Jeremiah 5
1 “Go to and fro in streets of Jerusalem, And see now and know, And seek in her broad places, If you find a man, If there is one doing judgment, Seeking steadfastness—Then I am propitious to her.
೧ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ತಿತ್ತ ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಚೌಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಡುಕಿರಿ; ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಂಡು ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುವ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ಇದ್ದಾನೋ? ಇಂತಹ ಸತ್ಪುರುಷನನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದೇ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿರಿ; ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದರೆ ನಾನು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸುವೆನು.
2 And if they say, YHWH lives, Surely they swear to a falsehood.”
೨ಜನರು, “ಯೆಹೋವನ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ” ಎಂದರೂ ಆ ಆಣೆಯು ಸುಳ್ಳೇ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನು ನುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.
3 YHWH, Your eyes, are they not on steadfastness? You have struck them, and they have not grieved, You have consumed them, They have refused to receive instruction, They made their faces harder than a rock, They have refused to turn back.
೩ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಸತ್ಯದ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುತ್ತವಲ್ಲಾ; ನೀನು ಹೊಡೆದರೂ ಅವರು ದುಃಖಪಡಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರೂ ನೀತಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ಒಳಪಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ತಮ್ಮ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಲಿಗಿಂತ ಕಠಿನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪಪಡದೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
4 And I said, “Surely these [are] poor, They have been foolish, For they have not known the way of YHWH, The judgment of their God.
೪ಹೀಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು, “ಇವರು ಬಡವರು, ಮೂರ್ಖರು, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ನ್ಯಾಯವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿಯದವರು;
5 I go to the great, and I speak with them, For they have known the way of YHWH, The judgment of their God.” Surely they have broken the yoke together, They have drawn away the bands.
೫ನಾನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವೆನು; ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾರ್ಗವು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ದೇವರ ನ್ಯಾಯವಿಧಿಗಳೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು” ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡೆನು. ಆದರೆ ಈ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಒಂದು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಗಲ ನೊಗವನ್ನು ಮುರಿದು, ಕಣ್ಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
6 Therefore a lion out of the forest has struck them, A wolf of the deserts spoils them, A leopard is watching over their cities, Everyone who is going out of them is torn, For their transgressions have been many, Their backslidings have been mighty.
೬ಆದಕಾರಣ ಅಡವಿಯ ಸಿಂಹವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದು, ಕಾಡಿನ ತೋಳವು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆ ಹೊಡೆಯುವುದು, ಚಿರತೆಯು ಅವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಡುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನೂ ಸೀಳುವುದು. ಅವರ ಅಪರಾಧಗಳು ಬಹಳ, ಅವರ ದ್ರೋಹಗಳು ಅಪಾರ.
7 “I am not propitious to you for this, Your sons have forsaken Me, And are satisfied by [those who are] not gods, I satisfy them, and they commit adultery, And at the house of a harlot They gather themselves together.
೭ಯೆಹೋವನು, “ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಲಿ? ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ದೇವರಲ್ಲದವುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆಯಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಆಹಾರಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮೇಲೂ ಅವರು ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡಿದರು, ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರಿಣಿಯರ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಂಪುಕೂಡಿದರು.
8 Fed horses—they have been early risers, They each neigh to the wife of his neighbor.
೮ಕೊಬ್ಬಿ ಅತ್ತಿತ್ತ ಓಡಾಡುವ ಕುದುರೆಗಳಂತೆ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಮೋಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
9 Do I not lay a charge for these?” A declaration of YHWH, “And on a nation such as this, Does My soul not avenge itself?
೯ನಾನು ಇವುಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ದಂಡಿಸಬಾರದೋ? ಇಂತಹ ಜನಾಂಗದ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ರೋಷವನ್ನು ತೀರಿಸದಿರುವೆನೋ” ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನು ನುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.
10 Go up on her walls, and destroy, And I do not make a completion, Turn her branches aside, For they [are] not YHWH’s,
೧೦“ಚೀಯೋನೆಂಬ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿ ತೋಟದ ಸಾಲುಗಿಡಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿರಿ, ಆದರೆ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲಮಾಡಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಅದರ ರೆಂಬೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿರಿ, ಅವು ಯೆಹೋವನವುಗಳಲ್ಲ.
