Jeremiah 16
1 And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,
Y otra vez vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:
2 “You do not take a wife to yourself, Nor do you have sons and daughters in this place.”
No debes tomar una esposa para ti o tener hijos o hijas en este lugar.
3 For thus said YHWH, Of the sons and of the daughters who are born in this place, And of their mothers—those bearing them, And of their fathers—those begetting them in this land:
Porque esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho acerca de los hijos e hijas que nacen en este lugar, y sobre sus madres que los han dado a luz, y sobre sus padres que les han dado vida en esta tierra:
4 “They die painful deaths, They are not lamented, nor are they buried, For they are dung on the face of the ground, And are consumed by sword and by famine, And their carcass has been for food To the bird of the heavens, And to the beast of the earth.”
La muerte de enfermedades malignas los alcanzará; no habrá llanto para ellos ni nadie los sepultará; serán como estiércol sobre la faz de la tierra; la espada y la necesidad de alimento acabarán con ellos; sus cuerpos muertos serán carne para las aves del cielo y para las bestias de la tierra.
5 For thus said YHWH: “Do not enter the house of a mourning-feast, Nor go to lament nor bemoan for them, For I have removed My peace from this people,” A declaration of YHWH, “The kindness and the mercies.
Porque esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor: No entres en la casa donde estén de luto por un muerto, no vayas a hacerles llorar o cantos de dolor por ellos; porque yo he quitado la paz a este pueblo, dice el Señor: Incluso misericordia y piedad.
6 And great and small have died in this land, They are not buried, and none lament for them, Nor does any cut himself, nor become bald for them.
La muerte alcanzará a los grandes y pequeños en la tierra: sus cuerpos no se colocarán en sepulturas, y nadie llorará por ellos ni se herirá él cuerpo, ni se cortará el cabello por ellos.
7 Nor do they deal out to them for mourning, To comfort him concerning the dead, Nor cause them to drink a cup of consolations For his father and for his mother.
Nadie les hará un banquete de tristeza, para darles consuelo a los muertos, ni se llevarán a la boca la copa de consuelo a causa de su padre o de su madre.
8 You do not enter a house of banqueting, To sit with them, to eat and to drink,”
Y no debes entrar a la casa del banquete, ni sentarte con ellos para comer o beber.
9 For thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: “Behold, I am causing to cease from this place, Before your eyes, and in your days, The voice of joy, and the voice of rejoicing, The voice of bridegroom and voice of bride.
Porque el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, ha dicho: Mira, delante de tus ojos y en tus días acabaré en este lugar con las voces risueñas y la voz de alegría; a la voz del hombre recién casado y la voz de la novia.
10 And it has come to pass, When you declare all these words to this people, And they have said to you, Why has YHWH spoken all this great evil against us? Indeed, what [is] our iniquity, and what [is] our sin, That we have sinned against our God YHWH?
Y será que cuando digas todas estas palabras a la gente, entonces te dirán: ¿Por qué ha hecho el Señor todo este mal contra nosotros? ¿Cuál es nuestra maldad y cuál es nuestro pecado que hemos cometido contra el Señor nuestro Dios?
11 Then you have said to them: Because that your fathers have forsaken Me, A declaration of YHWH, And go after other gods, and serve them, And they bow themselves to them, And have forsaken Me, and not kept My law,
Entonces les dirás: Porque tus padres me han dejado, dice el Señor, y han ido tras otros dioses y se han convertido en sus sirvientes y en sus adoradores, y me han entregado y no han cumplido mi ley;
12 You also have done evil above your fathers, And behold, you are each walking after the stubbornness of his evil heart, So as not to listen to Me.
Y has hecho peor mal que tus padres; para ver, cada uno de ustedes es guiado por el orgullo de su corazón malvado, para no escucharme.
13 And I have cast you from off this land, On to a land that you have not known, You and your fathers, And you have served other gods there by day and by night, Where I do not give grace to you.
Por esta razón te enviaré fuera de esta tierra a una tierra que te es extraña, a ti y a tus padres; Allí serás los siervos de otros dioses día y noche, y no tendré piedad de ustedes.
14 Therefore, behold, days are coming,” A declaration of YHWH, “And it is not said anymore, YHWH lives, who brought up the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt,
Por esta causa, mira, vienen días, dice el Señor, cuando ya no se dirá: Por el Señor vivo, que sacó a los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto.
15 But, YHWH lives, who brought up the sons of Israel out of the land of the north, And out of all the lands to where He drove them, And I have brought them back to their land, That I gave to their fathers.
Pero, por el Señor vivo, que sacó a los hijos de Israel de la tierra del norte y de todos los países a los que los había enviado, y los llevaré de vuelta a la tierra que les di a sus padres.
16 Behold, I am sending for many fishers,” A declaration of YHWH, “And they have fished them, And after this I send for many hunters, And they have hunted them from off every mountain, And from off every hill, and from holes of the rocks.
Mira, enviaré a gran número de pescadores, dice el Señor, y los tomarán como peces en una red; y después de eso, enviaré a buscar un número de arqueros para que los cacen, y los saquen de cada montaña y de cada colina, y fuera de los agujeros de las rocas.
17 For My eyes [are] on all their ways, They have not been hidden from My face, Nor has their iniquity been concealed from before My eyes.
Porque mis ojos están en todos sus caminos: no hay ninguna protección para ellos en mi rostro, y su maldad no se mantiene en secreto ante mis ojos.
18 And I have repaid a first—A second time—their iniquity and their sin, Because of their defiling My land, With the carcass of their detestable things, Indeed, their abominations have filled My inheritance.”
Y les daré la recompensa de su maldad y su pecado dos veces; porque han contaminado mi tierra, y han hecho que mi herencia esté llena de los cuerpos de sus ídolos impíos y repugnantes.
19 O YHWH, my strength, and my fortress, And my refuge in a day of adversity, Nations come to You from the ends of the earth, And say, “Our fathers only inherited falsehood, Vanity, and none among them is profitable.”
Oh Señor, mi fortaleza y mi torre fuerte, mi lugar seguro en el día de la angustia, las naciones vendrán a ti desde los confines de la tierra, y dirán: La herencia de nuestros padres no es más que engaño, vanidades y cosas en las que no hay beneficio.
20 Does man make gods for himself, And they—no gods?
¿Hará un hombre dioses para sí, que no son dioses?
21 “Therefore, behold, I am causing them to know at this time, I cause them to know My hand and My might, And they have known that My Name [is] YHWH!”
Por esta razón, en verdad, los haré ver, esta vez les daré conocimiento de mi mano y mi poder; y estarán seguros de que mi nombre es el Señor.
