< Isaiah 24 >
1 Behold, YHWH is emptying the earth, And is making it desolate, And has overturned [it on] its face, And has scattered its inhabitants.
Vakai, ʻoku fakamaha ʻe Sihova ʻae fonua, mo fakalala ia, mo ne fulihi ia, pea fakamovetevete ʻa hono kakai.
2 And it has been—as a people so a priest, As the servant so his master, As the maidservant so her mistress, As the buyer so the seller, As the lender so the borrower, As the usurer so he who is lifting [it] on himself.
Pea ʻe pehē pe, hangē ko ia ʻoku ʻi he kakai, ʻe pehē pe ki he taulaʻeiki; hangē ko e tamaioʻeiki, ʻe pehē pe ki heʻene ʻeiki; hangē ko e kaunanga, ʻe pehē pe ki heʻene ʻeiki fefine; hangē ko e tangata fakatau mai, ʻe pehē pe ki he tangata fakatau atu; hangē ko ia ʻoku tali ʻae nono, ʻe pehē pe ki he tangata kole; hangē ko ia ʻoku ʻi he tangata maʻu totongi nō paʻanga, ʻe pehē ʻi he tangata ʻoku ʻatu ʻae totongi nō paʻanga kiate ia.
3 The earth is utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled, For YHWH has spoken this word:
ʻE fakamaha ʻaupito ʻae fonua, pea fakaʻauha ia: he kuo folofolaʻaki ʻe Sihova ʻae folofola ni.
4 The earth has mourned, faded, The world has languished, faded, They have languished—the high place of the people of the earth.
ʻOku mamahi ʻae fonua pea mae ia, ʻoku vaivai ʻa māmani pea ʻoku mae, ʻoku vaivai ʻae kakai fieʻeiki ʻoe fonua.
5 And the earth has been defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed laws, They have changed a statute, They have made void a perpetual covenant.
Kuo ʻuliʻi foki ʻae fonua ʻi hono kakai; koeʻuhi kuo nau maumauʻi ʻae ngaahi fono, ʻo liliu ʻae tuʻutuʻuni, ʻo maumauʻi ʻae fuakava taʻengata.
6 Therefore a curse has consumed the earth, And the inhabitants in it become desolate, Therefore inhabitants of the earth have been consumed, And few men have been left.
Ko ia kuo ʻauha ai ʻae fonua ʻi he malaʻia, pea ko kinautolu ʻoku nofo ai ʻoku nau mamahi: ko ia kuo tutu ai ʻae kakai ʻo māmani, pea ʻoku toe ʻae tangata tokosiʻi pe.
7 The new wine has mourned, the vine languished, All the joyful of heart have sighed.
ʻOku mamahi ʻae uaine foʻou, ʻoku vaivai ʻae vaine, ʻoku toʻe ʻakinautolu kotoa pē naʻe loto fiefia.
8 The joy of tambourines has ceased, The noise of exulting ones has ceased, The joy of a harp has ceased.
Kuo ngata ʻae fakafiefia ʻoe ngaahi lali, kuo ʻosi ʻae longoaʻa ʻokinautolu naʻe fiefia, kuo ngata ʻae fakafiefia ʻoe haʻape.
9 They do not drink wine with a song, Strong drink is bitter to those drinking it.
ʻE ʻikai te nau kei inu uaine mo e hiva; ʻe kona ʻae kava mālohi kiate kinautolu ʻoku inu ia.
10 It was broken down—a city of emptiness, Every house has been shut from [its] entrance.
Kuo maumauʻi hifo ʻae kolo ʻoe maveuveu: kuo tāpuni ʻae ngaahi fale kotoa pē, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa hū ki ai ha tangata.
11 In out-places [is] a cry over the wine, All joy has been darkened, The joy of the land has been removed.
ʻOku ai ʻae tangi ki he uaine ʻi he ngaahi hala; kuo fakapoʻuli ʻae fiefia kotoa pē, kuo mole ʻae fiefia ʻi he fonua.
12 Desolation [is] left in the city, And the gate is struck [with] ruin.
Kuo tuku ʻi he kolo ʻae fakaʻauha, pea kuo taaʻi ke lailai hono ngaahi matapā.
