Job 23
1 And Job answers and says:
Hiob antwortete und sprach:
2 “Also—today my complaint [is] bitter, My hand has been heavy because of my sighing.
Meine Rede bleibt noch betrübt; meine Macht ist schwach über meinem Seufzen.
3 O that I had known—and I find Him, I come to His seat,
Ach daß ich wüßte, wie ich ihn finden und zu seinem Stuhl kommen möchte
4 I arrange the cause before Him, And fill my mouth [with] arguments.
und das Recht vor ihm sollte vorlegen und den Mund voll Verantwortung fassen
5 I know the words He answers me, And understand what He says to me.
und erfahren die Reden, die er mir antworten, und vernehmen, was er mir sagen würde!
6 Does He strive with me in the abundance of power? No! Surely He puts [it] in me.
Will er mit großer Macht mit mir rechten? Er stelle sich nicht so gegen mich,
7 There the upright reason with Him, And I escape from mine who is judging—forever.
sondern lege mir's gleich vor, so will ich mein Recht wohl gewinnen.
8 Behold, I go forward—and He is not, And backward—and I do not perceive Him.
Aber ich gehe nun stracks vor mich, so ist er nicht da; gehe ich zurück, so spüre ich ihn nicht;
9 [To] the left in His working—and I do not see, He is covered [on] the right, and I do not behold.
ist er zur Linken, so schaue ich ihn nicht; verbirgt er sich zur Rechten, so sehe ich ihn nicht.
10 For He has known the way with me, He has tried me—I go forth as gold.
Er aber kennt meinen Weg wohl. Er versuche mich, so will ich erfunden werden wie das Gold.
11 My foot has laid hold on His step, I have kept His way, and do not turn aside,
Denn ich setze meinen Fuß auf seine Bahn und halte seinen Weg und weiche nicht ab
12 The command of His lips, and I do not depart. I have laid up above my allotted portion The sayings of His mouth.
und trete nicht von dem Gebot seiner Lippen und bewahre die Rede seines Mundes mehr denn mein eigen Gesetz.
13 And He [is] in one [mind], And who turns Him back? And His soul has desired—and He does [it].
Doch er ist einig; wer will ihm wehren? Und er macht's wie er will.
14 For He completes my portion, And many such things [are] with Him.
Denn er wird vollführen, was mir bestimmt ist, und hat noch viel dergleichen im Sinne.
15 Therefore, I am troubled at His presence, I consider, and am afraid of Him.
Darum erschrecke ich vor ihm; und wenn ich's bedenke, so fürchte ich mich vor ihm.
16 And God has made my heart soft, And the Mighty has troubled me.
Gott hat mein Herz blöde gemacht, und der Allmächtige hat mich erschreckt.
17 For I have not been cut off before darkness, And before me He covered thick darkness.”
Denn die Finsternis macht kein Ende mit mir, und das Dunkel will vor mir nicht verdeckt werden.
