Job 22
1 And Eliphaz the Temanite answers and says:
A Elifas Temanac odgovori i reèe:
2 “Is a man profitable to God, Because a wise man is profitable to himself?
Može li Bogu biti èovjek koristan? Sam je sebi koristan èovjek mudar.
3 Is it a delight to the Mighty One That you are righteous? Is it gain, That you make your ways perfect?
Je li svemoguæemu radost, ako si pravedan? ili mu je dobit, ako hodiš bez mane?
4 Because of your reverence Does He reason [with] you? He enters with you into judgment:
Hoæe li te karati i iæi na sud s tobom zato što te se boji?
5 Is your wickedness not abundant? And there is no end to your iniquities.
Nije li zloæa tvoja velika? i nepravdama tvojim ima li kraja?
6 For you take a pledge of your brother for nothing, And you strip off the garments of the naked.
Jer si uzimao zalog od braæe svoje ni za što, i svlaèio si haljine s golijeh.
7 You do not cause the weary to drink water, And you withhold bread from the hungry.
Umornoga nijesi napojio vode, i gladnome nijesi dao hljeba.
8 As for the man of arm—he has the earth, And the accepted of face—he dwells in it.
Zemlja je bila èovjeka silnoga, i ugledni je sjedio u njoj.
9 You have sent widows away empty, And the arms of the fatherless are bruised.
Udovice si otpuštao prazne, i mišice sirotama potirao si.
10 Therefore snares [are] all around you, And sudden fear troubles you.
Zato su oko tebe zamke, i straši te strah iznenada.
11 Or darkness—you do not see, And abundance of waters covers you.
I mrak je oko tebe da ne vidiš, i povodanj pokriva te.
12 Is God not high [in] the heavens? And see the summit of the stars, That they are high.
Nije li Bog na visini nebeskoj? pogledaj gore zvijezde, kako su visoko.
13 And you have said, How has God known? Does He judge through thickness?
Ali ti kažeš: šta zna Bog? eda li æe kroz tamu suditi?
14 Thick clouds [are] a secret place to Him, And He does not see, And He habitually walks [above] the circle of the heavens.
Oblaci ga zaklanjaju, te ne vidi; hoda po krugu nebeskom.
15 Do you observe the path of the age, That men of iniquity have trodden,
Jesi li zapazio stari put kojim su išli nepravednici,
16 Who have been cut down unexpectedly? A flood is poured out on their foundation.
Koji se iskorijeniše prije vremena i voda se razli po temelju njihovu?
17 Those saying to God, Turn aside from us, And what does the Mighty One do to them?
Govorahu Bogu: idi od nas. Šta bi im uèinio svemoguæi?
18 And He has filled their houses [with] good (And the counsel of the wicked Has been far from me).
A on im je napunio kuæe dobra. Ali namjera bezbožnièka daleko je od mene.
19 The righteous see and they rejoice, And the innocent mocks at them:
Vidjeæe pravednici i radovaæe se, i bezazleni potsmijevaæe im se.
20 Surely our substance has not been cut off, And fire has consumed their excellence.
Da, još nije uništeno dobro naše, a ostatak je njihov proždro oganj.
21 Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace, Thereby your increase [is] good.
Složi se s njim i pomiri se; tako æe ti biti dobro.
22 Please receive a law from His mouth, And set His sayings in your heart.
Primi iz usta njegovijeh zakon, i složi rijeèi njegove u srcu svom.
23 If you return to the Mighty you are built up, You put iniquity far from your tents.
Ako se vratiš k svemoguæemu, opet æeš se nazidati, ako udaljiš od šatora svojih bezakonje,
24 So as to set a defense on the dust, And a covering on a rock of the valleys.
Tada æeš metati po prahu zlato i Ofirsko zlato po kamenju iz potoka.
25 And the Mighty has been your defense, And silver [is] strength to you.
I svemoguæi biæe ti zlato i srebro i sila tvoja.
26 For then you delight yourself on the Mighty, And lift up your face to God,
Jer æeš se tada radovati o Gospodu, i podignuæeš k Bogu lice svoje.
27 You make supplication to Him, And He hears you, And you complete your vows.
Moliæeš mu se, i uslišiæe te, i zavjete svoje izvršiæeš.
28 And you decree a saying, And it is established to you, And light has shone on your ways.
Što god naumiš, izlaziæe ti; i na putovima tvojim svijetliæe vidjelo.
29 For they have made low, And you say, Lift up. And He saves the bowed down of eyes.
Kad drugi budu poniženi, reæi æeš: da se podignu; i Bog æe izbaviti onoga ko je oborenijeh oèiju.
30 He delivers the one [who is] not innocent, Indeed, he has been delivered By the cleanness of your hands.”
Izbaviæe i onoga koji nije bez krivice; izbaviæe se èistotom ruku tvojih.
