Hosea 11

1 “Because Israel [is] a youth, and I love him, Out of Egypt I have called for My Son.

Când Israel era copil, atunci l-am iubit, şi am chemat pe fiul meu din Egipt.

2 They have called to them correctly, They have gone from before them, They sacrifice to lords, And make incense to carved images.

Precum ei i-au chemat, astfel au plecat de la ei; au sacrificat Baalilor şi au ars tămâie chipurilor cioplite.

3 And I have caused Ephraim to go on foot, Taking them by their arms, And they have not known that I strengthened them.

Pe Efraim l-am învăţat de asemenea să meargă, luându-i de braţe; dar nu au cunoscut că eu i-am vindecat.

4 I draw them with cords of man, With thick cords of love, And I am to them as a raiser up of a yoke on their jaws, And I incline to him—I feed [him].

I-am tras cu funii omeneşti, cu legături de iubire; şi le-am fost asemenea celor ce scot jugul de pe fălcile lor şi le-am pus mâncare.

5 He does not return to the land of Egypt, And Asshur—he [is] his king, For they have refused to return.

El nu se va întoarce în ţara Egiptului, ci asirianul va fi împăratul lui, pentru că au refuzat să se întoarcă.

6 The sword has been grievous in his cities, And it has ended his bars, and consumed—from their own counsels.

Şi sabia va rămâne peste cetăţile lui şi va mistui ramurile lui şi le va mânca, din cauza propriilor sfaturi.

7 And My people are hanging in suspense about My returning, And to the Most High they call, Together they do not exalt.

Şi poporul meu înclină a da înapoi de la mine; deşi ei i-au chemat la cel Preaînalt, nici măcar unul nu a voit să îl înalţe.

8 How do I give you up, O Ephraim? Do I deliver you up, O Israel? How do I make you as Admah? Do I set you as Zeboim? My heart is turned in Me, My sympathy has been kindled together.

Cum să renunţ la tine, Efraime? Cum să te dau, Israele? Cum să te fac precum Adma? Cum să te pun ca Ţeboimul? Inima mea s-a întors în mine, pocăinţele mele s-au aprins împreună.

9 I do not do the fierceness of My anger, I do not turn back to destroy Ephraim, For I [am] God, and not a man—The Holy One in your midst, and I do not enter in enmity.

Nu voi împlini înverşunarea mâniei mele, nu mă voi întoarce să nimicesc pe Efraim, pentru că eu sunt Dumnezeu, şi nu om; Cel Sfânt în mijlocul tău; şi nu voi intra în cetate.

10 They go after YHWH—He roars as a lion, When He roars, then the sons from the west tremble.

Ei vor umbla după DOMNUL; el va răcni ca un leu; când va răcni, atunci copiii de la vest vor tremura.

11 They tremble as a sparrow out of Egypt, And as a dove out of the land of Asshur, And I have caused them to dwell in their own houses,” A declaration of YHWH.

Vor tremura ca o pasăre din Egipt şi ca un porumbel din ţara Asiriei; şi îi voi pune în casele lor, spune DOMNUL.

12 “Ephraim has surrounded Me with feigning, And the house of Israel with deceit. And Judah is again ruling with God, And [is] faithful with the Holy Ones!”

Efraim mă înconjoară cu minciuni şi casa lui Israel cu înşelăciune; dar Iuda încă stăpâneşte cu Dumnezeu şi este credincios împreună cu sfinţii.
