Jeremiah 47
1 That which has been the word of YHWH to Jeremiah concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh strikes Gaza:
A palavra do Senhor, que veiu a Jeremias, o propheta, contra os philisteos, antes que Pharaó ferisse a Gaza.
2 “Thus said YHWH: Behold, waters are going up from the north, And have been for an overflowing stream, And they overflow the land and its fullness, The city, and those dwelling in it, And men have cried out, And every inhabitant of the land has howled.
Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que se levantam as aguas do norte, e tornar-se-hão em torrente transbordante, e alagarão a terra e sua plenitude, a cidade, e os que moram n'ella; e os homens clamarão, e todos os moradores da terra uivarão;
3 From the sound of the stamping of the hooves of his mighty ones, From the rushing of his chariot, The noise of his wheels, Fathers have not turned to sons, From feebleness of hands,
Por causa do som do estrepito das unhas dos seus fortes cavallos, por causa do arroido de seus carros e do estrondo das suas rodas: os paes não attenderam aos filhos, por causa da fraqueza das mãos;
4 Because of the day that has come to spoil all the Philistines, To cut off every helping remnant from Tyre and from Sidon. For YHWH is spoiling the Philistines, The remnant of the island of Caphtor.
Por causa do dia que vem, para destruir a todos os philisteos, para cortar a Tyro e a Sidon todo o resto que os soccorra; porque o Senhor destruirá os philisteos, o resto da ilha de Caphtor.
5 Baldness has come to Gaza, Ashkelon has been cut off, O remnant of their valley, Until when do you cut yourself?
A rapadura veiu sobre Gaza, foi desarreigada Ascalon, com o resto do seu valle: até quando te sarjarás?
6 Behold, sword of YHWH, until when are you not quiet? Be removed to your sheath, rest and cease.
Ah espada do Senhor! até quando deixarás de repousar? volta para a tua bainha, descança, e aquieta-te.
7 How will it be quiet, And YHWH has given a charge to it, Against Ashkelon and against the seashore? He has appointed it there!”
Mas como te aquietarias? pois o Senhor deu-lhe mandado contra Ascalon, e contra as bordas do mar: e ali lh'o tem prescripto.
