James 4

1 From where [are] wars and fightings among you? [Is it] not from here, out of your passions warring in your members?

௧உங்களுக்குள்ளே வாக்குவாதங்களும் சண்டைகளும் எதினாலே வருகிறது; உங்களுடைய அவயவங்களிலே போர்செய்கிற ஆசைகளினாலல்லவா?

2 You desire, and do not have, [so] you murder; and you are zealous, and are not able to attain, [so] you fight and war; and you do not have, because of your not asking;

௨நீங்கள் ஆசைப்பட்டும் உங்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கவில்லை; நீங்கள் கொலைசெய்தும், பொறாமையுள்ளவர்களாக இருந்தும், அடையக்கூடாமல் போகிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் சண்டையும், யுத்தமும் செய்தும், நீங்கள் விண்ணப்பம்செய்யாமல் இருக்கிறதினாலே, உங்களுக்குக் கிடைப்பதில்லை.

3 you ask, and you do not receive, because you ask badly, that you may spend [it] in your pleasures.

௩நீங்கள் விண்ணப்பம்செய்தும், உங்களுடைய ஆசைகளை நிறைவேற்றும்படி செலவழிக்கவேண்டும் என்று தவறான நோக்கத்தோடு விண்ணப்பம்செய்கிறதினால், பெற்றுக்கொள்ளாமல் இருக்கிறீர்கள்.

4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Have you not known that friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever, then, may intend to be a friend of the world, he is designated [as] an enemy of God.

௪விபசாரக்காரர்களே, விபசாரிகளே, உலக நட்பு தேவனுக்கு விரோதமான பகையென்று உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதா? ஆகவே, உலகத்திற்கு நண்பனாக இருக்கவிரும்புகிறவன் தேவனுக்குப் பகைஞனாகிறான்.

5 Or, do you think that the Writing says emptily, “The Spirit that has dwelt in us yearns with envy,”

௫நம்மில் வாசமாக இருக்கிற ஆவியானவர் நம்மிடத்தில் வைராக்கிய வாஞ்சையாக இருக்கிறாரென்று வேதவாக்கியம் வீணாகச் சொல்லுகிறதென்று நினைக்கிறீர்களா?

6 but [God] gives greater grace, for this reason it says, “God sets Himself up against proud ones, and He gives grace to lowly ones.”

௬அவர் அதிகமான கிருபையை அளிக்கிறாரே. ஆதலால் தேவன் பெருமையுள்ளவர்களுக்கு எதிர்த்து நிற்கிறார், தாழ்மையுள்ளவர்களுக்கோ கிருபை அளிக்கிறாரென்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறது.

7 Be subject, then, to God; stand up against the Devil, and he will flee from you;

௭ஆகவே, தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்திருங்கள்; பிசாசுக்கு எதிர்த்து நில்லுங்கள், அப்பொழுது அவன் உங்களைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போவான்.

8 draw near to God, and He will draw near to you; cleanse hands, you sinners! And purify hearts, you split-souled!

௮தேவனிடத்தில் சேருங்கள், அப்பொழுது அவர் உங்களிடம் சேருவார். பாவிகளே, உங்களுடைய கைகளைச் சுத்திகரியுங்கள்; இருமனமுள்ளவர்களே, உங்களுடைய இருதயங்களைப் பரிசுத்தம் செய்யுங்கள்.

9 Be exceedingly afflicted, and mourn, and weep, let your laughter be turned to mourning, and the joy to heaviness;

௯நீங்கள் துயரப்பட்டுப் புலம்பி அழுங்கள்; உங்களுடைய சிரிப்பு புலம்பலாகவும், உங்களுடைய சந்தோஷம் துயரமாகவும் மாறட்டும்.

10 be made low before the LORD, and He will exalt you.

௧0கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழ்மைப்படுங்கள், அப்பொழுது அவர் உங்களை உயர்த்துவார்.

11 Do not speak against one another, brothers; he who is speaking against a brother, and is judging his brother, speaks against law, and judges law, and if you judge law, you are not a doer of law but a judge.

௧௧சகோதரர்களே, ஒருவருக்கொருவர் விரோதமாகப் பேசாதிருங்கள்; சகோதரனுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பேசி, தன் சகோதரனைக் குற்றப்படுத்துகிறவன் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கு விரோதமாகப் பேசி நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் குற்றப்படுத்துகிறான்; நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் குற்றப்படுத்தினால், நீ நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படி செய்கிறவனாக இல்லாமல், அதற்கு நியாயாதிபதியாக இருப்பாய்.

12 One is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy; you—who are you that judges the other?

௧௨நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் கொடுத்தவரும் ஒருவரே, அவரே இரட்சிக்கவும் அழிக்கவும் வல்லவர்; மற்றவனைக் குற்றப்படுத்துகிறதற்கு நீ யார்?

13 Go, now, you who are saying, “Today and tomorrow we will go on to such a city, and will pass there one year, and traffic, and make gain,”

௧௩மேலும், நாங்கள் இன்றைக்கு அல்லது நாளைக்கு இந்த பட்டணத்திற்குச் சென்று, அங்கே ஒரு வருடம் தங்கி, வியாபாரம் செய்து, பணம் சம்பாதிப்போம் என்று சொல்லுகிறவர்களே, கேளுங்கள்.

14 who does not know the thing of tomorrow; for what is your life? For it is a vapor that is appearing for a little [while], and then is vanishing;

௧௪நாளைக்கு நடப்பது உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதே. உங்களுடைய ஜீவன் எப்படிப்பட்டது? கொஞ்சக்காலம்தோன்றி, பின்பு காணாமற்போகிற புகையைப்போல இருக்கிறதே.

15 instead, you [ought] to say, “If the LORD may will, we will live, and do this or that”;

௧௫ஆதலால்: தேவனுக்கு விருப்பமானால், நாங்களும் உயிரோடிருந்தால், இன்னின்னதைச் செய்வோம் என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.

16 but now you glory in your pride; all such glorying is evil;

௧௬இப்பொழுது உங்களுடைய பிடிவாதங்களில் பெருமைகொள்கிறீர்கள்; இப்படிப்பட்ட பெருமையெல்லாம் தீமையாக இருக்கிறது.

17 to him, then, knowing to do good, and not doing [it], it is sin to him.

௧௭ஆதலால், ஒருவன் நன்மைசெய்ய அறிந்தவனாக இருந்தும், அதைச் செய்யாமல்போனால், அது அவனுக்குப் பாவமாக இருக்கும்.
