< Job 2 >

1 And the day is, that sons of God come to station themselves by YHWH, and there also comes Satan in their midst to station himself by YHWH.
Ó sì tún di ọjọ́ kan nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ Ọlọ́run wá síwájú Olúwa, Satani sì wá pẹ̀lú wọn láti pe níwájú Olúwa.
2 And YHWH says to Satan, “From where have you come?” And Satan answers YHWH and says, “From going to and fro in the land, and from walking up and down in it.”
Olúwa sì bi Satani pé, “Níbo ni ìwọ ti wá?” Satani sì dá Olúwa lóhùn pé, “Láti lọ síwá sẹ́yìn lórí ilẹ̀ ayé àti ní ìrìnkèrindò nínú rẹ̀.”
3 And YHWH says to Satan, “Have you set your heart to My servant Job because there is none like him in the land, a man perfect and upright, fearing God and turning aside from evil? And still he is keeping hold on his integrity, and you move Me against him to swallow him up for nothing!”
Olúwa sì wí fún Satani pé, “Ìwọ ha kíyèsi Jobu ìránṣẹ́ mi, pé, kò sí ẹni tí ó dàbí rẹ̀ ní ayé, ọkùnrin tí ń ṣe olóòtítọ́ tí ó sì dúró ṣinṣin, ẹni tí ó bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run, tí ó sì kórìíra ìwà búburú, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó sì di ìwà òtítọ́ rẹ̀ mu ṣinṣin, bí ìwọ tilẹ̀ ti dẹ mí sí i láti run ún láìnídìí.”
4 And Satan answers YHWH and says, “A skin for a skin, and all that a man has he gives for his life.
Satani sì dá Olúwa lóhùn wí pé, “Awọ fún awọ; àní ohun gbogbo tí ènìyàn ní, òun ni yóò fi ra ẹ̀mí rẹ̀.
5 Yet, put forth Your hand now, and strike to his bone and to his flesh—if not, he blesses You to Your face!”
Ṣùgbọ́n nawọ́ rẹ nísinsin yìí, kí ó tọ́ egungun rẹ̀ àti ara rẹ̀, bí kì yóò sì bọ́hùn ní ojú rẹ.”
6 And YHWH says to Satan, “Behold, he [is] in your hand; only take care of his life.”
Olúwa sì wí fún Satani pé, “Wò ó, ó ń bẹ ní ìkáwọ́ rẹ, ṣùgbọ́n dá ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ sí.”
7 And Satan goes forth from the presence of YHWH, and strikes Job with a severe ulcer from the sole of his foot to his crown.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Satani jáde lọ kúrò níwájú Olúwa, ó sì sọ Jobu ní oówo kíkankíkan láti àtẹ́lẹsẹ̀ títí dé àtàrí rẹ̀.
8 And he takes to him a potsherd to scrape himself with it, and he is sitting in the midst of the ashes.
Ó sì mú àpáàdì, ó fi ń họ ara rẹ̀, ó sì jókòó nínú eérú. (questioned)
9 And his wife says to him, “You are still keeping hold on your integrity: bless God and die.”
Nígbà náà ni aya rẹ̀ wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ di ìwà òtítọ́ mú síbẹ̀! Bú Ọlọ́run, kí ó sì kú!”
10 And he says to her, “As one of the foolish women speaks, you speak; indeed, do we receive the good from God, and we do not receive the bad?” In all this Job has not sinned with his lips.
Ṣùgbọ́n ó dá a lóhùn pé, “Ìwọ sọ̀rọ̀ bí ọ̀kan lára àwọn aṣiwèrè obìnrin ti í sọ̀rọ̀; há bà! Àwa yóò ha gba ìre lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run, kí a má sì gba ibi?” Nínú gbogbo èyí, Jobu kò fi ètè rẹ̀ ṣẹ̀.
11 And three of the friends of Job hear of all this evil that has come on him, and they each come in from his place—Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite—and they have met together to come to bemoan him, and to comfort him;
Nígbà tí àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ Jobu mẹ́ta gbúròó gbogbo ibi tí ó bá a, wọ́n wá, olúkúlùkù láti ibùjókòó rẹ̀; Elifasi, ara Temani àti Bilidadi, ará Ṣuhi, àti Sofari, ará Naama: nítorí pé wọ́n ti dájọ́ ìpàdé pọ̀ láti bá a ṣọ̀fọ̀, àti láti ṣìpẹ̀ fún un.
12 and they lift up their eyes from afar and have not discerned him, and they lift up their voice and weep, and each tears his robe, and sprinkle dust on their heads—heavenward.
Nígbà tí wọ́n gbójú wọn wò ní òkèrè réré, tí wọ́n kò sì mọ̀ ọ́n, wọ́n gbé ohùn wọn sókè, wọ́n sọkún: olúkúlùkù sì fa aṣọ ìgúnwà rẹ̀ ya, wọ́n sì ku erùpẹ̀ sí ojú ọ̀run, wọ́n sì tẹ́ orí gbà á.
13 And they sit with him on the earth seven days and seven nights, and there is none speaking to him a word when they have seen that the pain has been very great.
