Job 34
1 And Elihu answers and says:
Entonces Elihú continuó:
2 “Hear, O wise men, my words, And, O knowing ones, give ear to me.
“Escuchen mis palabras, hombres que se creen sabios; presten atención a lo que digo, ustedes que creen que saben.
3 For the ear tries words, And the palate tastes to eat.
El oído distingue las palabras igual que el paladar distingue los alimentos.
4 Let us choose judgment for ourselves, Let us know among ourselves what [is] good.
Discernamos por nosotros mismos lo que es justo; decidamos entre nosotros lo que es bueno.
5 For Job has said, I have been righteous, And God has turned aside my right,
Job dijo: ‘Soy inocente, y Dios me ha negado la justicia.
6 Against my right do I lie? My arrow [is] mortal—without transgression.
Aunque tengo razón, me tratan como a un mentiroso; me estoy muriendo de mis heridas, aunque no he hecho nada malo’.
7 Who [is] a man like Job? He drinks scoffing like water,
“¿Ha habido alguna vez un hombre como Job con tanta sed de ridiculizar a los demás?
8 And he has traveled for company With workers of iniquity, So as to go with men of wickedness.
Se hace compañía de gente malvada; se asocia con los que hacen el mal.
9 For he has said, It does not profit a man When he delights himself with God.
Incluso ha dicho: ‘¿De qué sirve ser amigo de Dios?’
10 Therefore, O men of heart, listen to me; Far be it from God to do wickedness, And [from] the Mighty to do perverseness,
“¡Así que escúchenme, hombres de entendimiento! Es imposible que Dios haga el mal y que el Todopoderoso actué con maldad.
11 For He repays the work of man to him, And according to the path of each He causes him to find.
Él paga a la gente por lo que ha hecho y la trata como se merece.
12 Indeed, truly, God does not do wickedly, And the Mighty does not pervert judgment.
Es absolutamente seguro que Dios no actúa con maldad; el Todopoderoso nunca pervertiría la justicia.
13 Who has inspected for Himself the earth? And who has placed all the habitable world?
¿Quién lo puso a cargo de la tierra? ¿Quién le dio la responsabilidad de todo el mundo?
14 If He sets His heart on him, [If] He gathers His Spirit and His breath to Himself,
Si se retirara su espíritu, si recuperara su aliento,
15 All flesh expires together, And man returns to dust.
todos los seres vivos morirían inmediatamente y los seres humanos volverían al polvo.
16 And if [there is] understanding, hear this, Give ear to the voice of my words.
“Si tienen entendimiento, escuchen esto; presten atención a lo que digo.
17 Indeed, does one hating justice govern? Or do you condemn the Most Just?
¿De verdad crees que puede gobernar alguien que odia la justicia? ¿Vas a condenar a Dios Todopoderoso, que siempre hace lo que es justo?
18 Who has said to a king, Worthless, To princes, Wicked?
Él es quien dice a los reyes: ‘Ustedes son unos inútiles’, o a los nobles: ‘Ustedes son unos malvados’.
19 That has not accepted the person of princes, Nor has known the rich before the poor, For all of them [are] a work of His hands.
No tiene en mayor consideración a los ricos que a los pobres, pues todos son personas que él mismo hizo.
20 [In] a moment they die, And at midnight people shake, And they pass away, And they remove the mighty without hand.
Mueren en un momento; a medianoche se estremecen y pasan; los poderosos se van sin esfuerzo.
21 For His eyes [are] on the ways of each, And He sees all his steps.
“Porque él vigila lo que hacen y ve por donde van.
22 There is no darkness nor death-shade, For workers of iniquity to be hidden there;
No hay oscuridad tan profunda en la que los que hacen el mal puedan esconderse de él.
23 For He does not permit man anymore, To go to God in judgment,
Dios no necesita examinar a nadie con mayor detalle para que se presente ante él para ser juzgado.
24 He breaks the mighty—no searching! And He appoints others in their stead.
Él hace caer a los poderosos sin necesidad de una investigación; pone a otros en su lugar.
25 Therefore He knows their works, And He has overturned by night, And they are bruised.
Sabiendo lo que han hecho, los derriba en una noche y los destruye.
26 As wicked He has struck them, In the place of beholders.
Los derriba por su maldad en público, donde pueden ser vistos
27 Because that against right They have turned aside from after Him, And have considered none of His ways,
porque se apartaron de seguirlo, despreciando todos sus caminos.
28 To cause to come to Him The cry of the poor, And He hears the cry of the afflicted.
Hicieron que los pobres lo llamaran, y él escuchó los gritos de los oprimidos.
29 And He gives rest, and who makes wrong? And hides the face, and who beholds it? And in reference to a nation and to a man, [It is] the same.
Pero si Dios quiere guardar silencio, ¿quién puede condenarlo? Si decide ocultar su rostro, ¿quién podrá verlo? Ya sea que se trate de una nación o de un individuo,
30 From the reigning of a profane man, From the snares of a people;
una persona que rechaza a Dios no debe gobernar para no engañar a la gente.
31 For has any said to God: I have taken away, I do not do corruptly,
“Si tú le dijeras a Dios: ‘He pecado, pero ya no haré cosas malas.
32 Besides [that which] I see, You show me, If I have done iniquity—I do not add?
Muéstrame lo que no puedo ver. Si he hecho el mal, no lo volveré a hacer’,
33 Does He repay by you, that you have refused—That you choose, and not I? And what you have known, speak.
entonces, ¿debe Dios recompensarte por seguir tus propias opiniones ya que has rechazado las suyas? ¡Tú eres el que tiene que elegir, no yo! Dinos lo que piensas.
34 Let men of heart say to me, And a wise man is listening to me:
Porque la gente que entiende – los sabios que han oído lo que he dicho – me dirán
35 Job—he does not speak with knowledge, And his words [are] not with wisdom.
‘Job no sabe lo que dice. Lo que dice no tiene ningún sentido’.
36 My Father! Let Job be tried—to victory, Because of answers for men of iniquity,
Si tan solo Job fuera condenado porque habla como lo hacen los malvados.
37 For he adds to his sin, He vomits transgression among us, And multiplies his sayings to God.”
Ahora ha añadido la rebeldía a sus pecados y nos aplaude, haciendo largos discursos llenos de acusaciones contra Dios”.
