< Job 5 >

1 “Pray, call, is there any to answer you? And to which of the holy ones do you turn?
“Wopɛ a frɛ, na hwan na ɔbɛgye wo soɔ? Akronkronfoɔ no mu hwan nkyɛn na wobɛkorɔ?
2 For provocation slays the perverse, And envy puts to death the simple,
Ahisɛm kum ɔkwasea, na anibereɛ kum atetekwaa.
3 I have seen the perverse taking root, And I mark his habitation straight away,
Mʼankasa mahunu ɔkwasea a ɔrefefɛ, nanso, mpofirim, wɔdomee ne fie.
4 His sons are far from safety, And they are bruised in the gate, And there is no deliverer.
Ne mma ne banbɔ ntam ɛkwan ware, wɔdwerɛ wɔn wɔ asɛnniiɛ a wɔnnya ɔkamafoɔ.
5 Whose harvest the hungry eat, And even take it from the thorns, And the designing swallowed their wealth.
Deɛ ɛkɔm de noɔ no di ne nnɔbaeɛ, na ɔfa firi nkasɛɛ mu mpo, na deɛ osukɔm de noɔ no pere di nʼahodeɛ akyi.
6 For sorrow does not come forth from the dust, Nor does misery spring up from the ground.
Ahokyere mmpue mfiri dɔteɛ mu na ɔhaw nso mmpue mfiri fam.
7 For man is born to misery, And the sparks go high to fly.
Nanso wɔwo nnipa to ɔhaw mu mpɛn dodoɔ a ogyaframa turi kɔ ɔsoro.
8 Yet I inquire for God, And for God I give my word,
“Nanso sɛ ɛyɛ me a, anka mɛdwane atoa Onyankopɔn; na mede mʼasɛm ato nʼanim.
9 Doing great things, and there is no searching. Wonderful, until there is no numbering.
Ɔyɛ anwanwadeɛ a wɔntumi nhwehwɛ mu, ne nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ a wɔntumi nkan ne dodoɔ.
10 Who is giving rain on the face of the land, And is sending waters on the out-places.
Ɔtɔ nsuo gu asase so; na ɔde kɔ wira mu.
11 To set the low on a high place, And the mourners have been high [in] safety.
Ɔde ahobrɛasefoɔ si deɛ ɛkorɔn, na ɔma wɔn a wɔdi awerɛhoɔ nya asomdwoeɛ.
12 Making void thoughts of the cunning, And their hands do not execute wisdom.
Ɔsɛe anifirefoɔ nhyehyɛeɛ, ma wɔn nsa si fam.
13 Capturing the wise in their subtlety, And the counsel of wrestling ones was hurried,
Ɔkyere anyansafoɔ wɔ wɔn anifire mu, na ɔbɔ anitefoɔ nhyehyɛeɛ gu.
14 By day they meet darkness, And as night—they grope at noon.
Esum duru wɔn awia ketee; na wɔkeka owigyinaeɛ te sɛ anadwo.
15 He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth, And from a strong hand,
Ɔgye ahiafoɔ firi afena a ɛhyɛ wɔn anomu; ɔgye wɔn firi ahoɔdenfoɔ nkyehoma mu.
16 And there is hope for the poor, And perverseness has shut her mouth.
Enti, ahiafoɔ wɔ anidasoɔ, na ntɛnkyea ka nʼano to mu.
17 Behold, the blessedness of mortal man, God reproves him: And do not despise the discipline of the Mighty,
“Nhyira ne onipa a Onyankopɔn tene no, enti mmu Otumfoɔ ntenetene no animtiaa.
18 For He pains, and He binds up, He strikes, and His hands heal.
Ɛfiri sɛ, ɔno na ɔpira na ɔno ara akyekyere; ɔpira nanso ne nsa sa yadeɛ.
19 In six distresses He delivers you, And in seven evil does not strike on you.
Ɔbɛgye wo afiri ɔhaw ahodoɔ nsia mu; nson so, a bɔne biara renka wo.
20 In famine He has redeemed you from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword.
Ɛkɔm ba a, ɔbɛgye wo afiri owuo mu, na ɔko mu nso, ɔbɛgye wo afiri afena ano.
21 When the tongue scourges you are hid, And you are not afraid of destruction, When it comes.
Wɔbɛbɔ wo ho ban afiri kasatwie ho na sɛ ɔsɛeɛ ba a, ɛnsɛ sɛ wosuro.
22 At destruction and at hunger you mock, And of the beast of the earth, You are not afraid.
Wobɛsere ɔsɛeɛ ne ɔkɔm; na ɛnsɛ sɛ wosuro asase so mmoa.
23 (For with sons of the field [is] your covenant, And the beast of the field Has been at peace with you.)
Wo ne afuo so aboɔ bɛyɛ apam, na emu nkekaboa nso ne wo bɛtena asomdwoeɛ mu.
24 And you have known that your tent [is] peace, And inspected your habitation, and do not err,
Wobɛhunu sɛ wo ntomadan wɔ banbɔ; na sɛ wosese wʼahodeɛ a, wobɛhunu sɛ hwee nyeraeɛ.
25 And have known that your seed [is] numerous, And your offspring as the herb of the earth;
Wobɛhunu sɛ wo mma bɛyɛ bebree; na wʼasefoɔ bɛdɔre sɛ ɛserɛ.
26 You come in full age to the grave, As the going up of a stalk in its season.
Wode ahoɔden bɛkɔ damena mu, te sɛ afiafi a wɔaboa ano wɔ otwa berɛ mu.
27 Behold, this—we searched it out—it [is] right, listen; And you, know for yourself!”
“Yɛahwehwɛ yei mu, na ɛyɛ nokorɛ ɛno enti tie na fa toto wʼabrabɔ ho.”
