Jeremiah 8
1 “At that time,” A declaration of YHWH, “They bring the bones of the kings of Judah, And the bones of its princes, And the bones of the priests, And the bones of the prophets, And the bones of inhabitants of Jerusalem, Out of their graves,
ആ കാലത്തു അവർ യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ അസ്ഥികളെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അസ്ഥികളെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ അസ്ഥികളെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ അസ്ഥികളെയും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളുടെ അസ്ഥികളെയും ശവക്കുഴികളിൽനിന്നെടുത്തു,
2 And have spread them to sun, and to moon, And to all the host of the heavens, that they have loved, And that they have served, And that they have walked after, And that they have sought, And to which they have bowed themselves, They are not gathered, nor buried, They are for dung on the face of the ground.
തങ്ങൾ സ്നേഹിച്ചതും സേവിച്ചതും പിഞ്ചെന്നു അന്വേഷിച്ചതും നമസ്കരിച്ചതുമായ സൂൎയ്യന്നും ചന്ദ്രന്നും ആകാശത്തിലെ സൎവ്വസൈന്യത്തിന്നും മുമ്പാകെ അവയെ നിരത്തിവെക്കും; ആരും അവയെ പെറുക്കിക്കൂട്ടുകയോ കുഴിച്ചിടുകയോ ചെയ്കയില്ല; അവ നിലത്തിന്നു വളമായിത്തീരും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.
3 And death is chosen rather than life By all the remnant who are left of this evil family, In all the remaining places, to where I have driven them,” A declaration of YHWH of Hosts.
ഈ ദുഷ്ടവംശങ്ങളിൽ ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ശേഷിപ്പു ഒക്കെയും, ഞാൻ അവരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന സകലസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവർ തന്നേ, ജീവനെയല്ല മരണത്തെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.
4 “And you have said to them, Thus said YHWH: Do they fall, and not rise? Does he turn back, and not return?
നീ അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഒരുത്തൻ വീണാൽ എഴുനീല്ക്കയില്ലയോ? ഒരുത്തൻ വഴി തെറ്റിപ്പോയാൽ മടങ്ങിവരികയില്ലയോ?
5 Why has this people of Jerusalem Turned back—a continuous backsliding? They have kept hold on deceit, They have refused to turn back.
യെരൂശലേമിലെ ഈ ജനമോ ഇടവിടാത്ത പിന്മാറ്റമായി പിന്മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നതും വഞ്ചന മുറുകെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു മടങ്ങിവരുവാൻ മനസ്സില്ലാതിരിക്കുന്നതും എന്തു?
6 I have given attention, indeed, I listen, They do not speak right, No man has sighed over his wickedness, Saying, What have I done? Everyone has turned to his courses, As a horse is rushing into battle.
ഞാൻ ശ്രദ്ധവെച്ചു കേട്ടു; അവർ നേരു സംസാരിച്ചില്ല; അയ്യോ ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്തുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ആരും തന്റെ ദുഷ്ടതയെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചില്ല; കുതിര പടെക്കു പായുന്നതുപോലെ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ വഴിക്കു തിരിയുന്നു.
7 Even a stork in the heavens has known her seasons, And turtle, and swallow, and crane, Have watched the time of their coming, And—My people have not known the judgment of YHWH.
ആകാശത്തിലെ പെരുഞാറ തന്റെ കാലം അറിയുന്നു; കുറുപ്രാവും മീവൽപക്ഷിയും കൊക്കും മടങ്ങിവരവിന്നുള്ള സമയം അനുസരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ജനമോ യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായം അറിയുന്നില്ല.
8 How do you say, We [are] wise, And the Law of YHWH [is] with us? Surely, behold, it has worked falsely, The false pen of scribes.
ഞങ്ങൾ ജ്ഞാനികൾ; യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഞങ്ങളുടെ പക്കൽ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ? ശാസ്ത്രിമാരുടെ കള്ളയെഴുത്തുകോൽ അതിനെ വ്യാജമാക്കിത്തീൎത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
9 The wise have been ashamed, They have been frightened, and are captured, Behold, they kicked against a word of YHWH, And what wisdom do they have?
ജ്ഞാനികൾ ലജ്ജിച്ചു ഭ്രമിച്ചു പിടിപെട്ടുപോകും; അവർ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം ധിക്കരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; അവൎക്കു എന്തൊരു ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളു?
10 Therefore, I give their wives to others, Their fields to dispossessors, For from the least even to the greatest, Everyone is gaining dishonest gain, From prophet even to priest, everyone is dealing falsely.
അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അവരുടെ ഭാൎയ്യമാരെ അന്യന്മാൎക്കും അവരുടെ നിലങ്ങളെ അവയെ കൈവശമാക്കുന്നവൎക്കും കൊടുക്കും; അവരൊക്കെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹികൾ ആകുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ വ്യാജം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നു.
