Isaiah 28
1 Woe [to] the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim. And the fading flower of the beauty of his glory, That [is] on the head of the fat valley of the broken down of wine.
GUAI alla corona della superbia degli ubbriachi di Efraim; la gloria della cui magnificenza [è] un fiore che si appassa; i quali [abitano] nel sommo delle valli grasse, e sono storditi di vino!
2 Behold, a mighty and strong one [is] to the Lord, As a storm of hail—a destructive shower, As an inundation of mighty waters overflowing, He cast down to the earth with the hand.
Ecco, il Signore ha appo sè un [uomo] forte e potente, [che sarà] come un nembo di gragnuola, [come] un turbo fracassante; egli atterrerà [ogni cosa] con la mano, a guisa d'una piena di grandi acque traboccanti.
3 The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim is trodden down by feet,
La corona della superbia, gli ubbriachi di Efraim, saranno calpestati co' piedi;
4 And the fading flower of the beauty of his glory That [is] on the head of the fat valley, Has been as its first-fruit before summer, That its beholder sees; He swallows it while it [is] yet in his hand.
e la gloria della magnificenza di colui che [abita] nel sommo delle valli grasse, sarà [come] un fiore che si appassa; come un frutto primaticcio avanti la state, il qual tosto che alcuno ha veduto, lo trangugia, come prima l'ha in mano.
5 In that day YHWH of Hosts is For a crown of beauty, and for a circlet of glory, To the remnant of His people.
In quel giorno il Signor degli eserciti sarà per corona di gloria, e per benda di magnificenza, al rimanente del suo popolo;
6 And for a spirit of judgment To him who is sitting in the judgment, And for might [to] those turning back the battle to the gate.
e [sarà] per ispirito di giudicio a colui che siede sopra il [seggio del] giudicio; e per forza a quelli che fanno nella battaglia voltar le spalle [a' nemici] fino alla porta.
7 And even these have erred through wine, And have wandered through strong drink, Priest and prophet erred through strong drink, They have been swallowed up of the wine, They wandered because of the strong drink, They have erred in seeing, They have stumbled judicially.
Or anche costoro si sono invaghiti del vino, e son traviati nella cervogia; il sacerdote e il profeta si sono invaghiti della cervogia, sono stati perduti per lo vino, [e] traviati per la cervogia; hanno errato nella visione, si sono intoppati nel giudicio.
8 For all tables have been full of vomit, Filth—without place!
Perciocchè tutte le tavole son piene di vomito [e] di lordure; non [vi è più] luogo [netto].
9 By whom does He teach knowledge? And by whom does He cause to understand the report? The weaned from milk, the removed from breasts,
A cui s'insegnerebbe la scienza, ed a cui si farebbe intender la dottrina? [costoro son come] bambini spoppati, svezzati dalle mammelle.
10 For rule on rule, rule on rule, Line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there,
Perciocchè [bisogna dar loro] insegnamento dopo insegnamento, insegnamento dopo insegnamento; linea dopo linea, linea dopo linea; un poco qui, un poco là.
11 For by scorned lip, and by another tongue, Does He speak to this people.
Conciossiachè [Iddio] parli a questo popolo con labbra balbettanti, e in lingua straniera.
12 To whom He has said, “This [is] the rest, give rest to the weary, And this—the refreshing”: And they have not been willing to hear,
Perciocchè egli avea lor detto: Questo [è] il riposo; date riposo allo stanco; questa [è] la quiete; ma essi non hanno voluto ascoltare.
13 And to whom a word of YHWH has been, Rule on rule, rule on rule, Line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there, So that they go and have stumbled backward, And been broken, and snared, and captured.
La parola del Signore adunque sarà loro [a guisa] d'insegnamento dopo insegnamento, d'insegnamento dopo insegnamento; di linea dopo linea, di linea dopo linea; un poco qui, un poco là; acciocchè vadano, e cadano a ritroso, e sieno fiaccati, e sieno allacciati, e presi.
14 Therefore, hear a word of YHWH, you men of scorning, Ruling this people that [is] in Jerusalem.
Perciò, ascoltate la parola del Signore, uomini schernitori, che signoreggiate questo popolo, che [è] in Gerusalemme.
