Hosea 9
1 “Do not rejoice, O Israel, do not be joyful like the peoples, For you have gone whoring from your God, You have loved a wage near all floors of grain.
Non darti alla gioia, Israele, non far festa con gli altri popoli, perchè hai praticato la prostituzione, abbandonando il tuo Dio, hai amato il prezzo della prostituzione su tutte le aie da grano.
2 Floor and winepress do not feed them, And new wine fails in her,
L'aia e il tino non li nutriranno e il vino nuovo verrà loro a mancare.
3 They do not abide in the land of YHWH, And Ephraim has turned back [to] Egypt, And they eat an unclean thing in Asshur.
Non potranno restare nella terra del Signore, ma Efraim ritornerà in Egitto e in Assiria mangeranno cibi immondi.
4 They do not pour out wine to YHWH, Nor are they sweet to Him, Their sacrifices [are] as bread of mourners to them, All eating it are unclean: For their bread [is] for themselves, It does not come into the house of YHWH.
Non faranno più libazioni di vino al Signore, i loro sacrifici non gli saranno graditi. Pane di lutto sarà il loro pane, coloro che ne mangiano diventano immondi. Il loro pane sarà tutto per loro, ma non entrerà nella casa del Signore.
5 What do you do at the day appointed? And at the day of YHWH’s festival?
Che farete nei giorni delle solennità, nei giorni della festa del Signore?
6 For behold, they have gone because of destruction, Egypt gathers them, Moph buries them, The desirable things of their silver, Nettles possess them—a thorn [is] in their tents.
Ecco sono sfuggiti alla rovina, l'Egitto li accoglierà, Menfi sarà la loro tomba. I loro tesori d'argento passeranno alle ortiche e nelle loro tende cresceranno i pruni.
7 The days of inspection have come in, The days of repayment have come in, Israel knows! The prophet [is] a fool, Mad [is] the man of the spirit, Because of the abundance of your iniquity, And great [is] the hatred.
Sono venuti i giorni del castigo, sono giunti i giorni del rendiconto, - Israele lo sappia: un pazzo è il profeta, l'uomo ispirato vaneggia - a causa delle tue molte iniquità, per la gravità del tuo affronto.
8 Ephraim is looking [away] from My God, The prophet! A snare of a fowler [is] over all his ways, Hatred [is] in the house of his God.
Sentinella di Efraim è il profeta con il suo Dio; ma un laccio gli è teso su tutti i sentieri, ostilità fin nella casa del suo Dio.
9 They have gone deep—have done corruptly, As [in] the days of Gibeah, He remembers their iniquity, He inspects their sins.
Sono corrotti fino in fondo, come ai giorni di Gàbaa: ma egli si ricorderà della loro iniquità, farà il conto dei loro peccati.
10 As grapes in a wilderness I found Israel, As the first-fruit in a fig tree, at its beginning, I have seen your fathers, They have gone in [to] Ba‘al-Peor, And are separated to a shameful thing, And have become abominable like their love.
Trovai Israele come uva nel deserto, riguardai i vostri padri come fichi primaticci al loro inizio; ma essi appena arrivati a Baal-Peòr si consacrarono a quell'infamia e divennero abominevoli come ciò che essi amavano.
11 Ephraim [is] as a bird, their glory flies away, without birth, and without womb, and without conception.
La gloria di Efraim volerà via come un uccello, non più nascite, né gravidanze, né concepimenti.
12 For though they nourish their sons, I have made them childless—without man, Surely also, woe to them when I turn aside from them.
Anche se allevano figli, io li eliminerò dagli uomini; guai a loro, se io li abbandono.
13 Ephraim! When I have looked to the rock, Is planted in comeliness, And Ephraim [is] to bring out his sons to a slayer.
Efraim, lo vedo, ha fatto dei figli una preda su luoghi verdeggianti. Efraim tuttavia condurrà i figli al macello.
14 Give to them, YHWH—what do You give? Give to them miscarrying womb, and dry breasts.
Signore, dà loro... Che darai? Un grembo infecondo e un seno arido!
15 All their evil [is] in Gilgal, Surely there I have hated them, Because of the evil of their doings, Out of My house I drive them, I no longer love them, All their heads [are] apostates.
Tutta la loro malizia s'è manifestata a Gàlgala, è là che ho preso a odiarli. Per i loro misfatti li scaccerò dalla mia casa, non avrò più amore per loro; tutti i loro capi sono ribelli.
16 Ephraim has been struck, Their root has dried up, they do not yield fruit, Indeed, though they bring forth, I have put to death the desired of their womb.
Efraim è stato percosso, la loro radice è inaridita, non daranno più frutto. Anche se generano, farò perire i cari frutti del loro grembo.
17 My God rejects them, Because they have not listened to Him, And they are wanderers among nations!”
Il mio Dio li rigetterà perchè non gli hanno obbedito; andranno raminghi fra le nazioni.