11 And they heal the breach of the daughter of My people slightly, Saying, Peace, peace! And there is no peace.
സമാധാനം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കെ സമാധാനം സമാധാനം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവർ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിയുടെ മുറിവിന്നു ലഘുവായി ചികിത്സിക്കുന്നു.
12 They were ashamed when they did abomination! Indeed, they are not ashamed at all, And they have not known blushing, Therefore, they fall among falling ones, They stumble in the time of their inspection, said YHWH.
മ്ലേച്ഛത പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ ലജ്ജിക്കേണ്ടിവരും; അവർ ഒരിക്കലും ലജ്ജിച്ചിട്ടില്ല നാണം അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു വീഴുന്നവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവർ വീണുപോകും; അവരുടെ ദൎശനകാലത്തു അവർ ഇടറി വീഴും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
13 I utterly consume them,” A declaration of YHWH, “There are no grapes in the vine, Indeed, there are no figs in the fig tree, And the leaf has faded, And the strength they have passes from them.
ഞാൻ അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയിൽ മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; അത്തിവൃക്ഷത്തിൽ അത്തിപ്പഴം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; ഇലയും വാടിപ്പോകും; അവരെ ആക്രമിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻ നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
14 Why are we sitting still? Be gathered, and we go into the fortified cities, And we are silent there, For our God YHWH has made us silent, Indeed, He causes us to drink water of gall, For we have sinned against YHWH.
നാം അനങ്ങാതിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു? കൂടിവരുവിൻ; നാം ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ ചെന്നു അവിടെ നശിച്ചുപോക; നാം യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മെ നഞ്ചുവെള്ളം കുടിപ്പിച്ചു നശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
15 Looking for peace—and there is no good, For a time of healing, and behold—terror.
നാം സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ ഒരു ഗുണവും വന്നില്ല; രോഗശമനത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ ഇതാ, ഭീതി!
16 The snorting of his horses has been heard from Dan, From the voice of the neighings of his mighty ones, All the land has trembled, And they come in and consume the land and its fullness, The city and the inhabitants in it.
അവന്റെ കുതിരകളുടെ ചിറാലിപ്പു ദാനിൽനിന്നു കേൾക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ആൺകുതിരകളുടെ മദഗൎജ്ജനംകൊണ്ടു ദേശമൊക്കെയും വിറെക്കുന്നു; അവ വന്നു ദേശത്തെയും അതിലുള്ള സകലത്തെയും നഗരത്തെയും അതിൽ വസിക്കുന്നവരെയും വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയും.
17 For behold, I am sending serpents among you, Vipers that have no charmer, And they have bitten you,” A declaration of YHWH.
ഞാൻ സൎപ്പങ്ങളെയും മന്ത്രം ഫലിക്കാത്ത അണലികളെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ അയക്കും; അവ നിങ്ങളെ കടിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.
18 My sorrow [is] beyond comfort, My heart [is] sick in me.
അയ്യോ, എന്റെ സങ്കടത്തിൽ എനിക്കു ആശ്വാസം വന്നെങ്കിൽ കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു; എന്റെ മനസ്സു വല്ലാതെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
19 Behold, the voice of a cry of the daughter of my people from a far-off land, Is YHWH not in Zion? Is her King not in her? “Why have they provoked Me with their carved images, With the vanities of a foreigner?”
കേട്ടോ, ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നു എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രി: സീയോനിൽ യഹോവ വസിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? അവളുടെ രാജാവു അവിടെ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു. അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾകൊണ്ടും അന്യദേശങ്ങളിലെ മിത്ഥ്യാമൂൎത്തികൾകൊണ്ടും എന്നെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചതെന്തിന്നു?
20 Harvest has passed, summer has ended, And we have not been saved.
കൊയ്ത്തുകഴിഞ്ഞു, ഫലശേഖരവും കഴിഞ്ഞു; നാം രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുമില്ല.
21 For a breach of the daughter of my people I have been broken, I have been dark, Astonishment has seized me.
എന്റെ ജനത്തിൻ പുത്രിയുടെ മുറിവു നിമിത്തം ഞാനും മുറിപ്പെട്ടു ദുഃഖിച്ചുനടക്കുന്നു; സ്തംഭനം എന്നെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why has the health of the daughter of my people not gone up?
ഗിലെയാദിൽ സുഗന്ധതൈലം ഇല്ലയോ? അവിടെ വൈദ്യൻ ഇല്ലയോ? എന്റെ ജനത്തിൻ പുത്രിക്കു രോഗശമനം വരാതെ ഇരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു?
