Hosea 12
1 “Ephraim is enjoying wind, And is pursuing an east wind, All the day he multiplies lying and spoiling, And they make a covenant with Asshur, And oil is carried to Egypt.
Ephraim se apascenta de vento, e segue o vento leste: todo o dia multiplica a mentira e a destruição; e fazem alliança com a Assyria, e o azeite se leva ao Egypto.
2 And YHWH has a controversy with Judah, To lay a charge on Jacob according to his ways, He returns to him according to his doings.
O Senhor tambem com Judah tem contenda, e fará visitação sobre Jacob segundo os seus caminhos; segundo as suas obras lhe recompensará.
3 In the womb he took his brother by the heel, And by his strength he was a prince with God,
No ventre pegou do calcanhar de seu irmão, e pela sua força como principe se houve com Deus.
4 Indeed, he is a prince to the Messenger, And he overcomes [by] weeping, And he makes supplication to Him, At Bethel He finds him, And there He speaks with us,
Como principe se houve com o anjo, e prevaleceu; chorou, e lhe supplicou: em Beth-el o achou, e ali fallou comnosco,
5 Even YHWH, God of the Hosts, YHWH [is] His memorial.
A saber, o Senhor, o Deus dos Exercitos: o Senhor é o seu memorial.
6 And you, through your God, turn, Keep kindness and judgment, And wait on your God continually.
Tu, pois, converte-te a teu Deus: guarda a beneficencia e o juizo, e em teu Deus espera sempre.
7 Canaan! In his hand [are] balances of deceit! He has loved to oppress.
Na mão do mercador está uma balança enganosa; ama a oppressão.
8 And Ephraim says, Surely I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself, All my labors—they do not find against me iniquity that [is] sin.
Ainda diz Ephraim: Comtudo eu estou enriquecido, e tenho adquirido para mim grandes bens: em todo o meu trabalho não acharão em mim iniquidade alguma que seja peccado.
9 And I—your God YHWH from the land of Egypt, Again I turn you back into tents, As in the days of the appointed time.
Mas eu sou o Senhor teu Deus desde a terra do Egypto: eu ainda te farei habitar em tendas, como nos dias do ajuntamento.
10 And I have spoken to the prophets, And I have multiplied vision, And by the hand of the prophets I use allegories.
E fallarei aos prophetas, e multiplicarei a visão; e pelo ministerio dos prophetas proporei similes.
11 Surely Gilead [is] iniquity, They have been only vanity, In Gilead they have sacrificed bullocks, Also their altars [are] as heaps, on the furrows of a field.
Porventura não é Gilead iniquidade? pura vaidade são: em Gilgal sacrificam bois: os seus altares como montões de pedras são nos regos dos campos.
12 And Jacob flees to the country of Aram, And Israel serves for a wife, Indeed, he has kept watch for a wife.
Jacob fugiu para o campo da Syria, e Israel serviu por sua mulher, e por sua mulher guardou o gado.
13 And by a prophet has YHWH brought up Israel out of Egypt, And by a prophet it has been watched.
Mas o Senhor por um propheta fez subir a Israel do Egypto, e por um propheta foi elle guardado.
14 Ephraim has most bitterly provoked, And he leaves his blood on himself, And his Lord turns his reproach back to him!”
Ephraim porém mui amargosamente o irou: portanto deixará ficar sobre elle o seu sangue, e o seu Senhor lhe recompensará o seu opprobrio.
