Jeremiah 43

1 And it comes to pass, when Jeremiah finishes speaking to all the people all the words of their God YHWH, with which their God YHWH has sent him to them—all these words—

E sucedeu que, acabando Jeremias de falar a todo o povo todas as palavras do Senhor Deus deles, com as quais o Senhor Deus deles lho havia enviado, para que lhes dissesse todas estas palavras,

2 that Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all the proud men, speak to Jeremiah, saying, “You are speaking falsehood; our God YHWH has not sent you to say, Do not enter Egypt to sojourn there;

Então disse Azarias, filho de Hosaias, e Johanan, filho de Careah, e todos os homens soberbos, dizendo a Jeremias: Tu dizes mentiras; o Senhor nosso Deus não te enviou a dizer: Não entreis no Egito, para lá peregrinar:

3 for Baruch son of Neriah is moving you against us, in order to give us up into the hand of the Chaldeans, to put us to death, and to remove us to Babylon.”

Antes Baruch, filho de Nerias, te incita contra nós, para entregar-nos na mão dos caldeus, para nos matarem, ou para nos transportarem para Babilônia.

4 And Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces, and all the people, have not listened to the voice of YHWH, to dwell in the land of Judah;

Não obedeceu pois Johanan, filho de Careah, nem nenhum de todos os príncipes dos exércitos, nem todo o povo, à voz do Senhor, para ficarem na terra de Judá.

5 and Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces, take all the remnant of Judah who have turned from all the nations to where they were driven to sojourn in the land of Judah,

Antes tomou Johanan, filho de Careah, e todos os príncipes dos exércitos a todo o resto de Judá, que havia voltado dentre todas as nações, para onde haviam sido lançados, para peregrinarem na terra de Judá;

6 the men, and the women, and the infant, and the daughters of the king, and every person that Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch son of Neriah,

Os homens, e as mulheres, e os meninos, e as filhas do rei, e a toda a alma que deixara Nebuzaradan, capitão dos da guarda, com Gedalias, filho de Ahicam, filho de Saphan; como também a Jeremias, o profeta, e a Baruch, filho de Nerias:

7 and they enter the land of Egypt, for they have not listened to the voice of YHWH, and they come as far as Tahpanhes.

E entraram na terra do Egito, porque não obedeceram à voz do Senhor; e vieram até Tahpanhes.

8 And there is a word of YHWH to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,

Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, em Tahpanhes, dizendo:

9 “Take great stones in your hand, and you have hidden them in the clay in the brick-kiln, that [is] at the opening of the house of Pharaoh in Tahpanhes, before the eyes of the men of Judah,

Toma na tua mão pedras grandes, e esconde-as entre o barro no forno que está à porta da casa de faraó em Tahpanhes, perante os olhos de homens judeus.

10 and you have said to them, Thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: Behold, I am sending, and I have taken Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and I have set his throne above these stones that I have hid, and he has stretched out his pavilion over them,

E dize-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que eu enviarei, e tomarei a Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, meu servo, e porei o seu trono sobre estas pedras que escondi; e estenderá a sua tenda real sobre elas.

11 and he has come, and struck the land of Egypt—those who [are] for death to death, and those who [are] for captivity to captivity, and those who [are] for the sword to the sword.

E virá, e ferirá a terra do Egito: quem para a morte, para a morte; e quem para o cativeiro, para o cativeiro; e quem para a espada, para a espada.

12 And I have kindled a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt, and it has burned them, and he has taken them captive, and covered himself with the land of Egypt, as the shepherd covers himself with his garment, and he has gone forth there in peace;

E porei fogo às casas dos deuses do Egito, e queima-los-á, e leva-los-á cativos; e vestir-se-á da terra do Egito, como se veste o pastor do seu vestido, e sairá dali em paz.

13 and he has broken the standing pillars of the house of the sun, that [is] in the land of Egypt, and he burns the houses of the gods of Egypt with fire.”

E quebrará as estátuas de Beth-semes, que está na terra do Egito; e as casas dos deuses do Egito queimará a fogo.