11 For the house of Israel has dealt treacherously against Me, And the house of Judah,” A declaration of YHWH.
೧೧ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ವಂಶದವರೂ, ಯೆಹೂದ ವಂಶದವರೂ ನನಗೆ ಕೇವಲ ದ್ರೋಹವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನು ನುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.
12 They have lied against YHWH, And they say, “[It is] not He, Nor does evil come in against us, Indeed, we do not see sword and famine.
೧೨ಅವರು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಗಳೆದು, ‘ಆತನು ಏನು ಮಾಡುವನು? ನಮಗೆ ಕೇಡುಬಾರದು, ಖಡ್ಗವೂ, ಕ್ಷಾಮವೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಬೀಳವು;
13 And the prophets become wind, And the word is not in them, Thus it is done to them.”
೧೩ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ಬರೀ ಗಾಳಿಯೇ, ದೈವೋಕ್ತಿಯು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಆಗಲಿ’” ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
14 Therefore, thus said YHWH, God of Hosts: “Because of your speaking this word, Behold, I am making My words become fire in your mouth, And this people wood, And it has devoured them.
೧೪ಹೀಗಿರಲು ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೆಂಬ ದೇವರು, “ನೀವು ಹೀಗೆ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆಹಾ, ನಾನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿನ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ, ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸೌದೆಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ ಮಾಡುವೆನು, ಅದು ಅವರನ್ನು ದಹಿಸಿಬಿಡುವುದು.
15 Behold, I am bringing against you a nation from afar, O house of Israel,” A declaration of YHWH, “It [is] a strong nation, It [is] an ancient nation, A nation whose tongue you do not know, Nor understand what it speaks.
೧೫ಇಗೋ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ವಂಶವೇ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳು, ನಾನು ಒಂದು ಜನಾಂಗವನ್ನು ದೂರದಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರಮಾಡುವೆನು. ಅದು ತಲತಲಾಂತರಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾದ ಜನಾಂಗ, ಅದರ ಭಾಷೆಯು ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದು, ಅದು ಆಡುವ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾರೆ.
16 Its quiver [is] as an open tomb, All of them—mighty ones.
೧೬ಅದರ ಬತ್ತಳಿಕೆಯು ಬಾಯ್ದೆರೆದ ಗೋರಿಯೇ, ಅದರ ಭಟರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಶೂರರೇ.
17 And it has consumed your harvest and your bread, They consume your sons, and your daughters, It consumes your flock, and your herd, It consumes your vine and your fig tree, It makes your fortified cities poor, In which you are trusting—by the sword.
೧೭ಇವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಬೆಳೆಯನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡು ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ದನ ಮತ್ತು ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾಲತೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಂಜೂರದ ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನೂ ತಿಂದುಬಿಡುವರು. ನಿನ್ನ ಭರವಸೆಯ ಕೋಟೆಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವರು.
18 And even in those days,” A declaration of YHWH, “I do not make you a completion.
೧೮ಆದರೆ ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲಮಾಡೆನು, ಇದು ಯೆಹೋವನೆಂಬ ನನ್ನ ನುಡಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
19 And it has come to pass, when you say, Why has our God YHWH done all these [things] to us? That you have said to them, As you have forsaken Me, And serve the gods of a foreigner in your land, So you serve strangers in a land [that is] not yours.
೧೯“ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಮಗೆ ಏಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ?” ಎಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರು ಅನ್ನುವಾಗ ನೀನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು, ಸ್ವದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಪರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯರನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು.
20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, And sound it in Judah, saying,
೨೦ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಮನೆತನದೊಳಗೆ ಇದನ್ನು ಸಾರಿರಿ, ಯೆಹೂದದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿರಿ,
21 Now hear this, O people, foolish and without heart, They have eyes, and they do not see, They have ears, and they do not hear.
