, lequel est-ce?
26 Jesus answers, “It is that one to whom I, having dipped the morsel, will give it”; and having dipped the morsel, He gives [it] to Judas of Simon, Iscariot.
Jésus répond: C’est celui à qui moi je donnerai le morceau après l’avoir trempé. Et ayant trempé le morceau, il le donne à Judas Iscariote, [fils] de Simon.
27 And after the morsel, then Satan entered into that one. Jesus, therefore, says to him, “What you do—do quickly”;
Et après le morceau, alors Satan entra en lui. Jésus donc lui dit: Ce que tu fais, fais-le promptement.
28 and none of those reclining to eat knew for what intent He said this to him,
Mais aucun de ceux qui étaient à table ne comprit pourquoi il lui avait dit cela;
29 for certain [of them] were thinking, since Judas had the bag, that Jesus says to him, “Buy what we have need of for the celebration”; or that he may give something to the poor;
car quelques-uns pensaient que, puisque Judas avait la bourse, Jésus lui avait dit: Achète ce dont nous avons besoin pour la fête; ou, qu’il donne quelque chose aux pauvres.
30 having received, therefore, the morsel, that one immediately went forth, and it was night.
Ayant donc reçu le morceau, il sortit aussitôt; or il était nuit.
31 When, therefore, he went forth, Jesus says, “Now was the Son of Man glorified, and God was glorified in Him;
Lors donc qu’il fut sorti, Jésus dit: Maintenant le fils de l’homme est glorifié, et Dieu est glorifié en lui.
32 if God was glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself; indeed, He will immediately glorify Him.
Si Dieu est glorifié en lui, Dieu aussi le glorifiera en lui-même; et aussitôt il le glorifiera.
33 Little children, yet a little [while] am I with you; you will seek Me, and according as I said to the Jews, I also say to you now: To where I go away, you are not able to come.
Enfants, je suis encore pour un peu de temps avec vous: vous me chercherez; et, comme j’ai dit aux Juifs: Là où moi je vais, vous, vous ne pouvez venir, je vous le dis aussi maintenant à vous.
34 A new command I give to you, that you love one another; according as I loved you, that you also love one another;
Je vous donne un commandement nouveau, que vous vous aimiez l’un l’autre; comme je vous ai aimés, que vous aussi vous vous aimiez l’un l’autre.
35 in this will all know that you are My disciples, if you may have love one to another.”
À ceci tous connaîtront que vous êtes mes disciples, si vous avez de l’amour entre vous.
36 Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, to where do You go away?” Jesus answered him, “To where I go away, you are not able now to follow Me, but afterward you will follow Me.”
Simon Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, où vas-tu? Jésus lui répondit: Là où je vais, tu ne peux pas me suivre maintenant, mais tu me suivras plus tard.
37 Peter says to Him, “Lord, why am I not able to follow You now? I will lay down my life for You”;
Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, pourquoi ne puis-je pas te suivre maintenant? Je laisserai ma vie pour toi.
38 Jesus answered him, “You will lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, a rooster will not crow until you may deny Me three times.”
Jésus répond: Tu laisseras ta vie pour moi! En vérité, en vérité, je te dis: Le coq ne chantera point, que tu ne m’aies renié trois fois.
