< Jeremiah 30 >

1 The word that has been to Jeremiah from YHWH, saying,
The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying: —
2 “Thus spoke YHWH, God of Israel, saying, Write for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you on a scroll.
Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Write thee all the words which I have spoken to thee in a book.
3 For behold, days are coming—a declaration of YHWH—and I have turned back [to] the captivity of My people Israel and Judah, said YHWH, and I have caused them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they possess it.”
For behold the days come, saith Jehovah, when I will bring back the captives of my people Israel and Judah, saith Jehovah, and cause them to return to the land which I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
4 And these [are] the words that YHWH has spoken concerning Israel and concerning Judah:
And these are the words which Jehovah spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.
5 Surely thus said YHWH: “We have heard a voice of trembling, Fear—and there is no peace.
Behold, thus saith Jehovah: The voice of trembling do we hear; There is alarm, and no peace.
6 Now ask and see, is a male bringing forth? Why have I seen every man [With] his hands on his loins, as a travailing woman, And all faces have been turned to paleness?
Ask ye now and see, Whether a male doth bring forth? Why then do I see every man's hands upon his loins, like a woman in travail? And why are all faces turned into paleness?
7 Woe! For that day [is] great, without any like it, Indeed, it [is] the time of Jacob’s tribulation, Yet he is saved out of it.
Alas! that day is great, So that there is none like it; It is a time of trouble for Jacob, Yet shall he be saved from it.
8 And it has come to pass in that day, A declaration of YHWH of Hosts, I break his yoke from off your neck, And I draw away your bands, And strangers lay no more service on him.
For in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will break his yoke from his neck, And his bands will I burst asunder, And he shall be subject to strangers no more.
9 And they have served their God YHWH, And David their king whom I raise up to them.
But they shall serve Jehovah, their God, And David, their king, whom I will raise up for them.
10 And you, do not be afraid, My servant Jacob, A declaration of YHWH, Nor be frightened, O Israel, For behold, I am saving you from afar, And your seed from the land of their captivity, And Jacob has turned back and rested, And is quiet, and there is none troubling.
Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith Jehovah, And be not thou dismayed, O Israel! For, behold, I will bring thee safe from afar, And thy posterity from the land of their captivity; And Jacob shall return, and be at rest; Yea, he shall be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.
11 For I [am] with you,” A declaration of YHWH, “To save you, For I make an end of all the nations To where I have scattered you, Only, I do not make an end of you, And I have disciplined you in judgment, And do not entirely acquit you.”
For I will be with thee, saith Jehovah, to save thee; When I shall make a full end of all the nations Whither I have dispersed thee, Yet will I not make a full end of thee; I will correct thee in measure, Yet must I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
12 For thus said YHWH: “Your breach is incurable, your stroke grievous,
For thus saith Jehovah: Thy bruise is incurable; Thy wound is mortal.
13 There is none judging your cause to bind up, There are no healing medicines for you.
No one offereth his help for thy cure; No healing medicines are applied to thee.
14 All loving you have forgotten you, They do not seek you, For I struck you with the stroke of an enemy, The discipline of a fierce one, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, your sins have been mighty!
All thy lovers have forgotten thee; They inquire not after thee. For with the wound of an enemy have I smitten thee, With the chastisement of a cruel one, For the multitude of thine iniquities, Because thy sins were increased.
15 Why do you cry concerning your breach? Your pain [is] incurable, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, Your sins have been mighty! I have done these to you.
Why criest thou because of thy bruise? Thy pain is without remedy. For the multitude of thine iniquities, Because thy sins were increased, Have I done these things to thee.
16 Therefore all consuming you are consumed, And all your adversaries—all of them—Go into captivity, And your spoilers have been for a spoil, And I give up all your plunderers to plunder.
Yet all they that devour thee shall be devoured, And all thine enemies, yea, all of them, shall go into captivity, And they that spoil thee shall become a spoil, And all that plunder thee will I give up to plunder.
17 For I increase health to you, And I heal you from your strokes,” A declaration of YHWH, “For they have called you an outcast, [saying], It [is] Zion, There is none seeking for her.”
For I will restore soundness to thee, And I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith Jehovah; For they have called thee the outcast, Zion, whom no man careth for.
18 Thus said YHWH: “Behold, I turn back [to] the captivity of the tents of Jacob, And I pity his dwelling places, And the city has been built on its heap, And the palace remains according to its ordinance.
Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will bring back the captives of the tents of Jacob, And I will have pity upon his dwelling-places, And the city shall be builded upon her heap, And the palace shall be inhabited as of old.
19 And thanksgiving has gone forth from them, And the voice of playful ones, And I have multiplied them and they are not few, And made them honorable, and they are not small.
And out of them shall go forth thanksgiving, And the voice of them that make merry. And I will multiply them, and they shall not be few, And I will exalt them, and they shall not be low.
20 And his sons have been as before, And his congregation is established before Me, And I have seen after all his oppressors.
And their children shall be as aforetime, And their congregation shall be established before me, And I will punish all that oppress them.
21 And his majestic one has been of himself, And his ruler goes forth from his midst, And I have caused him to draw near, And he has drawn near to Me, For who [is] he who has pledged his heart To draw near to Me?” A declaration of YHWH.
And their princes shall be of themselves, And their governor shall proceed from the midst of them. And I will cause them to approach, and they shall come near to me; For who is he that would dare to come near to me? saith Jehovah.
22 “And you have been to Me for a people, And I am to you for God.”
And ye shall be my people, And I will be your God.
23 Behold, a whirlwind of YHWH—Fury has gone forth—a cutting whirlwind, It stays on the head of the wicked.
Behold, a whirlwind from Jehovah, Furious doth it go forth, Even a sweeping whirlwind; Upon the head of the wicked shall it rush.
24 The fierceness of the anger of YHWH Does not turn back until He has done [it], Indeed, until His establishing the purposes of His heart. In the latter end of the days you consider it!
The fierce anger of Jehovah shall not turn back Until he shall have executed, until he shall have accomplished, the purpose of his heart; In a future day ye shall understand it fully.