13 When thus it is in the heart of the land, In the midst of the peoples, As the surrounding of the olive, As gleanings when harvest has been finished,
ʻOku hoko ʻo pehē ki he kakai ʻoe loto fonua, ʻe ai ʻo hangē ko e lulululu ʻoe ʻakau ko e ʻolive, pea hangē ko e toenga kālepi ʻoka hili hono tānaki mei he vaine.
14 They lift up their voice, They sing of the excellence of YHWH, They have cried aloud from the sea.
Te nau hiki hake honau leʻo, te nau hiva koeʻuhi ko e māʻolunga ʻa Sihova, te nau kalanga mei he tahi.
15 Therefore honor YHWH in prosperity, In islands of the sea, the Name of YHWH, God of Israel.
Ko ia ke mou fakaongoongoleleiʻi ʻa Sihova ʻi he ngaahi afi, ʻio, ʻae huafa ʻo Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli ʻi he ngaahi ʻotu motu ʻoe tahi.
16 From the skirt of the earth we heard songs, The desire of the righteous. And I say, “Leanness [is] to me, Leanness [is] to me, woe [is] to me.” Treacherous dealers dealt treacherously, Indeed, treachery, treacherous dealers dealt treacherously.
Kuo mau fanongo ki he ngaahi hiva mei he ngataʻanga ʻo māmani, ʻio, ko e fakaongolelei ki he māʻoniʻoni. Ka naʻaku pehē, ʻA ʻeku tutue, ʻa ʻeku tutue; ʻe malaʻia au! Kuo fai kākā ʻae kau fai taʻetotonu; ʻio, kuo fai kākā lahi ʻaupito ʻae kakai fai taʻetotonu.
17 Fear, and a snare, and a trap, [Are] on you, O inhabitant of the earth.
ʻOku ʻiate koe ʻae ilifia, mo e luo, pea mo e tauhele, ʻa koe ʻoku nofo ʻi māmani.
18 And it has come to pass, He who is fleeing from the noise of the fear falls into the snare, And he who is coming up from the midst of the snare, Is captured by the trap, For windows have been opened on high, And foundations of the earth are shaken.
Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ko ia ʻoku hola mei he longoaʻa ʻoe ilifia ʻe tō ki he luo; pea ko ia ʻoku ʻalu hake mei he loto luo ʻe moʻua ia ʻi he tauhele: he kuo toʻo ʻae ngaahi matapā ʻi ʻolunga, pea ʻoku ngalulu ʻae ngaahi tuʻunga ʻo māmani.
19 The earth has been utterly broken down, The earth has been utterly broken, The earth has been utterly moved.
Kuo maumau hifo ʻaupito ʻa māmani, kuo ʻauha ʻaupito ʻae fonua, kuo ngalulu lahi ʻaupito ʻa māmani.
20 The earth staggers greatly as a drunkard, And it has been moved as a lodge, And its transgression has been heavy on it, And it has fallen, and does not add to rise.
21 And it has come to pass in that day, YHWH lays a charge on the host of the high place in the high place, And on the kings of the earth on the earth.
Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, ʻe tautea ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻae kakai ʻeiki ʻoku ʻi ʻolunga, pea ʻi he māmani ʻae ngaahi tuʻi ʻo māmani.
22 And they have been gathered—A gathering of bound ones in a pit, And they have been shut up in a prison, And after a multitude of days are inspected.
Pea ʻe tānaki fakataha ʻakinautolu, ʻo hangē ʻoku tānaki ʻae kau pōpula ki he luo, pea ʻe tāpuni ʻi he fale fakapōpula, pea hili ʻae ngaahi ʻaho lahi ʻe ʻaahiʻi ʻakinautolu.
23 And the moon has been confounded, And the sun has been ashamed, For YHWH of Hosts has reigned In Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, And before His elderly—glory!
Pea ʻe toki puputuʻu ʻae māhina, pea ʻe mā mo e laʻā, koeʻuhi ʻe pule ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻi hono māfimafi ʻi he moʻunga ko Saione, pea ʻi Selūsalema, pea ʻe ongoongolelei ia ʻi he ʻao ʻoe mātuʻa ʻo hono kakai.
