Jeremiah 20
1 And Pashhur son of Immer the priest—who [is] also overseer, leader in the house of YHWH—hears Jeremiah prophesying these things,
Pashur, hijo del sacerdote Immer, que era el jefe de la casa de Yahvé, oyó a Jeremías profetizar estas cosas.
2 and Pashhur strikes Jeremiah the prophet, and puts him in the stocks that [are] by the Upper Gate of Benjamin, that [is] by the house of YHWH.
Entonces Pasjur golpeó al profeta Jeremías y lo puso en el cepo que estaba en la puerta superior de Benjamín, que estaba en la casa de Yahvé.
3 And it comes to pass on the next day, that Pashhur brings Jeremiah out from the stocks, and Jeremiah says to him, “YHWH has not called your name Pashhur, but Terror on Every Side.
Al día siguiente, Pasjur liberó a Jeremías del cepo. Entonces Jeremías le dijo: “Yahvé no ha llamado tu nombre Pashur, sino Magormissabib.
4 For thus said YHWH: Behold, I am making you for a fear to yourself, And to all loving you, And they have fallen by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes are beholding, And all Judah I give into the hand of the king of Babylon, And he has removed them to Babylon, And he has struck them with the sword.
Porque Yahvé dice: ‘He aquí que te convertiré en un terror para ti y para todos tus amigos. Caerán por la espada de sus enemigos, y tus ojos lo verán. Entregaré a todo Judá en manos del rey de Babilonia, y él los llevará cautivos a Babilonia, y los matará a espada.
5 And I have given all the strength of this city, And all its labor, and all its precious things, Indeed, I give all the treasures of the kings of Judah into the hand of their enemies, And they have spoiled them, and taken them, And have brought them into Babylon.
Además, entregaré todas las riquezas de esta ciudad, todas sus ganancias y todos sus objetos preciosos, sí, entregaré todos los tesoros de los reyes de Judá en manos de sus enemigos. Los harán cautivos, los tomarán y los llevarán a Babilonia.
6 And you, Pashhur, and all dwelling in your house, Go into captivity. And you enter Babylon, And there you die, and there you are buried, You and all loving you, To whom you have prophesied falsely.”
Tú, Pashur, y todos los que habitan en tu casa irán al cautiverio. Llegarás a Babilonia, y allí morirás, y allí serás enterrado, tú y todos tus amigos, a quienes has profetizado falsamente”.
7 You have persuaded me, O YHWH, and I am persuaded; You have hardened me, and prevail, I have been for a laughter all the day, Everyone is mocking at me,
Yahvé, tú me has persuadido, y yo he sido persuadido. Eres más fuerte que yo y has vencido. Me he convertido en un hazmerreír todo el día. Todo el mundo se burla de mí.
8 Because from the time I speak I cry out, I shout, “Violence and destruction!” For the word of YHWH has been to me For reproach and for derision all the day.
Porque todas las veces que hablo, grito; Grito: “¡Violencia y destrucción!” porque la palabra de Yahvé se ha convertido en un reproche para mí, y una burla, todo el día.
9 And I said, “I do not mention Him, Nor do I speak anymore in His Name,” And it has been in my heart As a burning fire shut up in my bones, And I have been weary of containing, And I am not able.
Si digo que no voy a hacer mención de él, ni hablar más en su nombre, entonces hay en mi corazón como un fuego ardiente encerrado en mis huesos. Estoy cansado de aguantar. No puedo.
10 For I have heard the evil report of many, “Fear [is] all around!” “Declare, and we declare it!” All my allies are watching [for] my halting, “Perhaps he is enticed, and we prevail over him, And we take our vengeance on him.”
Porque he oído la difamación de muchos: “¡Terror por todos lados! Denuncia, y lo denunciaremos”. dicen todos mis amigos conocidos, los que velan por mi caída. “Tal vez se le convenza, y prevaleceremos contra él, y nos vengaremos de él”.
11 And YHWH [is] with me, as a mighty, awesome One, Therefore my persecutors stumble and do not prevail, They have been exceedingly ashamed, For they have not acted wisely, Continuous confusion is not forgotten.
Pero Yahvé está conmigo como un poderoso imponente. Por eso mis perseguidores tropezarán, y no prevalecerán. Estarán totalmente decepcionados porque no han tratado con sabiduría, incluso con un deshonor eterno que nunca será olvidado.
12 And, O YHWH of Hosts, trier of the righteous, Beholder of reins and heart, I see Your vengeance on them, For I have revealed my cause to you.
Pero el Señor de los Ejércitos, que pone a prueba a los justos, que ve el corazón y la mente, déjame ver tu venganza sobre ellos, porque te he revelado mi causa.
13 Sing to YHWH, praise YHWH, For He has delivered the soul of the needy From the hand of evildoers.
¡Canta a Yahvé! Alabado sea Yahvé, porque ha librado el alma del necesitado de la mano de los malhechores.
14 Cursed [is] the day in which I was born, The day that my mother bore me, Let it not be blessed!
Maldito sea el día en que nací. No permitas que el día en que mi madre me dio a luz sea bendecido.
15 Cursed [is] the man who bore tidings [to] my father, Saying, “A male child has been born to you,” Making him very glad!
Maldito sea el hombre que trajo noticias a mi padre, diciendo, “Te ha nacido un niño”, lo que le alegró mucho.
16 Then that man has been as the cities, That YHWH overthrew, and did not relent, And he has heard a cry in the morning, And a shout at noontime.
Que ese hombre sea como las ciudades que Yahvé derribó, y no se arrepintió. Que oiga un grito por la mañana, y gritando al mediodía,
17 Because he has not put me to death from the womb, And my mother is to me—my grave, And her womb [is] a perpetual pregnancy.
porque no me mató desde el vientre. Así que mi madre habría sido mi tumba, y su vientre siempre grande.
18 Why [is] this? I have come out from the womb To see labor and sorrow, Indeed, my days are consumed in shame!
¿Por qué salí del vientre materno para ver el parto y el dolor? que mis días se consuman en la vergüenza?
