Isaiah 41
1 Keep silent toward Me, O islands, And the peoples pass on [to] power, They come near, then they speak, “Together we draw near to judgment.”
“Guardad silencio ante mí, islas, y que los pueblos renueven sus fuerzas. Que se acerquen, entonces que hablen. Reunámonos para el juicio.
2 Who stirred up a righteous one from the east? He calls him to His foot, He gives nations before him, And He causes him to rule kings, He gives [them] as dust [to] his sword, As driven stubble [to] his bow.
¿Quién ha levantado a uno del este? ¿Quién lo llamó a sus pies con justicia? Le entrega las naciones y lo hace gobernar sobre los reyes. Los da como el polvo a su espada, como el rastrojo conducido a su arco.
3 He pursues them, he passes over in safety A path he does not enter with his feet.
Los persigue y pasa con seguridad, incluso por un camino que no había recorrido con sus pies.
4 Who has worked and done, Calling the generations from the first? I, YHWH, the first, and with the last I [am] He.
Que ha trabajado y lo ha hecho, llamando a las generaciones desde el principio? Yo, Yahvé, el primero, y con el último, yo soy”.
5 Islands have seen and fear, The ends of the earth tremble, They have drawn near, indeed, they come.
Las islas han visto y temen. Los confines de la tierra tiemblan. Se acercan y vienen.
6 They each help his neighbor, And to his brother he says, “Be strong.”
Cada uno ayuda a su prójimo. Dicen a sus hermanos: “¡Sed fuertes!”
7 And an artisan strengthens the refiner, A smoother [with] a hammer, Him who is beating [on] an anvil, saying, “For joining it [is] good,” And he strengthens it with nails, it is not moved!
Así que el carpintero anima al orfebre. El que alisa con el martillo anima al que golpea el yunque, diciendo de la soldadura: “Es buena;” y la sujeta con clavos, para que no se tambalee.
8 And you, O Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, Seed of Abraham, My lover,
“Pero tú, Israel, mi siervo, Jacob, a quien he elegido, la descendencia de Abraham mi amigo,
9 Whom I have taken hold of, from the ends of the earth, And from its near places I have called you, And I say to you, You [are] My servant, I have chosen you, and not rejected you.
a vosotros, a los que he cogido de los confines de la tierra, y llamado desde sus rincones, y te dijo: ‘Tú eres mi siervo. Te he elegido y no te he desechado’.
10 Do not be afraid, for I [am] with you, do not look around, for I [am] your God, I have strengthened you, Indeed, I have helped you, indeed, I upheld you, With the right hand of My righteousness.
No tengas miedo, porque yo estoy contigo. No te desanimes, porque yo soy tu Dios. Yo te fortaleceré. Sí, te ayudaré. Sí, te sostendré con la diestra de mi justicia.
11 Behold, all those displeased with you, They are ashamed and blush, They are as nothing, indeed, The men who strive with you perish.
He aquí que todos los que se indignan contra ti se verán defraudados y confundidos. Los que luchan contigo serán como nada, y perecerán.
12 You seek them, and do not find them, The men who debate with you, They are as nothing, indeed, as nothing, The men who war with you.
Los buscarás y no los encontrarás, incluso a los que se enfrentan a ti. Los que te hacen la guerra serán como nada, como algo inexistente.
13 For I, your God YHWH, Am strengthening your right hand, He who is saying to you, “Do not fear, I have helped you.”
Porque yo, Yahvé, tu Dios, te tomaré de la mano derecha, diciéndote: “No tengas miedo. Yo te ayudaré’.
14 Do not fear, O worm Jacob, You men of Israel, I helped you, a declaration of YHWH, Even your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
No tengas miedo, gusano Jacob, y vosotros, hombres de Israel. Yo te ayudaré”, dice Yahvé. “Tu Redentor es el Santo de Israel.
15 Behold, I have set you for a new sharp threshing instrument, Possessing teeth, you thresh mountains, And beat small, and make hills as chaff.
He aquí que te he convertido en un nuevo instrumento de trilla afilado y con dientes. Trillarás las montañas, y los golpeó en pequeño, y hará que las colinas sean como la paja.
