Genesis 48
1 And it comes to pass, after these things, that [one] says to Joseph, “Behold, your father is sick”; and he takes his two sons with him, Manasseh and Ephraim.
சிறிது காலத்தின் பின்னர், “உம்முடைய தகப்பன் உடல் நலமில்லாமல் இருக்கிறார்” என்று யோசேப்புக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. அவன் தன் இரு மகன்களான மனாசேயையும் எப்பிராயீமையும் தன்னுடன் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனான்.
2 And [one] declares [it] to Jacob and says, “Behold, your son Joseph is coming to you”; and Israel strengthens himself, and sits on the bed.
“உம்முடைய மகன் யோசேப்பு வந்திருக்கிறான்” என்று யாக்கோபுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. உடனே இஸ்ரயேல் தன் பலத்தை ஒன்றுசேர்த்து எழுந்து கட்டிலில் உட்கார்ந்தான்.
3 And Jacob says to Joseph, “God Almighty has appeared to me, in Luz, in the land of Canaan, and blesses me,
யாக்கோபு யோசேப்பிடம், “கானானிலுள்ள லூஸ் என்னும் இடத்திலே எல்லாம் வல்ல இறைவன் எனக்குமுன் தோன்றி, என்னை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்.
4 and says to me, Behold, I am making you fruitful, and have multiplied you, and given you for an assembly of peoples, and given this land to your seed after you, a continuous possession.
அவர் என்னிடம், ‘நான் உன்னை இனவிருத்தியில் பெருகப்பண்ணி எண்ணிக்கையில் அதிகரிப்பேன். அத்துடன் நான் உன்னை பல மக்கள் கூட்டமாக்கி, இந்த நாட்டை உனக்குப்பின் உன் சந்ததிகளுக்கும் நித்திய உடைமையாகக் கொடுப்பேன்’ என்றார்.
5 And now, your two sons, who are born to you in the land of Egypt, before my coming to you to Egypt, they [are] mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, as Reuben and Simeon, they are mine;
“எனவே, நான் இங்கே உன்னிடம் எகிப்திற்கு வருவதற்குமுன், உனக்குப் பிறந்த இரண்டு பிள்ளைகளும் இப்பொழுதிலிருந்து என்னுடைய மகன்களாக எண்ணப்படுவார்கள்; ரூபனும், சிமியோனும் என் மகன்களாய் இருப்பதுபோல், எப்பிராயீமும் மனாசேயும் என் மகன்களாய் இருப்பார்கள்.
6 and your family which you have begotten after them are yours; by the name of their brothers they are called in their inheritance.
அவர்களுக்குப்பின் உனக்குப் பிறக்கும் பிள்ளைகள் எல்லோரும் உன்னுடையவர்களாய் இருப்பார்கள்; அந்த பிள்ளைகள் சொத்துரிமையாகப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும் இடங்கள், தங்கள் சகோதரரான மனாசே, எப்பிராயீம் ஆகியோரின் இடங்களிலிருந்தே கிடைக்கும்.
7 And I—in my coming in from Padan-[Aram] Rachel has died by me in the land of Canaan, in the way, while yet a distance of land to enter Ephrata, and I bury her there in the way of Ephrata, which [is] Beth-Lehem.”
நான் பதானைவிட்டுத் திரும்பி வருகையில், எப்பிராத்தாவுக்குச் சற்று தூரத்தில், கானான் நாட்டில் நாங்கள் வழியில் இருக்கும்போதே, ராகேல் இறந்தாள்; பெத்லெகேம் எனப்படும் எப்பிராத்தாவுக்குப் போகும் வழியின் அருகே நான் அவளை அடக்கம் செய்தேன்” என்றான்.
8 And Israel sees the sons of Joseph and says, “Who [are] these?”
இஸ்ரயேல் யோசேப்பின் மகன்களை கண்டபோது, “இவர்கள் யார்?” என்று அவனிடம் கேட்டான்.
9 And Joseph says to his father, “They [are] my sons, whom God has given to me in this [place]”; and he says, “Please bring them to me, and I bless them.”
அதற்கு யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனிடம், “இவர்கள்தான் இறைவன் எனக்குக் கொடுத்த பிள்ளைகள்” என்றான். அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரயேல் யோசேப்பிடம், “நான் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்படி அவர்களை என்னிடம் கொண்டுவா” என்றான்.
10 And the eyes of Israel have been heavy from age—he is unable to see; and he brings them near to him, and he kisses them and cleaves to them;
வயது சென்றபடியால் இஸ்ரயேலின் கண்பார்வை மங்கியிருந்தது, அதனால் தெளிவாகப் பார்க்க முடியவில்லை. ஆகையால் யோசேப்பு அவர்களை அவனுக்கு அருகில் கொண்டுவந்தான்; யாக்கோபு அவர்களைக் கட்டி அணைத்து முத்தமிட்டான்.
11 and Israel says to Joseph, “I had not thought [possible] to see your face, and behold, God has also showed me your seed.”
அதன்பின் இஸ்ரயேல் யோசேப்பிடம், “திரும்பவும் உன் முகத்தைப் பார்ப்பேனென்று நான் ஒருபோதும் எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை. இப்பொழுதோ இறைவன் நான் உன்னுடைய பிள்ளைகளையும் காணும்படி செய்தாரே” என்றான்.
