< Isaiah 57 >

1 The righteous has perished, And there is none laying [it] to heart, And men of kindness are gathered, Without any considering that from the face of evil The righteous one is gathered.
‌ʻOku pekia ʻae kakai māʻoniʻoni, ka ʻoku ʻikai tokanga ki ai ʻe ha tangata: pea ʻoku ʻave ʻae kakai lotu moʻoni, ka ʻe ʻikai ʻilo ʻe ha taha ʻoku ʻave ʻae kakai māʻoniʻoni mei he kovi.
2 He enters into peace, they rest on their beds, [Each] is going straightforward.
Te ne hū ʻi he fiemālie: te nau mālōlō ʻi honau ngaahi mohenga, ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻeveʻeva ʻi he angatonu.
3 “And you, come near here, O sons of a sorceress, seed of an adulterer, Even you commit whoredom.
“Kae ʻunuʻunu mai ki heni, ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi tama ʻae fefine fiemana, ko e hako ʻoe tonofefine mo e feʻauaki.
4 Against whom do you sport yourselves? Against whom do you enlarge the mouth [And] prolong the tongue? Are you not children of transgression? A false seed?
‌ʻOku mou manuki kia hai? ʻOku fakamanga homou ngutu kia hai, pea fakateteʻe ʻae ʻelelo? ʻIkai ko e fānau ʻakimoutolu ʻoe angatuʻu, ko e hako ʻoe loi,
5 Who are inflamed among oaks, under every green tree, Slaughtering the children in valleys, Under clefts of the rocks.
‌ʻOku fakavela ʻaki ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi tamapua ʻi he lolo ʻakau moʻui kotoa pē, ʻo tāmateʻi ʻae fānau tupu ʻi he ngaahi teleʻa, ʻi he lalo lilifa?
6 Your portion [is] among the smooth things of a brook, They [are] your lot, You have also poured out an oblation to them, You have caused a present to ascend, Am I comforted in these things?
‌ʻOku ʻi he ngaahi maka molemole ʻoe vaitafe ʻa ho ʻinasi; ko ia, ʻio, ko ia foki ko ho ʻinasi: ʻio, kuo ke lilingi ki ai ʻae feilaulau inu, kuo ke ʻatu ki ai ʻae feilaulau kai. Pea te u maʻu koā ʻae fiemālie ʻi he ngaahi meʻa ni?
7 On a mountain, high and exalted, You have set your bed, You have also gone up there to make a sacrifice.
Kuo ke ʻai ho mohenga ʻi he moʻunga māʻolunga: ʻio, naʻa ke ʻalu hake ki ai ke fai hoʻo feilaulau.
8 And behind the door, and the post, You have set up your memorial, For you have removed from Me, and go up, You have enlarged your bed, And cut [a covenant] with them, You have loved their bed, the station you saw,
Pea ʻi he tuʻa matapā mo e tuʻa pou kuo ke fokotuʻu hoʻo fakamanatu: he kuo ke liʻaki au mā ha taha kehe, pea kuo ke ʻalu hake, kuo ke fakalahi ho mohenga, pea fai ʻae fuakava mo kinautolu; naʻa ke manako ki honau mohenga ʻi he potu naʻa ke mamata ki ai.
9 And go joyfully to the king in ointment, And multiply your perfumes, And send your ambassadors far off, And humble yourself to Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
Pea ne ke ʻalu ki he tuʻi mo e meʻa tākai, pea naʻe fakalahi hoʻo ngaahi meʻa namu kakala, pea fekau ki he mamaʻo hoʻo kau talafekau, pea ne ke fakalieliaʻi koe ʻo aʻu ki heli. (Sheol h7585)
10 You have labored in the greatness of your way, You have not said, It is desperate. You have found the life of your hand, Therefore you have not been sick.
Kuo ke ongosia ʻi hono lahi ʻo ho hala; ka naʻe ʻikai te ke pehē, ‘ʻOku ʻikai ha ʻamanaki:’ kuo ke ʻilo ʻae moʻui ʻa ho nima; ko ia naʻe ʻikai te ke mamahi ai.
