Hosea 5
1 “Hear this, O priests, and attend, O house of Israel, And, O house of the king, give ear, For the judgment [is] for you, For you have been a snare on Mizpah, And a net spread out on Tabor.
Entendez-le, sacrificateurs, écoute-le, maison d'Israël! et maison du roi, sois-y attentive! car pour vous il s'agit du jugement; car vous fûtes un filet à Mitspa, et une toile tendue sur le Thabor.
2 And to slaughter sinners have gone deep, And I [am] a chain to them all.
Ils accumulent les sacrifices coupables; mais moi [j'accumulerai] les châtiments sur eux tous.
3 I have known Ephraim, And Israel has not been hid from Me, For now you have gone whoring, Ephraim, Israel is defiled.
Je connais Éphraïm, et Israël ne m'est point caché; car maintenant tu te prostitues, Éphraïm, et Israël se souille.
4 They do not give up their habitual doings, To turn back to their God, For a spirit of whoredoms [is] in their midst, And YHWH they have not known.
Ils ne font point leur œuvre de revenir à leur Dieu, car l'esprit d'impudicité est en eux, et de l'Éternel ils n'ont nulle connaissance.
5 And humbled has been the excellence of Israel to his face, And Israel and Ephraim stumble by their iniquity, Judah has also stumbled with them.
Ainsi l'orgueil d'Israël s'exprime sur son visage, et Israël et Éphraïm tomberont par l'effet de leur péché; avec eux tombera aussi Juda.
6 With their flock and with their herd, They go to seek YHWH, and do not find, He has withdrawn from them.
Avec leurs brebis et leurs taureaux ils viendront chercher l'Éternel et ne le trouveront pas; Il se dérobe à eux.
7 Against YHWH they dealt treacherously, For they have begotten strange sons, Now a month consumes them [with] their portions.
A l'Éternel ils furent infidèles; car ils donnèrent naissance à des enfants bâtards; maintenant il ne faudra qu'une nouvelle lune pour les dévorer, eux et leurs possessions.
8 Blow a horn in Gibeah, a trumpet in Ramah, Shout, O Beth-Aven, after you, O Benjamin.
Sonnez de la trompette en Guibha, et du clairon à Rama! pousse des cris, Bethaven! on est à ta poursuite, Benjamin!
9 Ephraim is for a desolation in a day of reproof, I have made known a sure thing among the tribes of Israel.
Éphraïm sera un désert au jour du châtiment; parmi les tribus d'Israël j'annonce une chose certaine.
10 Princes of Judah have been as those removing a border, I pour out My wrath as water on them.
Les princes de Juda sont comme ceux qui déplacent les bornes; sur eux je verserai comme les eaux ma colère.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, broken in judgment, When he pleased he went after the command.
Éphraïm est accablé, écrasé par le jugement, car il se plaît à suivre la voie qu'il se trace.
12 And I [am] as a moth to Ephraim, And as a rotten thing to the house of Judah.
Et je suis comme une teigne pour Éphraïm, comme une carie pour la maison de Juda.
13 And Ephraim sees his sickness, and Judah his wound, And Ephraim goes to Asshur, And sends to a warlike king, And he is not able to give healing to you, Nor does he remove a scar from you.
Et Éphraïm voit sa maladie, et Juda sa blessure, et Éphraïm se rend auprès d'Assur, et députe vers un roi qui le venge; mais il ne pourra vous guérir, ni enlever votre plaie.
14 For I [am] as a lion to Ephraim, And as a young lion to the house of Judah, I tear and go, I carry away, and there is no deliverer.
Car je suis comme un lion pour Éphraïm, et comme un jeune lion pour la maison de Juda; moi, moi je déchire, puis je m'en vais, j'emporte, et personne qui sauve.
15 I go—I return to My place, Until they are desolate, and have sought My face. In their distress they seek Me speedily!”
Je m'en vais et retourne à ma demeure, jusqu'à ce qu'ils se reconnaissent et cherchent ma face; dans leur angoisse ils voudront me trouver.