12 And Joseph brings them out from between his knees, and bows himself on his face to the earth;
யோசேப்பு இஸ்ரயேலின் முழங்கால்கள் நடுவிலிருந்த தன் பிள்ளைகளை விலக்கிவிட்டு செய்து தரைமட்டும் குனிந்து தன் தகப்பனை வணங்கினான்.
13 and Joseph takes them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left, and Manasseh in his left toward Israel’s right, and brings [them] near to him.
பின்பு யோசேப்பு அவர்கள் இருவரையும் பிடித்து, எப்பிராயீமை தன் வலதுகையினால் இஸ்ரயேலின் இடப்பக்கத்திலும், மனாசேயைத் தன் இடது கையினால் இஸ்ரயேலின் வலதுபக்கத்திலுமாகத் தன் தகப்பன் அருகே கொண்டுவந்தான்.
14 And Israel puts out his right hand and places [it] on the head of Ephraim, who [is] the younger, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh; he has guided his hands wisely, for Manasseh [is] the firstborn.
ஆனால் இஸ்ரயேல், தன் இரு கைகளையும் குறுக்காக நீட்டி, எப்பிராயீம் இளையவனாயிருந்தபோதிலும் அவன் தலையின்மேல் தன் வலதுகையை வைத்தான்; மனாசே மூத்தவனாய் இருந்தபோதிலும், அவன் தலையின்மேல் இடதுகையை வைத்தான்.
15 And he blesses Joseph and says, “God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac habitually walked: God who is feeding me from my being to this day:
அதன்பின் இஸ்ரயேல் யோசேப்பை ஆசீர்வதித்து சொன்னது: “என் தந்தையர்களான ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு ஆகியோர் வழிபட்ட இறைவனும், என் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் இன்றுவரை என் மேய்ப்பராயிருந்த இறைவனும்,
16 the Messenger who is redeeming me from all evil blesses the youths, and my name is called on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and they increase into a multitude in the midst of the land.”
எல்லா தீங்குகளிலிருந்தும் என்னை விடுவித்த தூதனுமானவர் இந்தப் பிள்ளைகளை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக. இவர்கள் என்னுடைய பெயராலும், என் தந்தையர்களான ஆபிரகாமினுடைய, ஈசாக்கினுடைய பெயர்களாலும் அழைக்கப்படுவார்களாக. இவர்கள் பூமியில் மிகுதியாய்ப் பெருகுவார்களாக.”
17 And Joseph sees that his father sets his right hand on the head of Ephraim, and it is wrong in his eyes, and he supports the hand of his father to turn it aside from off the head of Ephraim to the head of Manasseh;
தனது தகப்பன் அவருடைய வலதுகையை எப்பிராயீமுடைய தலையில் வைத்ததை யோசேப்பு கண்டான், அது அவனுக்கு விருப்பமில்லாதிருந்தது; அதனால் எப்பிராயீமுடைய தலையிலிருந்த யாக்கோபின் வலதுகையை மனாசேயின் தலையில் வைப்பதற்காகப் பிடித்தான்.
18 and Joseph says to his father, “Not so, my father, for this [is] the firstborn; set your right hand on his head.”
யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனிடம், “அப்படியல்ல அப்பா, இவனே என் மூத்த மகன்; இவன் தலைமேல் உங்களுடைய வலதுகையை வையுங்கள்” என்றான்.
19 And his father refuses and says, “I have known, my son, I have known; he also becomes a people, and he also is great, and yet, his young brother is greater than he, and his seed is the fullness of the nations”;
ஆனால் யாக்கோபோ அப்படிச் செய்ய மறுத்து, “எனக்குத் தெரியும், என் மகனே, எனக்குத் தெரியும். மனாசேயும் ஒரு பெரிய மக்கள் கூட்டமாவான், இவனும் பெரியவனாவான். எனினும் இவனுடைய இளைய சகோதரன் இவனிலும் பெரியவனாவான்; இவனுடைய சந்ததி பெருகி பல நாடுகளின் கூட்டமாகும்” என்றான்.
20 and he blesses them in that day, saying, “By you does Israel bless, saying, God set you as Ephraim and as Manasseh”; and he sets Ephraim before Manasseh.
அன்றையதினம் அவன் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதித்துச் சொன்னது: “‘எப்பிராயீம், மனாசேயைப்போல் உங்களையும் இறைவன் பெருகப்பண்ணுவாராக’ என்று இஸ்ரயேலர் உங்கள் பெயரால் ஆசீர்வாதத்தைச் சொல்வார்கள்.” இவ்வாறு அவன் மனாசேயைவிட எப்பிராயீமுக்கு முதலிடம் கொடுத்தான்.
21 And Israel says to Joseph, “Behold, I am dying, and God has been with you, and has brought you back to the land of your fathers;
பின்பு இஸ்ரயேல் யோசேப்பிடம், “நான் சாகும் தருவாயில் இருக்கிறேன்; ஆனால் இறைவன் உங்களுடன் இருந்து, அவர் உங்களை உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களின் நாட்டிற்குத் திரும்பவும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போவார்.
22 and I have given to you one portion above your brothers, which I have taken out of the hand of the Amorite by my sword and by my bow.”
உன் சகோதரருக்கு மேலானவனாக இருக்கிற உனக்கோ, எமோரியரிடமிருந்து நான் வாளினாலும் வில்லினாலும் கைப்பற்றிய மேட்டு நிலத்தைக் கொடுக்கிறேன்” என்றான்.
