Job 21
1 And Job answers and says:
Job progovori i reče:
2 “Hear my word diligently, And this is your consolation.
“Slušajte, slušajte dobro što ću reći, utjehu mi takvu barem udijelite.
3 Bear with me, and I speak, And after my speaking—you may deride.
Otrpite da riječ jednu ja izrečem, kad završim, tad se rugajte slobodno.
4 [Is] my complaint [against] man? And if [so], why may my temper not become short?
Zar protiv čovjeka dižem ja optužbu? Kako da strpljenje onda ne izgubim?
5 Turn to me, and be astonished, And put hand to mouth.
Pogledajte na me: užas će vas spopast', rukom ćete svoja zakloniti usta;
6 Indeed, if I have remembered, then I have been troubled. And my flesh has taken fright.
pomislim li na to, prestravim se i sam i čitavim svojim tad protrnem tijelom.
7 Why do the wicked live? They have become old, Indeed, they have been mighty in wealth.
Zašto na životu ostaju zlikovci i, što su stariji, moćniji bivaju?
8 Their seed is established, Before their face with them, And their offspring before their eyes.
Potomstvo njihovo s njima napreduje a izdanci im se množe pred očima.
9 Their houses [are] peace without fear, Nor [is] a rod of God on them.
Strah nikakav kuće njihove ne mori i šiba ih Božja ostavlja na miru.
10 His bullock breeds without fail. His cow brings forth safely, and does not miscarry.
Njihovi bikovi plode pouzdano, krave im se tele i ne jalove se.
11 They send forth their sucklings as a flock, And their children skip,
K'o jagnjad djeca im slobodno skakuću, veselo igraju njihovi sinovi.
12 They lift [themselves] up at timbrel and harp, And rejoice at the sound of a pipe.
Oni pjevaju uz harfe i bubnjeve i vesele se uz zvukove svirale.
Dane svoje završavaju u sreći, u Podzemlje oni silaze spokojno. (Sheol h7585)
14 And they say to God, Turn aside from us, And the knowledge of Your ways We have not desired.
A govorili su Bogu: 'Ostavi nas, ne želimo znati za tvoje putove!
15 What [is] the Mighty One that we serve Him? And what do we profit when we meet with Him?
TÓa tko je Svesilni da njemu služimo i kakva nam korist da ga zazivamo?'
16 Behold, their good [is] not in their hand (The counsel of the wicked Has been far from me).
Zar svoju sreću u ruci ne imahu, makar do Njega ne drže ništa oni?
17 How often is the lamp of the wicked extinguished, And their calamity comes on them? He apportions pangs in His anger.
Zar se luč opakog kada ugasila? Zar se na njega oborila nesreća? Zar mu u gnjevu svom On skroji sudbinu?
18 They are as straw before wind, And as chaff a windstorm has stolen away,
Zar je kao slama na vjetru postao, kao pljeva koju vihor svud raznosi?
19 God lays up for his sons his sorrow, He gives repayment to him—and he knows.
Hoće l' ga kaznit' Bog u njegovoj djeci? Ne, njega nek' kazni da sam to osjeti!
20 His own eyes see his destruction, And he drinks of the wrath of the Mighty.
Vlastitim očima nek' rasap svoj vidi, neka se napije srdžbe Svesilnoga!
21 For what [is] his delight in his house after him, And the number of his months cut off?
TÓa što poslije smrti on za dom svoj mari kad će se presjeć' niz njegovih mjeseci?
22 Does [one] teach knowledge to God, Since He judges [those] on high?
Ali tko će Boga učiti mudrosti, njega koji sudi najvišim bićima?
23 This [one] dies in his perfect strength, Wholly at ease and quiet.
Jedan umire u punom blagostanju, bez briga ikakvih, u potpunom miru,
24 His breasts have been full of milk, And marrow moistens his bones.
bokova od pretiline otežalih i kostiju sočne moždine prepunih.
25 And this [one] dies with a bitter soul, And has not eaten with gladness.
A drugi umire s gorčinom u duši, nikad nikakve ne okusivši sreće.
26 Together they lie down on the dust, And the worm covers them over.
Obojica leže zajedno u prahu, crvi ih jednako prekrivaju oba.
27 Behold, I have known your thoughts, And the schemes against me you do wrongfully.
O, znam dobro kakve vaše su namjere, kakve zlosti protiv mene vi snujete.
28 For you say, Where [is] the house of the noble? And where the tent—the dwelling places of the wicked?
Jer pitate: 'Gdje je kuća plemićeva, šator u kojem stanovahu opaki?'
29 Have you not asked those passing by the way? And do you not know their signs?
Niste li na cesti putnike pitali, zar njihovo svjedočanstvo ne primate:
30 That the wicked is spared to a day of calamity. They are brought to a day of wrath.
'Opaki je u dan nesreće pošteđen i u dan Božje jarosti veseo je.'
31 Who declares his way to his face? And [for] that which he has done, Who gives repayment to him?
Al' na postupcima tko će mu predbacit' i tko će mu vratit' što je počinio?
32 And he is brought to the graves, And a watch is kept over the heap.
A kad ga na kraju na groblje odnesu, na grobni mu humak postavljaju stražu.
33 The clods of the valley have been sweet to him, And he draws every man after him, And there is no numbering before him.
Lake su mu grude zemlje u dolini dok za njime ide čitavo pučanstvo.
34 And how do you comfort me [with] vanity, And trespass has been left in your answers?”
O, kako su vaše utjehe isprazne! Kakva su prijevara vaši odgovori!”
