< Isaiah 13 >

1 The burden of Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz has seen:
KA wanana no Babulona, ka mea a Isaia, ke keiki a Amosa i ike ai.
2 “Lift up an ensign on a high mountain, Raise the voice to them, wave the hand, And they go into the openings of nobles.
E kau i ka hae ma ka mauna olohelohe, E hookiekie i ka leo io lakou la, e peahi ka lima, I komo lakou maloko o na pukapa o na'lii.
3 I have given charge to My sanctified ones, Also I have called My mighty ones for My anger, Those rejoicing at My excellence.”
Ua kauoha aku au i ko'u poe i hookaawaleia no ke kaua, A no ka ukiuki, ua hea aku au i ko'u poe koa, Kuu poe olioli me ka hookiekie.
4 A voice of a multitude in the mountains, A likeness of a numerous people, A voice of noise from the kingdoms of nations who are gathered, YHWH of Hosts inspecting a host of battle!
Ka hooho ka a ka poe nui muluna o na mauna, E like me ko ka lahuikanaka nui; Ka hooho o ka hui ana o na aupuni, A me na aina i hoakoakoaia. O Iehova o na kaua, e hoolalelale ana ia i ke kaua no ka hoouka.
5 They are coming in from a far-off land, From the end of the heavens, YHWH and the instruments of His indignation, To destroy all the land.
Hele mai no lakou, mai ka aina mamao aku, A mai ka welau mai o ka lani; O Iehova, a me na mea hoopai o kona ukiuki, E anai i ka aina a pau.
6 Howl, for the Day of YHWH [is] near, It comes as destruction from the Mighty.
E aoa oukou, no ka mea, ua kokoke mai ka la o Iehova; E hiki mai no ia, e like me ka puahiohio, mai ka Mea Mana mai.
7 Therefore, all hands fail, And every heart of man melts.
Nolaila, e lewa wale ilalo na lima a pau, A e maule hoi na naau a pau o kanaka:
8 And they have been troubled, Pains and pangs take them, They are pained as a travailing woman, A man marvels at his friend, The appearance of flames—their faces!
E makau ananet lakou; E loohia lakou i ka eha nui, a me ka nahu kuakoko, E nui loa auanei ko lakou eha, e like me ke kuakoko o ka wahine hanau keiki; E haka pono no kekahi i kekahi me ka makau, E like ana ko lakou maka me ka lapalapa ahi.
9 Behold, the Day of YHWH comes, Fierce, with wrath, and heat of anger, To make the land become a desolation, Indeed, He destroys its sinning ones from it.
Aia hoi! ka la o Iehova, ke hele mai la, He weliweli loa no ka ukiuki, a me ka inaina nui, E hoolilo i ka aina i auakua, A e anai aku i ka poe hewa.
10 For the stars of the heavens, and their constellations, Do not cause their light to shine, The sun has been darkened in its going out, And the moon does not cause its light to come forth.
O na hoku o ka lani a me na huihui ona, Aole lakou e haawi mai i ka malamalama; E poeleele no ka la i kona hele ana, Aole hoi e hoomalamalama mai ka mahina.
11 “And I have appointed evil on the world, And on the wicked their iniquity, And have caused the excellence of the proud to cease, And I make the excellence of the terrible low.
A e hoopai aku au i ka hewa maluna o ka aina, A i ko lakou hala hoi maluna o ka poe lawehala. E hooki no wau i ka manao kiekie o ka poe hookano, A e hoohaahaa hoi au i ka manao haakei o ka poe hookaumaha.
12 I make man more rare than fine gold, And a common man than pure gold of Ophir.
E hana aku au, a e uuku na kanaka, he nui ke gula, He uuku kanaka, he nui na gula o Opira.
13 Therefore I cause the heavens to tremble, And the earth shakes from its place, In the wrath of YHWH of Hosts, And in a day of the heat of His anger.
No ka mea, e hoonaueue au i na lani, A e kulanalana ka honua mai kona wahi aku, No ka inaina o Iehova o na kaua, Ke hiki aku ka la o kona ukiuki wela.
14 And it has been, as a roe driven away, And as a flock that has no gatherer, Each to his people—they turn, And each to his land—they flee.
E like ana hoi ia me ka dia i hahaiia, Me na hipa hoi, aohe mea nana lakou e hoiliili. E huli no kela mea keia mea i kona poe kanaka iho, E holo no kela mea keia mea i kona aina iho.
15 Everyone who is found is thrust through, And everyone who is added falls by sword.
E houia na mea a pau i loaa; A o ka poe a pau i huiia'ku, e haule lakou i ka pahikaua.
16 And their sucklings are dashed to pieces before their eyes, Their houses are spoiled, and their wives lain with.
A e ulupaia ka la kou keiki imua o ko lakou mau maka; E haoia ko lakou hale, A e moe wale ia ka lakou mau wahine.
17 Behold, I am stirring up the Medes against them, Who do not esteem silver, And gold—they do not delight in it.
Aia hoi! e hoala no wau i ko Media e ku e ia lakou, I ka poe i manao ole i ke kala; A o ke gula hoi, aole lakou makemake ia mea.
18 And bows dash young men to pieces, And they do not pity the fruit of the womb, Their eye has no pity on sons.
Na ko lakou kakaka e kulai i na kanaka ui, Aole lakou e aloha i ka hua o ka opu; Aole e menemene ko lakou maka i na keiki uuku.
19 And Babylon, the beauty of kingdoms, The glory, the excellence of the Chaldeans, Has been as overthrown by God, With Sodom and with Gomorrah.
O Babulona, ka mea nani o na aupuni, Ka mea e hanohano ai, a e kaena ai hoi o Kaledea, E like auanei ia me Sodoma a me Gomora, Na mea a ke Akua i hookahuli ai.
20 She does not sit forever, Nor continue to many generations, Nor does Arab pitch tent there, And shepherds do not lie down there.
E kanaka ole ana ia mai ia wa aku, Aole e noho hou ia, mai ia hanauna, a ia hanauna aku; Aole e kukulu hou ka Arabia i kona halelewa malaila, A malaila hoi, aole e hoomoe hou na kahuhipa i ka lakou hipa.
21 And desert-dwellers have lain down there, And their houses have been full of howlers, And daughters of an ostrich have dwelt there, And goats skip there.
Malaila no e moe ai na holoholona o ka waonahele; A e piha no hoi ko lakou hale i na aoa; E noho no malaila ka iana, A e haa wale na kao hihiu malaila.
22 And howlers—he has responded in his forsaken habitations, And dragons in palaces of delight, And her time [is] near to come, And her days are not drawn out!”
E hae no na iliohae ma ko lakou halealii, A me na ilio hihiu ma ko lakou mau halelewa. Ua kokoke mai no kona manawa, Aole hoi e hooloihiia kona mau la.
