John 12
1 Jesus, therefore, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had died, whom He raised out of the dead;
Jésus donc, six jours avant la pâque, vint à Béthanie, où était mort Lazare qu’avait ressuscité Jésus.
2 they made, therefore, a dinner to Him there, and Martha was ministering, and Lazarus was one of those reclining together with Him;
On lui prépara là un souper; Marthe servait, et Lazare était un de ceux qui étaient à table avec lui.
3 Mary, therefore, having taken a pound of ointment of spikenard, of great price, anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair, and the house was filled from the fragrance of the ointment.
Or Marie prit une livre de parfum d’un nard pur de grand prix; elle en oignit les pieds de Jésus, et les essuya avec ses cheveux, et la maison fut remplie de l’odeur du parfum.
4 Therefore one of His disciples—Judas Iscariot, of Simon, who is about to deliver Him up—says,
Alors un de ses disciples, Judas Iscariote, qui devait le trahir, dit:
5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor?”
Pourquoi ce parfum n’a-t-il pas été vendu trois cents deniers, et n’a-t-il pas été donné aux pauvres?
6 And he said this, not because he was caring for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and what things were put in he was carrying.
Or il dit cela, non qu’il se souciât des pauvres, mais parce qu’il était voleur, et qu’ayant la bourse, il portait ce qu’on y mettait.
7 Jesus, therefore, said, “Permit her; she has kept it for the day of My embalming,
Jésus dit donc: Laissez-la réserver ce parfum pour le jour de ma sépulture.
8 for you always have the poor with yourselves, and you do not always have Me.”
Car, les pauvres, vous les avez toujours avec vous, mais moi, vous ne m’avez pas toujours.
9 Therefore, a great multitude of the Jews knew that He is there, and they came, not only because of Jesus, but that they may also see Lazarus, whom He raised out of the dead;
Une grande multitude de Juifs sut qu’il était là; et ils y vinrent, non à cause de Jésus seulement, mais pour voir Lazare, qu’il avait ressuscité d’entre les morts.
10 and the chief priests took counsel, that they may also kill Lazarus,
Les princes des prêtres songèrent donc à faire mourir Lazare lui-même,
11 because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.
Parce que beaucoup d’entre les Juifs se retiraient d’eux à cause de lui, et croyaient en Jésus.
12 On the next day, a great multitude that came to the celebration, having heard that Jesus comes to Jerusalem,
Le lendemain, une foule nombreuse qui était venue pour la fête, ayant appris que Jésus venait à Jérusalem,
13 took the branches of the palms, and went forth to meet Him, and were crying, “Hosanna! Blessed [is] He who is coming in the Name of the LORD—the King of Israel”;
Prit des rameaux de palmiers, et alla au-devant de lui, criant: Hosanna, béni celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur, comme roi d’Israël!
14 and Jesus having found a young donkey sat on it, according as it is written,
Et Jésus trouva un ânon, et s’assit dessus, comme il est écrit:
15 “Do not fear, daughter of Zion, behold, your King comes, sitting on a colt of a donkey.”
Ne craignez point, filles de Sion, voici votre roi qui vient, assis sur le petit d’une ânesse.
16 And His disciples did not know these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were having been written about Him, and these things they did to Him.
Ses disciples ne comprirent point ceci d’abord; mais quand Jésus fut entré dans sa gloire, alors ils se souvinrent que ces choses étaient écrites de lui, et qu’ils les lui avaient appliquées.
17 The multitude, therefore, who are with Him, were testifying that He called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him out of the dead;
Or c’est ainsi que rendait témoignage la multitude qui était avec lui lorsqu’il appela Lazare du tombeau et le ressuscita d’entre les morts.
18 because of this the multitude also met Him, because they heard of His having done this sign,
C’est pour cela aussi que la foule vint au-devant de lui, parce qu’ils avaient appris qu’il avait fait ce miracle.
19 therefore the Pharisees said among themselves, “You see that you do not gain anything, behold, the world went after Him.”
Les pharisiens se dirent donc entre eux: Voyez-vous que nous ne gagnons rien? voilà que tout le monde court après lui.
20 And there were certain Greeks out of those coming up that they may worship in the celebration,
Or il y avait quelques gentils, de ceux qui étaient venus adorer à la fête.
21 these then came near to Philip, who [is] from Bethsaida of Galilee, and were asking him, saying, “Lord, we wish to see Jesus”;
Ceux-ci s’approchèrent de Philippe, qui était de Bethsaïde en Galilée, et ils le priaient disant: Seigneur, nous voudrions voir Jésus.
22 Philip comes and tells Andrew, and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
Philippe vint et le dit à André; puis André et Philippe le dirent à Jésus.
23 And Jesus responded to them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man may be glorified;
Et Jésus leur répondit, disant: L’heure est venue que le Fils de l’homme doit être glorifié.
24 truly, truly, I say to you, if the grain of the wheat, having fallen to the earth, may not die, itself remains alone; and if it may die, it bears much fruit;
En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si le grain de froment, tombant sur la terre, ne meurt pas,
25 he who is cherishing his life will lose it, and he who is hating his life in this world will keep it to continuous life; (aiōnios g166)
Il reste seul; mais s’il meurt, il porte beaucoup de fruits. Celui qui aime son âme la perdra; et celui qui hait son âme en ce monde, la conserve pour la vie éternelle. (aiōnios g166)
26 if anyone may minister to Me, let him follow Me, and where I am, there My servant will be also; and if anyone may minister to Me—the Father will honor him.