16 You winnow them, and a wind lifts them up, And a whirlwind scatters them, And you rejoice in YHWH, [And] boast yourself in the Holy One of Israel.
Tú los aventarás, y el viento se los llevará, y el torbellino los dispersará. Te alegrarás en Yahvé. Te glorificarás en el Santo de Israel.
17 The poor and the needy are seeking water, And there is none, Their tongue has failed with thirst, I, YHWH, answer them, The God of Israel—I do not forsake them.
El pobre y el necesitado buscan agua, y no la hay. Su lengua falla por la sed. Yo, Yahvé, les responderé. Yo, el Dios de Israel, no los abandonaré.
18 I open rivers on high places, And fountains in midst of valleys, I make a wilderness become a pond of water, And a dry land becomes springs of water.
Abriré ríos en las alturas desnudas, y manantiales en medio de los valles. Haré del desierto un estanque de agua, y la tierra seca manantiales de agua.
19 I give in a wilderness the cedar, Shittah, and myrtle, and oil-tree, I set in a desert the fir-pine and box-wood together.
Pondré árboles de cedro, acacia, mirto y aceite en el desierto. Pondré juntos cipreses, pinos y bojes en el desierto;
20 So that they see, and know, And regard, and act wisely together, For the hand of YHWH has done this, And the Holy One of Israel has created it.
para que vean, conozcan, consideren y comprendan juntos, que la mano de Yahvé ha hecho esto, y el Santo de Israel lo ha creado.
21 Bring your cause near, says YHWH, Bring your mighty ones near, says the King of Jacob.
Produce tu causa”, dice Yahvé. “¡Saca tus fuertes razones!”, dice el Rey de Jacob.
22 They bring [them] near, and declare to us that which happens, Declare the first things—what they [are], And we set our heart, and know their latter end, Or cause us to hear the coming things.
“¡Que nos anuncien y declaren lo que va a pasar! Declarar las cosas anteriores, lo que son, para que los consideremos y conozcamos su fin último; o mostrarnos lo que está por venir.
23 Declare the things that are coming hereafter, And we know that you [are] gods, Indeed, you may do good or do evil, And we look around and see [it] together.
Anuncia las cosas que han de venir después, para que sepamos que sois dioses. Sí, haz el bien o haz el mal, para que podamos estar consternados, y verlo juntos.
24 Behold, you [are] of nothing, and your work of nothing, An abomination—it fixes on you.
Mira, no eres nada, y tu trabajo no es nada. El que te elige es una abominación.
25 I have stirred up [one] from the north, And he comes, From the rising of the sun he calls in My Name, And he comes in [on] prefects as [on] clay, And as a potter treads down mire.
“He levantado a uno del norte, y ha venido, desde la salida del sol, el que invoca mi nombre, y vendrá sobre los gobernantes como sobre el mortero, y como el alfarero pisa la arcilla.
26 Who has declared from the first, and we know? And formerly, and we say, “Righteous?” Indeed, there is none declaring, Indeed, there is none proclaiming, Indeed, there is none hearing your sayings.
¿Quién lo ha declarado desde el principio para que lo sepamos? y antes, para que podamos decir: “Tiene razón”. Seguramente, no hay nadie que declare. Seguramente, no hay nadie que lo demuestre. Seguramente, no hay nadie que escuche tus palabras.
27 First to Zion, Behold, behold them, And to Jerusalem I give one proclaiming tidings,
Yo soy el primero en decir a Sión: “Mira, míralos”. y daré a uno que traiga buenas noticias a Jerusalén.
28 And I see that there is no man, Indeed, of these that there is no counselor, And I ask them, and they return word:
Cuando miro, no hay ningún hombre, incluso entre ellos no hay ningún consejero que, cuando pregunto, pueda responder una palabra.
29 “Behold, all of them [are] vanity, Their works [are] nothing, Their molten images [are] wind and emptiness!”
He aquí que todas sus obras son vanidad y nada. Sus imágenes fundidas son viento y confusión.