11 And of whom have you been afraid, and fear, That you lie, and have not remembered Me? You have not laid [it] to your heart, Am I not silent, even from of old? And you do not fear Me?
“Pea ko hai kuo ke ilifia mo manavahē ki ai koeʻuhi ke ke loi, kae ʻikai te ke manatu kiate au, pe tokanga loto ki ai? ʻIkai kuo u fakalongo pē ʻo fuoloa, pea naʻe ʻikai te ke manavahē kiate au?
12 I declare your righteousness, and your works, And they do not profit you.
Te u fakahā hoʻo māʻoniʻoni, pea mo hoʻo ngāue; koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te nau ʻaonga kiate koe.
13 When you cry, let your gatherings deliver you, And wind carries all of them away, Vanity takes away, And whoever is trusting in Me inherits the land, And possesses My holy mountain.”
‌ʻOka ke ka tangi, tuku ke fakamoʻui koe ʻe hoʻo kakai tokolahi: ka e ʻāvea ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻe he matangi; ʻe ʻave ʻakinautolu ʻe he vaʻinga: ka ko ia ʻoku falala kiate au te ne maʻu ʻae fonua, pea nofo ʻi hoku moʻunga tapu;”
14 And He has said, “Raise up, raise up, prepare a way, Lift a stumbling-block out of the way of My people.”
Pea ʻe pehē ʻe ia, “Mou laku hake, mou laku hake, teuteu ʻae hala, toʻo ʻae tūkiaʻanga mei he hala ʻo hoku kakai.
15 For thus said the high and exalted One, Inhabiting eternity, and His Name [is] holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, And with the bruised and humble of spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of bruised ones,
He ʻoku pehē ʻe he tokotaha lahi mo māʻolunga ʻaia ʻoku ʻafio ʻi he taʻengata, ko hono huafa ko e Māʻoniʻoni; ʻOku ou nofo ʻi he potu māʻolunga mo māʻoniʻoni, pea ʻiate ia foki ʻoku loto fakatomala mo angavaivai, ke fakamoʻui ʻae loto ʻokinautolu ʻoku fakatomala.
16 For I do not strive for all time, nor am I angry forever, For the spirit is feeble before Me, And the souls I have made.
Koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te u fai maʻuaipē, pea ʻe ʻikai te u houhau maʻuaipē: koeʻuhi ʻe vaivai ʻae laumālie ʻi hoku ʻao, pea mo e ngaahi laumālie kuo u ngaohi.
17 For the iniquity of his dishonest gain, I have been angry, and I strike him, Hiding—and am angry, And he goes on turning back in the way of his heart.
He naʻaku houhau koeʻuhi ko e hia ʻo ʻene manumanu, pea teʻia ia: naʻaku fufū au, pea ne u houhau, pea naʻe ʻalu talangataʻa ia ʻi he hala ʻo hono loto.
18 I have seen his ways, and I heal him, indeed, I lead him, And repay comforts to him and to his mourning ones.
Kuo u vakai ki hono ngaahi hala, pea te u fakamoʻui ia: te u tataki foki ia, pea toe ʻatu ʻae ngaahi fakafiemālie kiate ia mo ʻene kau mamahi.
19 Producing the fruit of the lips, Peace, peace, to the far off, and to the near, And I have healed him,” said YHWH.
‌ʻOku ou fakatupu ʻae fua ʻoe loungutu; Fiemālie, fiemālie kiate ia ʻoku kei mamaʻo, pea kiate ia ʻoku ofi,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; “pea te u fakamoʻui ia.”
20 And the wicked [are] as the driven out sea, For it is not able to rest, And its waters cast out filth and mire.
Ka ʻoku tatau ʻae angakovi mo e tahi hou, ʻoku ʻikai faʻa tokalelei ia, ʻoku laku hake ʻe hono ngaahi peau ʻae pelepela mo e ʻuli.
21 “There is no peace,” said my God, “for the wicked!”
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe hoku ʻOtua, “ʻOku ʻikai ha fiemālie ki he angahala.”
