Isaiah 48

1 “Hear this, O house of Jacob, Who are called by the name of Israel, And from the waters of Judah came out, Who are swearing by the Name of YHWH, And make mention of the God of Israel, Not in truth nor in righteousness.

“Escucha esto, casa de Jacob, tú que te llamas con el nombre de Israel, y han salido de las aguas de Judá. Juras por el nombre de Yahvé, y hacer mención del Dios de Israel, pero no en la verdad, ni en la justicia —

2 For they have been called from the Holy City, And been supported on the God of Israel, YHWH of Hosts [is] His Name.

porque se llaman a sí mismos ciudadanos de la ciudad santa, y confiar en el Dios de Israel; Yahvé de los Ejércitos es su nombre.

3 I declared the former things from that time, And they have gone forth from My mouth, And I proclaim them, Suddenly I have done, and it comes.

He declarado las cosas anteriores desde la antigüedad. Sí, salieron de mi boca y los revelé. Los hice de repente, y sucedieron.

4 From My knowing that you are obstinate, And your neck—a sinew of iron, And your forehead—bronze,

Porque sabía que eras obstinado, y tu cuello es un tendón de hierro, y el bronce de tu frente;

5 And from that time I declare [it] to you, Before it comes I have caused you to hear, Lest you say, My idol has done them, And my carved image, And my molten image commanded them.

por eso os lo he declarado desde antiguo; antes de que ocurriera te lo mostré; para que no digas: “Mi ídolo los ha hecho”. Mi imagen grabada y mi imagen fundida les ha ordenado’.

6 You have heard, see the whole of it, And you, do you not declare? I have caused you to hear new things from this time, And things reserved that you did not know.

Lo habéis oído. Ahora vea todo esto. Y tú, ¿no lo vas a declarar? “Te he mostrado cosas nuevas de este tiempo, incluso cosas ocultas, que no has conocido.

7 Now they have been produced and not from that time, Indeed, before the day, and you have not heard them, Lest you say, Behold, I have known them.

Son creados ahora, y no desde la antigüedad. Antes de hoy, no se oían, para que no digáis: ‘He aquí que los conocía’.

8 Indeed, you have not heard, Indeed, you have not known, Indeed, your ear has not opened from that time, For I have known you deal treacherously, And [are] a transgressor from the belly, One is crying to you.

Sí, no lo has oído. Sí, no lo sabías. Sí, desde antaño no se te abría el oído, ya que sabía que tratabas con mucha alevosía, y fueron llamados transgresores desde el vientre.

9 I defer My anger for My Name’s sake, And [for] My praise I restrain for you, So as not to cut you off.

Por mi nombre, aplazaré mi ira, y para mi alabanza, lo retengo para ti para que no te corte el paso.

10 Behold, I have refined you, and not with silver, I have chosen you in a furnace of affliction.

He aquí que te he refinado, pero no como la plata. Te he elegido en el horno de la aflicción.

11 For My sake, for My own sake, I do [it], For how is it defiled? And I do not give My glory to another.

Por mi propio bien, por mi propio bien, lo haré; pues ¿cómo se profanaría mi nombre? No daré mi gloria a otro.

12 Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called one, I [am] He, I [am] first, and I [am] last;

“Escúchame, oh Jacob, e Israel mi llamado: Yo soy él. Yo soy el primero. También soy el último.

13 Also, My hand has founded earth, And My right hand stretched out the heavens, I am calling to them, they stand together.

Sí, mi mano ha puesto los cimientos de la tierra, y mi mano derecha ha extendido los cielos. cuando los llamo, se levantan juntos.

14 Be gathered, all of you, and hear, Who among them declared these things? YHWH has loved him, He does His pleasure on Babylon, And His arm [is on] the Chaldeans.

“¡Reúnanse todos y escuchen! ¿Quién de ellos ha declarado estas cosas? Aquel a quien Yahvé ama hará lo que le gusta a Babilonia, y su brazo estará contra los caldeos.

15 I have spoken, indeed, I have called him, I have brought him in, And he has made his way prosperous.

Yo, incluso yo, he hablado. Sí, le he llamado. Le he traído y hará que su camino sea próspero.

16 Come near to Me, hear this, I have not spoken in secret from the beginning, From the time of its being, I [am] there, And now Lord YHWH has sent Me, and His Spirit.”

“Acércate a mí y escucha esto: “Desde el principio no he hablado en secreto; desde el momento en que ocurrió, yo estaba allí”. Ahora el Señor Yahvé me ha enviado con su Espíritu.

17 Thus said YHWH, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I [am] your God YHWH, teaching you to profit, Causing you to tread in the way you go.

Yahvé, tu Redentor, el Santo de Israel, dice: “Yo soy Yahvé, tu Dios, que te enseña a sacar provecho, que te guía por el camino que debes seguir.

18 O that you had attended to My commands, Then your peace is as a river, And your righteousness as billows of the sea,

¡Oh, si hubieras escuchado mis mandamientos! Entonces tu paz habría sido como un río y tu justicia como las olas del mar.

19 And your seed is as sand, And the offspring of your bowels as gravel, His name would not be cut off nor destroyed before Me.”

Tu descendencia también habría sido como la arena y los descendientes de tu cuerpo como sus granos. Su nombre no será cortado ni destruido ante mí”.

20 Go out from Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, Declare with a voice of singing, Cause this to be heard, Bring it forth to the end of the earth, Say, “YHWH has redeemed His servant Jacob.”

¡Salgan de Babilonia! ¡Huye de los caldeos! Con una voz de canto anuncie esto, cuéntalo hasta el fin de la tierra; decir: “¡Yahvé ha redimido a su siervo Jacob!”

21 And they have not thirsted in wastelands, He has caused them to go on, He has caused waters from a rock to flow to them, Indeed, he cleaves a rock, and waters flow.

No tuvieron sed cuando los condujo por los desiertos. Hizo que las aguas fluyeran de la roca para ellos. También partió la roca y las aguas brotaron.

22 “There is no peace,” said YHWH, “for the wicked!”

“No hay paz”, dice Yahvé, “para los malvados”.
