Isaiah 40
1 “Comfort, comfort My people,” says your God.
সান্ত্বনা দাও, আমার প্রজাদের সান্ত্বনা দাও তোমাদের ঈশ্বর বলছেন।
2 Speak to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her, That her warfare has been completed, That her punishment has been accepted, That she has received from the hand of YHWH Double for all her sins.
কোমলভাবে জেরুশালেমের সঙ্গে কথা বলো ও তার কাছে ঘোষণা করো যে, তার কঠোর পরিশ্রমের সময় সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে, আর তার পাপের মূল্য চোকানো হয়েছে, কারণ সে সদাপ্রভুর হাত থেকে তার সমস্ত পাপের দ্বিগুণ শাস্তি পেয়েছে।
3 A voice is crying in a wilderness: “Prepare the way of YHWH, Make straight in a desert a highway for our God.
একজনের কণ্ঠস্বর ঘোষণা করছে: তোমরা মরুভূমিতে সদাপ্রভুর জন্য পথ প্রস্তুত করো; তোমরা মরুপ্রান্তরে আমাদের ঈশ্বরের জন্য রাজপথগুলি সরল করো।
4 Every valley is raised up, And every mountain and hill become low, And the crooked place has become a plain, And the entangled places a valley.
প্রত্যেক উপত্যকাকে উপরে তোলা হবে, প্রত্যেক পর্বত ও উপপর্বতকে নিচু করা হবে; এবড়োখেবড়ো জমিকে সমান করা হবে, অমসৃণ স্থানগুলি সমতল হবে।
5 And the glory of YHWH has been revealed, And all flesh have seen [it] together, For the mouth of YHWH has spoken.”
তখন সদাপ্রভুর মহিমা প্রকাশিত হবে, সমস্ত মানবকুল একসঙ্গে তা প্রত্যক্ষ করবে। কারণ সদাপ্রভুর মুখ একথা বলেছেন।
6 A voice is saying, “Call,” And he said, “What do I call?” All flesh [is] grass, and all its goodness [Is] as a flower of the field:
একজনের কণ্ঠস্বর বলছে, “ঘোষণা করো।” আমি বললাম, “আমি কী ঘোষণা করব?” “সব মানুষই ঘাসের মতো আর তাদের সমস্ত বিশ্বস্ততা মাঠের ফুলের মতো।
7 Grass has withered, the flower faded, For the Spirit of YHWH blew on it, Surely the people [is] grass;
ঘাস শুকিয়ে যায় আর ফুল ঝরে পড়ে, কারণ সদাপ্রভুর নিশ্বাস তাদের উপরে বয়ে যায়। সত্যিই সব মানুষ ঘাসের মতো।
8 Grass has withered, the flower faded, But a word of our God rises forever.
ঘাস শুকিয়ে যায় ও ফুলগুলি ঝরে পড়ে, কিন্তু আমাদের ঈশ্বরের বাক্য থাকে চিরকাল।”
9 Get up on a high mountain, O Zion, Proclaiming tidings, Lift up your voice with power, O Jerusalem, proclaiming tidings, Lift up, do not fear, say to cities of Judah, “Behold, your God.”
যারা সিয়োনের কাছে সুসংবাদ বয়ে আনো, তোমরা উঁচু পাহাড়ে উঠে যাও। যারা জেরুশালেমের কাছে সুসংবাদ বয়ে আনো, তোমরা জোর গলায় চিৎকার করো, কণ্ঠস্বর উচ্চে তোলো, ভয় পেয়ো না; যিহূদার নগরগুলিকে বলো, “তোমাদের ঈশ্বর এখানে!”
10 Behold, Lord YHWH comes with strength, And His arm is ruling for Him, Behold, His hire [is] with Him, and His wage before Him.
দেখো, সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু পরাক্রমের সঙ্গে আসছেন, তাঁর বাহু তাঁর হয়ে শাসন করে। দেখো, তাঁর দেয় পুরস্কার তাঁর কাছে আছে, তাঁর দেয় প্রতিদান তাঁর সঙ্গেই থাকে।
11 He feeds His flock as a shepherd, He gathers lambs with His arm, And He carries [them] in His bosom: He leads suckling ones.
