< Job 14 >

1 “Man, born of woman! Of few days, and full of trouble!
man to beget woman short day and sated turmoil
2 As a flower he has gone forth, and is cut off, And he flees as a shadow and does not stand.
like/as flower to come out: issue and to languish and to flee like/as shadow and not to stand: stand
3 Also—on this You have opened Your eyes, and bring me into judgment with You.
also upon this to open eye your and [obj] me to come (in): bring in/on/with justice: judgement with you
4 Who gives a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.
who? to give: give pure from unclean not one
5 If his days are determined, The number of his months [are] with You, You have made his limit, And he does not pass over;
if to decide day his number month his with you (statute: allotment his *Q(K)*) to make and not to pass
6 Look away from off him that he may cease, Until he enjoy as a hired worker his day.
to gaze from upon him and to cease till to accept like/as hired day his
7 For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, That it changes again, That its tender branch does not cease.
for there to/for tree hope if to cut: cut and still to pass and shoot his not to cease
8 If its root becomes old in the earth, And its stem dies in the dust,
if be old in/on/with land: soil root his and in/on/with dust to die stock his
9 From the fragrance of water it flourishes, And has made a crop as a plant.
from aroma water to sprout and to make foliage like plantation
10 And a man dies, and becomes weak, And man expires, and where [is] he?
and great man to die and to weaken and to die man and where? he
11 Waters have gone away from a sea, And a river becomes waste and dry.
be gone water from sea and river to dry and to wither
12 And man has lain down, and does not rise, Until the wearing out of the heavens they do not awaken, Nor are roused from their sleep.
and man to lie down: lay down and not to arise: rise till lest heaven not to awake and not to rouse from sleep their
13 O that You would conceal me in Sheol, Hide me until the turning of Your anger, Set a limit for me, and remember me. (Sheol h7585)
who? to give: if only! in/on/with hell: Sheol to treasure me to hide me till to return: turn back face: anger your to set: appoint to/for me statute: portion and to remember me (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man dies—does he revive? All [the] days of my warfare I wait, until my change comes.
if to die great man to live all day army: duty my to wait: wait till to come (in): come change my
15 You call, and I answer You; To the work of Your hands You have desire.
to call: call to and I to answer you to/for deed: work hand your to long
16 But now, You number my steps, You do not watch over my sin.
for now step my to recount not to keep: look at upon sin my
17 My transgression [is] sealed up in a bag, and You sew up my iniquity.
to seal in/on/with bundle transgression my and to smear upon iniquity: crime my
18 And yet, a falling mountain wastes away, and a rock is removed from its place.
and but mountain: mount to fall: fall to wither and rock to proceed from place his
19 Waters have worn away stones, Their outpourings wash away the dust of earth, And You have destroyed the hope of man.
stone to beat water to overflow outpouring her dust land: soil and hope human to perish
20 You prevail [over] him forever, and he goes, He is changing his countenance, And You send him away.
to prevail him to/for perpetuity and to go: went to change face his and to send: depart him
21 His sons are honored, and he does not know; And they are little, and he does not attend to them.
to honor: honour son: child his and not to know and be little and not to understand to/for them
22 Only—his flesh is pained for him, And his soul mourns for him.”
surely flesh his upon him to pain and soul: myself his upon him to mourn