೨೧ಕಣ್ಣಿದ್ದರೂ ಕಾಣದ, ಕಿವಿ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಕೇಳದ, ಬುದ್ಧಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಮೂಢ ಜನರೇ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ,
22 Do you not fear Me?” A declaration of YHWH; “Are you not pained from My presence? Who has made sand the border of the sea, A perpetual limit, and it does not pass over it, They shake themselves, and they are not able, Indeed, its billows have sounded, and they do not pass over.
೨೨ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಅಂಜುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ, ನನ್ನೆದುರಿಗೆ ನಡುಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಸಮುದ್ರವು ದಾಟದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮರಳನ್ನು ನಿತ್ಯನಿಬಂಧನೆಯಿಂದ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದೇನಷ್ಟೆ. ತೆರೆಗಳು ಅಲ್ಲಕಲ್ಲೋಲವಾದರೂ ಮೀರಲಾರವು, ಭೋರ್ಗರೆದರೂ ಹಾಯಲಾರವು.
23 And this people has an apostatizing and rebelling heart, They have turned aside, and they go on.
೨೩ಈ ಜನರ ಹೃದಯವೋ ನನ್ನ ಅಧೀನ ತಪ್ಪಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದಿದೆ; ಇವರು ನನ್ನ ಅಧೀನವನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
24 And they have not said in their heart, Now let us fear our God YHWH, who is giving rain, The autumn rain and the spring rain, in its season, He keeps the appointed weeks of harvest for us.
೨೪“ಮುಂಗಾರು, ಹಿಂಗಾರು ಅಂತು ಸಕಾಲದ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ದಯಪಾಲಿಸಿ, ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯ ಕೆಲವು ವಾರಗಳನ್ನು ನಮಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕಪಡಿಸುವ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಯಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಡೋಣ” ಎಂದು ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
25 Your iniquities have turned these away, And your sins have kept the good from you.
೨೫ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅಪರಾಧಗಳು ನಿಮಗಾಗುವ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಗಳನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿವೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಾಪಗಳು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಒಳಿತನ್ನು ತಡೆದಿದೆ.
26 For the wicked have been found among My people. He watches like one who sets snares, They have set up a trap—they capture men.
೨೬ನನ್ನ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ದುಷ್ಟರು ಕಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಬೇಡರು ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಉರುಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
27 As a cage full of birds, So their houses are full of deceit, Therefore they have been great, and are rich.
೨೭ಪಂಜರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ತುಂಬಿರುವಂತೆ ಅವರ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೋಸದ ಫಲವು ತುಂಬಿದೆ; ಇದರಿಂದ ಧನವಂತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
28 They have been fat, they have shone, Indeed, they have surpassed the acts of the evil, They have not judged judgment, The judgment of the fatherless—and they prosper, And they have not judged the judgment of the needy.
೨೮ಕೊಬ್ಬಿ ಢಾಂಭಿಕರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದುಷ್ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಸ್ಸೀಮರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅನಾಥರ ವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ ಅವರ ಪರವಾಗಿ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಡೆಸರು, ದಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲದವರಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯದೊರಕಿಸರು.
29 Do I not inspect for these,” A declaration of YHWH, “On a nation such as this, Does My soul not avenge itself?
೨೯ನಾನು ಇವುಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ದಂಡಿಸಬಾರದೋ? ಇಂಥಾ ಜನಾಂಗದ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ರೋಷವನ್ನು ತೀರಿಸದಿರುವೆನೋ? ಇದು ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತು ಎಂಬುದೇ.
30 An astonishing and horrible thing has been in the land:
೩೦ಭೀಕರವೂ, ಅಸಹ್ಯವೂ ಆದ ಸಂಗತಿಯು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದುಬಂದಿದೆ;
31 The prophets have prophesied falsely, And the priests bear rule by their means, And My people have loved [it] so, And what do they do at its latter end?”
೩೧ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ಸುಳ್ಳಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಯಾಜಕರು ಅವರಿಂದ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಹೊಂದಿ ದೊರೆತನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನನ್ನ ಜನರು ಇದನ್ನೇ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಕಟ್ಟಕಡೆಗೆ ನೀವು ಏನು ಮಾಡುವಿರಿ?