মেষপালকের মতোই তিনি তাঁর পালকে চরান: মেষশাবকদের তিনি তাঁর কোলে একত্র করেন ও তাঁর বুকের কাছে তিনি তাদের বহন করেন; যাদের ছোটো বাচ্চা আছে, তাদের তিনি ধীরে ধীরে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যান।
12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, And has meted out the heavens by a span, And comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, And has weighed the mountains in scales, And the hills in a balance?
কে তার করতলে সমুদ্রের জলরাশি পরিমাপ করেছে, কিংবা তার বিঘত দিয়ে আকাশমণ্ডল নিরূপণ করেছে? কে বালতিতে ধারণ করেছে পৃথিবীর সব ধুলো, কিংবা দাঁড়িপাল্লায় ওজন করেছে পর্বতসকল এবং তরাজুতে যত পাহাড়?
13 Who has meted out the Spirit of YHWH, And [being] His counselor, teaches Him?
সদাপ্রভুর মন কে বুঝতে পেরেছে, কিংবা মন্ত্রণাদাতা হয়ে তাঁকে পরামর্শ দিয়েছে?
14 With whom [did] He consult, That he causes Him to understand? And teaches Him in the path of judgment, And teaches Him knowledge? And causes Him to know the way of understanding?
উপদেশ গ্রহণের জন্য তিনি কার সঙ্গে পরামর্শ করেছেন এবং কে তাঁকে সঠিক পথের দিশা দিয়েছে? কে তাঁকে জ্ঞান শিক্ষা দিয়েছে কিংবা দেখিয়েছে বিচারবুদ্ধির পথ?
15 Behold, nations [are] as a drop from a bucket, And have been reckoned as small dust of the balance, Behold, He takes up islands as a small thing.
জাতিগুলি নিশ্চয়ই কলসের এক ফোঁটা জলের মতো; তাদের মনে করা হয় দাঁড়িপাল্লায় লাগা ধূলিকণার মতোই; তিনি সূক্ষ্ম ধূলিকণার মতোই ওজন করেন সব দ্বীপ।
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, Nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt-offering.
বেদির আগুনের জন্য লেবাননের সব কাঠ, কিংবা হোমবলির জন্য তার পশুসকল পর্যাপ্ত নয়।
17 All the nations [are] as nothing before Him, Less than nothing and emptiness, They have been reckoned to Him.
তাঁর সামনে সব জাতি কোনো কিছুর মধ্যেই গণ্য নয়; তিনি তাদের নিকৃষ্ট এবং সবকিছু থেকে অসার মনে করেন।
18 And to whom do you liken God, And what likeness do you compare to Him?
তাহলে, তোমরা কার সঙ্গে ঈশ্বরের তুলনা করবে? কোন মূর্তির সঙ্গে তাঁর তুলনা দেবে?
19 An artisan has poured out the carved image, And a refiner spreads it over with gold, And he is refining chains of silver.
কোনো মূর্তির তৈরির সময়, শিল্পকর তা ছাঁচে ঢালে, স্বর্ণকার তার উপরে সোনার প্রলেপ দেয় এবং রুপোর শৃঙ্খল দিয়ে তাকে সুশোভিত করে।
20 He who is poor [by] raised-offerings, Chooses a tree [that is] not rotten, He seeks a skillful artisan for it, To establish a carved image—not moved.
যে মানুষ ভীষণ দরিদ্র ও এরকম উপহার দিতে পারে না, সে এমন কাঠ বেছে নেয়, যা সহজে পচে যায় না; সে, টলবে না এমন এক প্রতিমার জন্য, এক কুশলী শিল্পকারের অন্বেষণ করে।
21 Do you not know—do you not hear? Has it not been declared from the first to you? Have you not understood [From] the foundations of the earth?