15 Because you have said: “We have made a covenant with death, And we have made a provision with Sheol, An overflowing scourge, when it passes over, Does not meet us, Though we have made a lie our refuge, And have been hidden in falsehood.” (Sheol h7585)
Perciocchè voi avete detto: Noi abbiam fatto patto con la morte, ed abbiam fatta lega col sepolcro; quando il flagello inondante passerà, egli non giungerà infino a noi; conciossiachè noi abbiam posta la menzogna per nostro ricetto, e ci siam nascosti nella falsità; (Sheol h7585)
16 Therefore, thus said Lord YHWH: “Behold, I am laying a foundation in Zion, A stone—a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a settled foundation, He who is believing does not make haste.
perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Ecco, io [son quel] che ho posta in Sion una pietra, una pietra a prova, [pietra di] cantone preziosa, un fondamento [ben] fondato; chi crederà non si smarrirà.
17 And I have put judgment for a line, And righteousness for a plummet, And hail sweeps away the refuge of lies, And waters overflow the secret hiding place.
E metterò il giudicio al regolo, e la giustizia al livello; e la gragnuola spazzerà via il ricetto di menzogna, e le acque ne inonderanno il nascondimento.
18 And your covenant with death has been annulled, And your provision with Sheol does not stand, An overflowing scourge, when it passes over, Then you have been to it for a treading-place. (Sheol h7585)
E il vostro patto con la morte sarà annullato, e la vostra lega col sepolcro non sarà ferma; quando il flagello inondante passerà, voi ne sarete calpestati. (Sheol h7585)
19 From the fullness of its passing over it takes you, For it passes over morning by morning, By day and by night, And it has been only a trembling to consider the report.
Da che passerà, egli vi porterà via; perciocchè passerà mattina dopo mattina, di giorno e di notte; e il sentirne il grido non produrrà altro che commovimento.
20 For the bed has been shorter Than to stretch one’s self out in, And the covering has been narrower Than to wrap one’s self up in.
Perciocchè il letto sarà troppo corto, da potervisi distender dentro; e la coverta troppo stretta, per avvilupparsene.
21 For as YHWH rises [at] Mount Perazim, As He is troubled [at] the valley in Gibeon, To do His work—strange [is] His work, And to do His deed—strange [is] His deed.”
Perciocchè il Signore si leverà, come nel monte di Perasim, [e] si commoverà come nella valle di Gabaon, per far la sua opera, la sua opera strana; e per eseguire la sua operazione, la sua operazione straordinaria.
22 And now, do not show yourselves scorners, Lest your bands are strong, For a consumption, that is determined, I have heard, by the Lord, YHWH of Hosts, [Is] for all the land.
Ora dunque, non vi fate beffe; che talora i vostri legami non sieno rinforzati; perciocchè io ho udita da parte del Signore Iddio degli eserciti una sentenza finale, ed una determinazione contro a tutto il paese.
23 Give ear, and hear my voice, Attend, and hear my saying:
Porgete le orecchie, ed ascoltate la mia voce; state attenti, ed ascoltate il mio ragionamento.
24 Does the plowman plow the whole day to sow? He opens and harrows his ground!
L'aratore ara egli ogni giorno per seminare? non rompe, e non erpica egli la sua terra?
25 Has he not, if he has made its face level, Then scattered fitches, and sprinkles cumin, And has placed the principal wheat, And the appointed barley, And the rye [in] its own border?
Quando ne ha appianato il disopra, non [vi] sparge egli la veccia, e non vi semina egli il comino, e non vi pone egli il frumento a certa misura, e l'orzo a certi segni, e la spelta nel suo proprio spazio?
26 And his God instructs him for judgment, He directs him.
E l'Iddio suo l'ammaestra, e gl'insegna l'ordine che deve guardare.
27 For fitches are not threshed with a sharp-pointed thing, And the wheel of a cart turned around on cumin, For fitches are beaten out with a staff, And cumin with a rod.
Conciossiachè non si trebbi la veccia con la trebbia, e non si ravvolga la ruota del carro sopra il comino; anzi si scuote la veccia con la bacchetta, e il comino con la mazza.
28 Bread-[grain] is beaten small, For he does not severely thresh it forever, Nor has a wheel of his cart crushed [it], Nor do his hooves beat it small.
[Ma] il frumento è trebbiato; perciocchè [altrimenti] egli non lo batterebbe giammai abbastanza. Così lo trebbia con le ruote del suo carro, ma non lo frange già coi denti del suo rastrello.
29 Even this from YHWH of Hosts has gone out, He has made counsel wonderful, He has made wisdom great!
Questo altresì procede dal Signor degli eserciti, [il quale] è maraviglioso in consiglio, e grande in sapienza.