Si quelqu’un me sert, qu’il me suive, et où je suis, là sera aussi mon serviteur. Si quelqu’un me sert, mon Père l’honorera.
27 Now My soul has been troubled; and what will I say—Father, save Me from this hour? But because of this I came to this hour;
Maintenant mon âme est troublée. Et que dirai-je? Mon Père, délivrez-moi de cette heure. Mais c’est pour cela que je suis venu en cette heure.
28 Father, glorify Your Name.” Therefore there came a voice out of Heaven, “I both glorified, and again I will glorify [it]”;
Mon Père, glorifiez votre nom. Vint donc une voix du ciel: Je l’ai glorifié et je le glorifierai encore.
29 the multitude, therefore, having stood and heard, were saying that there has been thunder; others said, “A messenger has spoken to Him.”
Or la foule qui était là et qui avait entendu disait: C’est le tonnerre. D’autres disaient: Un ange lui a parlé.
30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice has not come because of Me, but because of you;
Jésus répondit et dit: Ce n’est pas pour moi que cette voix est venue, mais pour vous.
31 now is a judgment of this world, now will the ruler of this world be cast forth;
C’est maintenant le jugement du monde, maintenant le prince de ce monde sera jeté dehors.
32 and I, if I may be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”
Et moi, quand j’aurai été élevé de la terre, j’attirerai tout à moi;
33 And this He said signifying by what death He was about to die;
(Or il disait cela, pour marquer de quelle mort il devait mourir.)
34 the multitude answered Him, “We heard that the Christ remains out of the Law—throughout the age; and how do You say that it is required that the Son of Man be lifted up? Who is this—the Son of Man?” (aiōn g165)
Le peuple lui répondit: Nous avons appris par la loi que le Christ demeure éternellement; et comment dis-tu, toi: Il faut que le Fils de l’homme soit élevé? Qui est-ce Fils de l’homme? (aiōn g165)
35 Therefore Jesus said to them, “Yet a short time is the light with you; walk while you have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; and he who is walking in the darkness has not known where he goes;
Jésus leur dit donc: C’est pour un peu de temps encore que la lumière est au milieu de vous. Marchez pendant que vous avez la lumière, de peur que les ténèbres ne vous surprennent; celui qui marche dans les ténèbres ne sait où il va.
36 while you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” Jesus spoke these things, and having gone away, He was hid from them,
Pendant que vous avez la lumière, croyez en la lumière, afin que vous soyez des enfants de lumière. Jésus dit ces choses, puis il s’en alla, et se cacha d’eux.
37 yet He, having done so many signs before them, they were not believing in Him,
Mais quoiqu’il eût fait de si grands miracles devant eux, ils ne croyaient pas en lui;
38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said, “LORD, who gave credence to our report? And the arm of the LORD—to whom was it revealed?”
Afin que fût accomplie la parole que le prophète Isaïe a dite: Seigneur, qui a cru à ce qu’il a entendu de nous? Et le bras du Seigneur, à qui a-t-il été révélé?
39 Because of this they were not able to believe, that again Isaiah said,
C’est pourquoi ils ne pouvaient croire; et parce que Isaïe a dit encore:
40 “He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn, and I might heal them”;
Il a aveuglé leurs yeux et endurci leurs cœurs, pour qu’ils ne voient des yeux, et ne comprennent du cœur, et qu’ils ne se convertissent, et que je ne les guérisse.
41 Isaiah said these things when he saw His glory, and spoke of Him.
Isaïe a dit ces choses quand il a vu sa gloire et qu’il a parlé de lui.
42 Still, however, out of the rulers many also believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing, that they might not be put out of the synagogue,
Cependant, même parmi les chefs du peuple, beaucoup crurent en lui; mais à cause des pharisiens, ils ne le confessaient point, de peur d’être rejetés de la synagogue;
43 for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.
Car ils aimèrent la gloire des hommes plus que la gloire de Dieu.
44 And Jesus cried and said, “He who is believing in Me, does not believe in Me, but in Him who sent Me;
Mais Jésus s’écria et dit: Qui croit en moi ne croit pas en moi, mais en celui qui m’a envoyé.
45 and He who is beholding Me, beholds Him who sent Me;
Et qui me voit, voit celui qui m’a envoyé.
46 I—light to the world—have come, that everyone who is believing in Me may not remain in the darkness;
Moi, la lumière, je suis venu dans le monde, afin que quiconque croit en moi ne demeure point dans les ténèbres.
47 and if anyone may hear My sayings, and not believe, I do not judge him, for I did not come that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.
Et si quelqu’un entend mes paroles et ne les garde point, je ne le juge pas, moi, car je ne suis pas venu pour juger le monde, mais pour sauver le monde.
48 He who is rejecting Me, and not receiving My sayings, has one who is judging him, the word that I spoke, that will judge him in the last day,
Celui qui me méprise et ne reçoit pas mes paroles, a qui le juge: la parole que j’ai annoncée sera elle-même son juge au dernier jour.
49 because I did not speak from Myself, but the Father who sent Me, He gave Me a command, what I may say, and what I may speak,
Parce que je n’ai point parlé de moi-même, mais mon Père qui m’a envoyé lui-même m’a prescrit ce que je dois dire et ce dont je dois parler.
