< Genesis 6 >

1 And it comes to pass that mankind has begun to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters have been born to them,
And it came to pass when men had begun to multiply on the face of the ground and daughters had been born to them,
2 and the sons of God see that they, the daughters of men, [are] beautiful, and they take women for themselves of all whom they have chosen.
that the sons of God saw the daughters of men! that they were, fair, —so they took to themselves wives of whomsoever they chose,
3 And YHWH says, “My Spirit does not strive in man for all time, for indeed, he [is] flesh, but his days have been one hundred and twenty years.”
And Yahweh said—My spirit shall not rule in man to times age—abiding, for that, he also, is flesh, —Yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.
4 The giants were in the earth in those days, and even afterward, when sons of God come in to the daughters of men, and they have borne to them those who [were] the mighty from of old, the men of renown.
The giants, were in the earth in those days, and also, after that, when the sons of God began to go in unto the daughters of men, and sons were born to them, the same, were the heroes that were from age-past times the men of renown.
5 And YHWH sees that the wickedness of man [is] abundant in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [is] only evil every day;
Then Yahweh saw that great, was the wickedness of man in the earth, and that, every purpose of the devices of his heart, was only wicked all the day;
6 and YHWH regrets that He has made man in the earth, and He grieves Himself—to His heart.
and it grieved Yahweh, that he had made man in the earth, —and he took sorrow unto his heart.
7 And YHWH says, “I wipe away man whom I have created from off the face of the ground, from man to beast, to creeping thing, and to bird of the heavens, for I have regretted that I have made them.”
And Yahweh said—I must wipe off man whom I created from off the face of the ground, from man unto beast unto creeping thing, and unto the bird of the heavens, —for I am grieved that I made them.
8 And Noah found grace in the eyes of YHWH.
But, Noah, had found favour in the eyes, of Yahweh.
9 These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah [is] a righteous man; he has been perfect among his generations; Noah has habitually walked with God.
These, are the generations of Noah, Noah, was, a righteous man blameless, in his generations, —with God, did Noah walk.
10 And Noah begets three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
And Noah begat three sons, —Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 And the earth is corrupt before God, and the earth is filled [with] violence.
And the earth corrupted itself before God, —and the earth was filled with violence,
12 And God sees the earth, and behold, it has been corrupted, for all flesh has corrupted its way on the earth.
And God beheld the earth, and lo! it had corrupted itself, —surely all flesh had corrupted its way, on the earth.
13 And God said to Noah, “An end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth has been full of violence from their presence; and behold, I am destroying them with the earth.
So God said unto Noah: the end of all flesh, hath come in before me, for, filled, is the earth with violence, because of them, —behold me, then, destroying them with the earth.
14 Make an ark of gopher-wood for yourself; you make rooms within the Ark, and you have covered it from inside and from outside with pitch;
Make for thee an ark of timbers of gopher, rooms, shalt thou make with the ark, —and thou shalt cover it within and without with pitch.
15 and this [is] how you do it: three hundred cubits [is] the length of the Ark, fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height;
And, this, is how thou shalt make it, —three hundred cubits, the length of the ark, fifty cubits, the breadth thereof, and thirty cubits the height thereof.
16 you make a window for the Ark, and you finish it to a cubit from above; and you put the opening of the Ark in its side; you make it [with] lower, second, and third [stories].
A place for light, shalt thou make to the ark and to a cubit, shalt thou finish it upwards, and the opening of the ark—in the side thereof, shalt thou put, —with lower, second and third stories, shalt thou make it.
17 And I, behold, I am bringing in the flood of waters on the earth, to destroy from under the heavens all flesh in which [is] a living spirit; all that [is] in the earth expires.
And, I, behold me! bringing in the flood—even waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh wherein is the spirit of life, from under the heavens, —everything that is in the earth, shall cease to breathe:
18 And I have established My covenant with you, and you have come into the Ark—you, and your sons, and your wife, and your son’s wives with you;
therefore will I establish my covenant with thee, —and thou shalt enter into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives, with thee.
19 and of all that lives, of all flesh, you bring two from every [kind] into the Ark, to keep alive with you; they are male and female.
Moreover of all the living creatures of all flesh—two of each, shalt thou bring into the ark to keep alive with thee, —male and female, shall they be.
20 From the bird after its kind, and from the livestock after its kind, [and] from every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every [kind] they come to you, to keep alive.
Of the bird after its kind and of the beast after its kind, [and] of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of each, shall come in unto thee. for keeping alive.
21 And you, take for yourself from all food that is eaten; and you have gathered [it] to yourself, and it has been for you and for them for food.”
But thou, take to thee of all food that is eaten, and gather it unto thee, —and it shall be for thee and for them for food.
22 And Noah does according to all that God has commanded him; so he has done.
And Noah did [so], —according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
