John 13
1 And before the Celebration of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour has come, that He may depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who [are] in the world—to the end He loved them.
| ܩܕܡ ܕܝܢ ܥܐܕܐ ܕܦܨܚܐ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܡܛܬ ܫܥܬܐ ܕܢܫܢܐ ܡܢ ܗܢܐ ܥܠܡܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܐܚܒ ܠܕܝܠܗ ܕܒܗܢܐ ܥܠܡܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܚܪܬܐ ܐܚܒ ܐܢܘܢ |
2 And dinner having come, the Devil already having put [it] into the heart of Judas of Simon, Iscariot, that he may deliver Him up,
| ܘܟܕ ܗܘܬ ܚܫܡܝܬܐ ܪܡܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܠܤܛܢܐ ܒܠܒܗ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܒܪ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܤܟܪܝܘܛܐ ܕܢܫܠܡܝܘܗܝ |
3 Jesus knowing that all things the Father has given to Him—into [His] hands, and that He came forth from God, and He goes to God,
| ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܛܠ ܕܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܕܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܝܗܒ ܐܒܐ ܒܐܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܢܦܩ ܘܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܙܠ |
4 rises from the dinner, and lays down His garments, and having taken a towel, He girded Himself;
| ܩܡ ܡܢ ܚܫܡܝܬܐ ܘܤܡ ܢܚܬܘܗܝ ܘܫܩܠ ܤܕܘܢܐ ܡܚܐ ܒܚܨܘܗܝ |
5 afterward He puts water into the basin, and began to wash the feet of His disciples, and to wipe with the towel with which He was being girded.
| ܘܐܪܡܝ ܡܝܐ ܒܡܫܓܬܐ ܘܫܪܝ ܠܡܫܓܘ ܪܓܠܐ ܕܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܡܫܘܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܤܕܘܢܐ ܕܡܚܐ ܒܚܨܘܗܝ |
6 He comes, therefore, to Simon Peter, and that one says to Him, “Lord, You—do You wash my feet?”
| ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܬ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܐܢܬ ܡܪܝ ܪܓܠܝ ܡܫܝܓ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ |
7 Jesus answered and said to him, “That which I do you have not known now, but you will know after these things”;
| ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܬ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܬ ܗܫܐ ܒܬܪܟܢ ܕܝܢ ܬܕܥ |
8 Peter says to Him, “You may not wash my feet—throughout the age.” Jesus answered him, “If I may not wash you, you have no part with Me”; (aiōn g165)
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܠܐ ܡܫܝܓ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ ܪܓܠܝ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢ ܠܐ ܡܫܝܓ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܠܝܬ ܠܟ ܥܡܝ ܡܢܬܐ (aiōn g165) |
9 Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also the hands and the head.”
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܡܕܝܢ ܡܪܝ ܠܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܪܓܠܝ ܬܫܝܓ ܠܝ ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܐܝܕܝ ܐܦ ܪܫܝ |
10 Jesus says to him, “He who has been bathed has no need except to wash his feet, but he is clean altogether; and you are clean, but not all”;
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܗܘ ܕܤܚܐ ܠܐ ܤܢܝܩ ܐܠܐ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܢܫܝܓ ܟܠܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܟܐ ܗܘ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܟܠܟܘܢ ܕܟܝܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܟܠܟܘܢ |
11 for He knew him who is delivering Him up; because of this He said, “You are not all clean.”
| ܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܗܘ ܕܡܫܠܡ ܠܗ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܟܠܟܘܢ ܕܟܝܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ |
12 When, therefore, He washed their feet, and took His garments, having reclined again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
| ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܐܫܝܓ ܪܓܠܝܗܘܢ ܫܩܠ ܢܚܬܘܗܝ ܘܐܤܬܡܟ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܥܒܕܬ ܠܟܘܢ |
13 You call Me the Teacher and the LORD, and you say well, for I am;
| ܐܢܬܘܢ ܩܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܝ ܪܒܢ ܘܡܪܢ ܘܫܦܝܪ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܝܬܝ ܓܝܪ |
14 if then I washed your feet—the LORD and the Teacher—you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
| ܐܢ ܐܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܪܟܘܢ ܘܪܒܟܘܢ ܐܫܝܓܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܪܓܠܝܟܘܢ ܟܡܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܚܝܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܬܫܝܓܘܢ ܪܓܠܐ ܚܕ ܕܚܕ |
15 For I gave to you an example, that, according as I did to you, you also may do;
| ܗܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܛܘܦܤܐ ܝܗܒܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܥܒܕܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܬܥܒܕܘܢ |
16 truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his lord, nor an apostle greater than he who sent him;
| ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܠܝܬ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܪܒ ܡܢ ܡܪܗ ܘܠܐ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܕܪܒ ܡܢ ܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܗ |
17 if you have known these things, you are blessed if you may do them;
| ܐܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܬܕܥܘܢ ܛܘܒܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܢ ܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܐܢܝܢ |
18 I do not speak concerning you all; I have known whom I chose for Myself; but that the Writing may be fulfilled: He who is eating the bread with Me, lifted up his heel against Me.
| ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܟܠܟܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܓܒܝܬ ܐܠܐ ܕܟܬܒܐ ܢܫܠܡ ܕܗܘ ܕܐܟܠ ܥܡܝ ܠܚܡܐ ܐܪܝܡ ܥܠܝ ܥܩܒܗ |
19 From this time I tell you, before its coming to pass, that, when it may come to pass, you may believe that I AM;
| ܡܢ ܗܫܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܕܡܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܬܗܝܡܢܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ |
20 truly, truly, I say to you, he who is receiving whomsoever I may send, receives Me; and he who is receiving Me, receives Him who sent Me.”
| ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܕܡܩܒܠ ܠܡܢ ܕܡܫܕܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܝ ܡܩܒܠ ܘܡܢ ܕܠܝ ܡܩܒܠ ܡܩܒܠ ܠܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ |
21 Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in the spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you that one of you will deliver Me up”;
| ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܬܥܙܙ ܒܪܘܚܗ ܘܐܤܗܕ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܚܕ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܢܫܠܡܢܝ |
22 the disciples were looking, therefore, at one another, doubting concerning of whom He speaks.
| ܚܪܘ ܕܝܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܚܕ ܒܚܕ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܥܠ ܡܢܘ ܐܡܪ |
23 And there was one of His disciples reclining in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus was loving;
| ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܚܕ ܕܤܡܝܟ ܗܘܐ ܒܥܘܒܗ ܗܘ ܕܪܚܡ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ |
24 Simon Peter, then, beckons to this one, to inquire who he may be concerning whom He speaks,
| ܠܗܢܐ ܪܡܙ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܕܢܫܐܠܝܘܗܝ ܕܡܢܘ ܗܘ ܕܐܡܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ |
25 and that one having leaned back on the breast of Jesus, responds to Him, “Lord, who is it?”
| ܘܢܦܠ ܗܘ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܥܠ ܚܕܝܗ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝ ܡܢܘ ܗܢܐ |
26 Jesus answers, “It is that one to whom I, having dipped the morsel, will give it”; and having dipped the morsel, He gives [it] to Judas of Simon, Iscariot.
| ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘ ܗܘ ܕܨܒܥ ܐܢܐ ܠܚܡܐ ܝܗܒ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܘܨܒܥ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܚܡܐ ܘܝܗܒ ܠܝܗܘܕܐ ܒܪ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܤܟܪܝܘܛܐ |
27 And after the morsel, then Satan entered into that one. Jesus, therefore, says to him, “What you do—do quickly”;
| ܘܒܬܪ ܠܚܡܐ ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܬܥܠܠ ܒܗ ܤܛܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܐܢܬ ܥܒܕ ܒܥܓܠ |
28 and none of those reclining to eat knew for what intent He said this to him,
| ܗܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܝܕܥ ܡܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܤܡܝܟܐ ܕܥܠ ܡܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ |
29 for certain [of them] were thinking, since Judas had the bag, that Jesus says to him, “Buy what we have need of for the celebration”; or that he may give something to the poor;
| ܐܢܫܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܤܒܪܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܓܠܘܤܩܡܐ ܨܐܕܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܕܡܦܩܕ ܦܩܕ ܠܗ ܕܢܙܒܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܡܬܒܥܐ ܠܥܕܥܕܐ ܐܘ ܕܢܬܠ ܡܕܡ ܠܡܤܟܢܐ |
30 having received, therefore, the morsel, that one immediately went forth, and it was night.
| ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܢܤܒ ܠܚܡܐ ܒܪ ܫܥܬܗ ܘܢܦܩ ܠܗ ܠܒܪ ܠܠܝܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܢܦܩ |
31 When, therefore, he went forth, Jesus says, “Now was the Son of Man glorified, and God was glorified in Him;
| ܘܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܗܫܐ ܐܫܬܒܚ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܘܐܠܗܐ ܐܫܬܒܚ ܒܗ |
32 if God was glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself; indeed, He will immediately glorify Him.
| ܘܐܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܫܬܒܚ ܒܗ ܘܐܦ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܫܒܚ ܠܗ ܒܗ ܘܡܚܕܐ ܡܫܒܚ ܠܗ |
33 Little children, yet a little [while] am I with you; you will seek Me, and according as I said to the Jews, I also say to you now: To where I go away, you are not able to come.
| ܒܢܝ ܩܠܝܠ ܐܚܪܝܢ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܐܢܐ ܘܬܒܥܘܢܢܝ ܘܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܠܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܕܠܐܝܟܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܐܬܐ ܘܐܦ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܗܫܐ |
34 A new command I give to you, that you love one another; according as I loved you, that you also love one another;
| ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܚܕܬܐ ܝܗܒ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܡܚܒܝܢ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܚܒܬܟܘܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܬܚܒܘܢ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ |
35 in this will all know that you are My disciples, if you may have love one to another.”
| ܒܗܕܐ ܢܕܥ ܟܠ ܐܢܫ ܕܬܠܡܝܕܝ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܢ ܚܘܒܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܟܘܢ ܚܕ ܠܘܬ ܚܕ |
36 Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, to where do You go away?” Jesus answered him, “To where I go away, you are not able now to follow Me, but afterward you will follow Me.”
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܡܪܢ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܬ ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܕܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܬ ܗܫܐ ܕܬܐܬܐ ܒܬܪܝ ܠܚܪܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܬܐܬܐ |
37 Peter says to Him, “Lord, why am I not able to follow You now? I will lay down my life for You”;
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܡܪܝ ܠܡܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܒܬܪܟ ܗܫܐ ܢܦܫܝ ܚܠܦܝܟ ܤܐܡ ܐܢܐ |
38 Jesus answered him, “You will lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, a rooster will not crow until you may deny Me three times.”
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܢܦܫܟ ܚܠܦܝ ܤܐܡ ܐܢܬ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܕܠܐ ܢܩܪܐ ܬܪܢܓܠܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܬܟܦܘܪ ܒܝ ܬܠܬ ܙܒܢܝܢ |