তোমরা কি একথা জানো না? তোমরা কি তা কখনও শোনোনি? প্রথম থেকেই কি একথা তোমাদের বলা হয়নি? পৃথিবীর গোড়াপত্তন থেকে তোমরা কি তা বুঝতে পারোনি?
22 He who is sitting on the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants [are] as grasshoppers, He who is stretching out the heavens as a thin thing, And spreads them as a tent to dwell in.
তিনি পৃথিবীর সীমাচক্রের উপরে উপবেশন করেন, এর অধিবাসীরা সকলে ফড়িংয়ের মতো। তিনি চন্দ্রাতপের মতো আকাশমণ্ডলকে প্রসারিত করেন, বসবাসের জন্য সেগুলিকে তাঁবুর মতো খাটিয়ে দেন।
23 He who is making princes become nothing, Has made judges of earth formless;
তিনি রাজন্যবর্গকে বিলুপ্ত করেন এবং জগতের শাসকদের শূন্য করেন।
24 Indeed, they have not been planted, Indeed, they have not been sown, Indeed, their stock is not taking root in the earth, And He has also blown on them, and they wither, And a whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
তাদের রোপণ করা মাত্র এবং যেই তাদের বপন করা হয়, যে মুহূর্তে তারা মাটিতে মূল বিস্তার করে, তিনি তাদের উপরে ফুঁ দেন ও তারা শুকিয়ে যায়, ঘূর্ণিঝড় তুষের মতোই তাদের উড়িয়ে নিয়ে যায়।
25 And to whom do you liken Me, And [to whom] I equal? Says the Holy One.
“তোমরা কার সঙ্গে আমার তুলনা করবে? কিংবা, আমার সমতুল্য কে?” বলেন সেই পবিত্রতম জন।
26 Lift up your eyes on high, And see—who has created these? He who is bringing out their host by number, He calls to all of them by name, By the abundance of His strength And mighty power, Not one is lacking.
তোমরা চোখ তুলে আকাশমণ্ডলের দিকে তাকাও: এগুলি কে সৃষ্টি করেছে? তিনি তারকারাজিকে এক এক করে বের করে আনেন এবং তাদের প্রত্যেকটির নাম ধরে ডাকেন। তাঁর মহাপরাক্রম ও প্রবল শক্তির কারণে তাদের একটিও হারিয়ে যায় না।
27 Why say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way has been hid from YHWH, And from my God my judgment passes over?”
ওহে যাকোব, তুমি কেন অভিযোগ করো? ওহে ইস্রায়েল, তুমি কেন বলো, “আমার পথ সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে গুপ্ত; আমার অধিকার আমার ঈশ্বরের কাছে অবজ্ঞার বিষয়?”
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The God of the age—YHWH, Preparer of the ends of the earth, Is not wearied nor fatigued, There is no searching of His understanding.
তুমি কি জানো না? তুমি কি কখনও শোনোনি? সদাপ্রভুই সনাতন ঈশ্বর, তিনি পৃথিবীর প্রান্তসীমার সৃষ্টিকর্তা। তিনি শ্রান্ত হবেন না, ক্লান্ত হবেন না, তাঁর বুদ্ধির গভীরতা কেউ পরিমাপ করতে পারে না।
29 He is giving power to the weary, And to those not strong He increases might.
তিনি ক্লান্ত ব্যক্তিকে শক্তি দেন, দুর্বলের শক্তিবৃদ্ধি করেন।
30 Even youths are wearied and fatigued, And young men utterly stumble,
এমনকি, যুবকেরাও শ্রান্ত ও ক্লান্ত হয়, তরুণেরা হোঁচট খেয়ে পতিত হয়;
31 But those expecting YHWH pass [to] power, They raise up the pinion as eagles, They run and are not fatigued, They go on and do not faint!
কিন্তু যারা সদাপ্রভুতে প্রত্যাশা রাখে, তারা তাদের শক্তি নবায়িত করবে। তারা ঈগল পাখির মতোই ডানা মেলবে, তারা দৌড়াবে, কিন্তু ক্লান্ত হবে না, তারা চলাফেরা করবে, কিন্তু মূর্ছিত হবে না।
