Isaiah 8
1 And YHWH says to me, “Take a great tablet to yourself, and write on it with an engraving tool of man, To hurry spoil, enjoy prey.”
Et Yahweh me dit: " Prends une grande tablette, et écris-y en caractères lisibles à tous: Hâtez le pillage! Butinez vite! "
2 And I cause faithful witnesses to testify to me, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.
Et je pris avec moi des témoins dignes de foi, le prêtre Urie et Zacharie, fils de Jébarachie.
3 And I draw near to the prophetess, and she conceives, and bears a son; and YHWH says to me, “Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz,
Et je m'approchai de la prophétesse, et elle conçut et enfanta un fils. Et Yahweh me dit: " Appelle-le Maher-Schalal-Chasch-Baz.
4 for before the youth knows to cry, My father, and, My mother, one takes away the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria, before the king of Asshur.”
Car avant que l'enfant sache crier: Mon père, ma mère! on portera les richesses de Damas et les dépouilles de Samarie devant le roi d'Assyrie. "
5 And YHWH adds to speak to me again, saying,
Yahweh me parla encore, en ces termes:
6 “Because that this people has refused The waters of Shiloah that go softly, And is rejoicing with Rezin and the son of Remaliah,
" Parce que ce peuple a méprisé les eaux de Siloé qui coulent doucement, et qu'il se réjouit au sujet de Rasin et du fils de Romélie,
7 Therefore, behold, the Lord is bringing up on them, The waters of the river, the mighty and the great (The king of Asshur, and all his glory), And it has gone up over all its streams, And has gone on over all its banks.
à cause de cela, voici que le Seigneur va faire venir sur eux les eaux du fleuve, fortes et profondes, le roi d'Assyrie et toute sa puissance. Il s'élèvera partout au-dessus de son lit, et se répandra par-dessus toutes ses rives;
8 And it has passed on into Judah, It has overflown and passed over, It comes to the neck, And the stretching out of its wings Has been the fullness of the breadth of your land, O Immanuel!
il pénétrera en Juda, il débordera, il inondera, il montera jusqu'au cou; et le déploiement de ses ailes couvrira toute l'étendue de ton pays, ô Emmanuel. "
9 Be friends, O nations, and be broken, And give ear, all you far-off ones of earth, Gird yourselves, and be broken, Gird yourselves, and be broken.
Poussez des cris de guerre, peuples, et vous serez défaits! prêtez l'oreille, vous toutes, extrémités de la terre! Equipez-vous, et vous serez défaits! Equipez-vous, et vous serez défaits!
10 Take counsel, and it is broken, Speak a word, and it does not stand, Because of Immanuel!”
Formez des projets, et ils seront anéantis; donnez des ordres, et ils resteront sans effet; car Dieu est avec nous!
11 For thus has YHWH spoken to me with strength of hand, and instructs me against walking in the way of this people, saying,
Car ainsi m'a parlé Yahweh, quand sa main me saisit et qu'il m'avertit de ne pas suivre la voie de ce peuple, en disant:
12 “You do not say, A confederacy, To all to whom this people says, A confederacy, And its fear you do not fear, Nor declare fearful.
" N'appelez pas conjuration tout ce que ce peuple appelle conjuration; ne craignez point ce qu'il craint, et ne vous effrayez pas.
13 YHWH of Hosts—Him you sanctify, And He [is] your Fear, and He your Dread,
Yahweh des armées, c'est lui que vous sanctifierez, lui qui sera votre crainte et votre frayeur.
14 And He has been for a sanctuary, And for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of falling, To the two houses of Israel, For a trap and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Et il sera un sanctuaire; mais aussi une pierre d'achoppement et un rocher de scandale pour les deux maisons d'Israël, un filet et un piège pour les habitants de Jérusalem.
15 And many among them have stumbled and fallen, And been broken, and snared, and captured.”
Beaucoup d'entre eux trébucheront, ils tomberont et se briseront; ils seront enlacés et pris.
16 Bind up the testimony, Seal the Law among My disciples.
Lie le témoignage, scelle l'enseignement dans le cœur de mes disciples. "
17 And I have waited for YHWH, Who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob, And I have looked for Him.
J'espère en Yahweh qui cache sa face à la maison de Jacob, et je me confie en lui.
18 Behold, I, and the children whom YHWH has given to me, [Are] for signs and for wonders in Israel, From YHWH of Hosts, who is dwelling in Mount Zion.
Voici que moi et mes enfants que Dieu m'a donnés, nous sommes des signes et des présages en Israël, de la part de Yahweh des armées, qui habite sur la montagne de Sion.
19 And when they say to you, “Seek to those having familiar spirits, And to wizards, who chatter and mutter,” Does a people not seek to its God? To the dead on behalf of the living?
Quand ils vous diront: " Consultez ceux qui évoquent les morts, et les devins qui murmurent et chuchotent, " répondez: " Un peuple ne doit-il pas consulter son Dieu? Consultera-t-il les morts pour les vivants?
20 To the Law and to the testimony! If not, let them say after this manner, “That there is no dawn to it.”
A l'enseignement et au témoignage! " Si le peuple tient un autre langage, il n'y a point pour lui d'aurore.
21 And it has passed over into it, hardened and hungry, And it has come to pass, That it is hungry, and has been angry, And made light of its king, and of its God, And has looked upwards.
Il errera dans le pays, accablé de misère et affamé, et, quand il aura faim, il maudira, dans sa fureur, son roi et son Dieu.
22 And it looks attentively to the land, And behold, adversity and darkness! Dimness, distress, and thick darkness are driven away, But not the dimness for which she is in distress!
Il élèvera ses regards en haut, et les abaissera vers la terre: et voici la détresse, l'obscurité, une sombre angoisse; il sera rejeté dans les ténèbres.
