Job 42

1 And Job answers YHWH and says:

Und Hiob antwortete dem HERRN und sprach:

2 “You have known that [for] all things You are able, And no purpose is withheld from You.

ich erkenne, daß du alles vermagst, und kein Gedanke ist dir verborgen.

3 [You said], Who [is] this hiding counsel without knowledge? Therefore, I have declared, and do not understand, Too wonderful for me, and I do not know.

Es ist ein unbesonnener Mann, der seinen Rat meinet zu verbergen. Darum bekenne ich, daß ich habe unweislich geredet, das mir zu hoch ist und nicht verstehe.

4 Please hear, and I speak; [You said], I ask you, and you cause Me to know.

So erhöre nun, laß mich reden; ich will dich fragen, lehre mich!

5 By the hearing of the ear I heard You, And now my eye has seen You.

Ich habe dich mit den Ohren gehöret, und mein Auge siehet dich auch nun.

6 Therefore I loathe [it], And I have sighed on dust and ashes.”

Darum schuldige ich mich und tue Buße in Staub und Asche.

7 And it comes to pass after YHWH’s speaking these words to Job, that YHWH says to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My anger has burned against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken correctly concerning Me, like My servant Job.

Da nun der HERR diese Worte mit Hiob geredet hatte; sprach er zu Eliphas von Theman: Mein Zorn ist ergrimmet über dich und über deine zween Freunde; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.

8 And now, take seven bullocks and seven rams for yourselves, and go to My servant Job, and you have caused a burnt-offering to ascend for yourselves; and Job My servant prays for you, for surely I accept his face, so as not to do folly with you, because you have not spoken correctly concerning Me, like My servant Job.”

So nehmet nun sieben Farren und sieben Widder und gehet hin zu meinem Knechte Hiob und opfert Brandopfer für euch und laßt meinen Knecht Hiob für euch bitten. Denn ihn will ich ansehen, daß ich euch nicht sehen lasse, wie ihr Torheit begangen habt; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.

9 And they go—Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, Zophar the Naamathite—and do as YHWH has spoken to them; and YHWH accepts the face of Job.

Da gingen hin Eliphas von Theman, Bildad von Suah und Zophar von Naema und taten, wie der HERR ihnen gesagt hatte. Und der HERR sah an Hiob.

10 And YHWH has turned [to] the captivity of Job in his praying for his friends, and YHWH adds [to] all that Job has—to double.

Und der HERR wendete das Gefängnis Hiobs, da er bat für seine Freunde. Und der HERR gab Hiob zwiefältig so viel, als er gehabt hatte.

11 And all his brothers come to him, and all his sisters, and all his former acquaintances, and they eat bread with him in his house, and bemoan him, and comfort him concerning all the calamity that YHWH had brought on him, and they each gave to him one kesitah, and each one ring of gold.

Und es kamen zu ihm alle seine Brüder und alle seine Schwestern und alle, die ihn vorhin kannten, und aßen mit ihm in seinem Hause und kehreten sich zu ihm und trösteten ihn über allem Übel, das der HERR über ihn hatte kommen lassen. Und ein jeglicher gab ihm einen schönen Groschen und ein gülden Stirnband.

12 And YHWH has blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning, and he has fourteen thousand of a flock, and six thousand camels, and one thousand pairs of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.

Und der HERR segnete hernach Hiob mehr denn vorhin, daß er kriegte vierzehntausend Schafe und sechstausend Kamele und tausend Joch Rinder und tausend Esel.

13 And he has seven sons and three daughters;

Und kriegte sieben Söhne und drei Töchter.

14 and he calls the name of the first Jemima, and the name of the second Kezia, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch.

Und hieß die erste Jemima, die andere Kezia und die dritte Keren-Hapuch.

15 And there have not been found women [as] beautiful as the daughters of Job in all the land, and their father gives to them an inheritance in the midst of their brothers.

Und wurden nicht so schöne Weiber funden in allen Landen als die Töchter Hiobs. Und ihr Vater gab ihnen Erbteil unter ihren Brüdern.

16 And Job lives after this one hundred and forty years, and sees his sons, and his sons’ sons, four generations;

Und Hiob lebte nach diesem hundertundvierzig Jahre, daß er sah Kinder und Kindeskinder bis in das vierte Glied.

17 and Job dies, aged and satisfied [with] days.

Und Hiob starb alt und lebenssatt.
