Genesis 47
1 And Joseph comes and declares [it] to Pharaoh, and says, “My father, and my brothers, and their flock, and their herd, and all they have, have come from the land of Canaan, and behold, they [are] in the land of Goshen.”
José informó a Faraón: Mi padre y mis hermanos, sus rebaños y manadas de ganado vacuno, con todo lo que tienen, llegaron de la tierra de Canaán, y aquí están en la tierra de Gosén.
2 And out of his brothers he has taken five men, and sets them before Pharaoh;
Tomó de entre sus hermanos a cinco de ellos y los presentó a Faraón.
3 and Pharaoh says to his brothers, “What [are] your works?” And they say to Pharaoh, “Your servants [are] feeders of a flock, both we and our fathers”;
Entonces Faraón preguntó a sus hermanos: ¿Cuál es su oficio? Y respondieron: Tus esclavos somos pastores de ovejas, tanto nosotros como nuestros antepasados.
4 and they say to Pharaoh, “We have come to sojourn in the land, for there is no pasture for the flock which your servants have, for the famine in the land of Canaan [is] grievous; and now, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.”
También dijeron a Faraón: Vinimos para vivir en esta tierra, pues la hambruna aprieta en la tierra de Canaán y no hay pasto para las ovejas de tus esclavos. Por tanto, te rogamos que permitas que tus esclavos vivan en tierra de Gosén.
5 And Pharaoh speaks to Joseph, saying, “Your father and your brothers have come to you:
Entonces Faraón habló a José: Tu padre y tus hermanos vinieron a ti.
6 the land of Egypt is before you; cause your father and your brothers to dwell in the best of the land—they dwell in the land of Goshen, and if you have known, and there are among them men of ability, then you have set them [as] heads over the livestock I have.”
La tierra de Egipto está delante de ti. Haz que tu padre y tus hermanos vivan en lo mejor de esta tierra. Que vivan en la tierra de Gosén, y si juzgas que hay entre ellos hombres aptos, colócalos como pastores principales de mi ganado.
7 And Joseph brings in his father Jacob, and causes him to stand before Pharaoh; and Jacob blesses Pharaoh.
Luego José llevó a su padre Jacob y lo presentó a Faraón. Jacob bendijo a Faraón.
8 And Pharaoh says to Jacob, “How many [are] the days of the years of your life?”
Entonces Faraón preguntó a Jacob: ¿Cuántos años tienes?
9 And Jacob says to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my sojournings [are] one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not reached the days of the years of the life of my fathers, in the days of their sojournings.”
Jacob le respondió: Los años de mi peregrinación son 130. Pocos y malos son los años de mi vida, y no llegaron a los años de la vida de mis antepasados.
10 And Jacob blesses Pharaoh, and goes out from before Pharaoh.
Jacob bendijo a Faraón y salió de su presencia.
11 And Joseph settles his father and his brothers, and gives a possession to them in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh commanded;
José logró que su padre y sus hermanos vivieran y les dio posesión en lo mejor de la tierra de Egipto, en la tierra de Rameses, como Faraón ordenó.
12 and Joseph nourishes his father, and his brothers, and all the house of his father [with] bread, according to the mouth of the infants.
José abastecía a su padre, a sus hermanos y a toda la familia de su padre, incluso a los pequeños,
13 And there is no bread in all the land, for the famine [is] very grievous, and the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan are feeble because of the famine;
aunque no había alimento en todo el país. La hambruna era muy grave, y la tierra de Egipto y la de Canaán desfallecían a causa de la hambruna.
14 and Joseph gathers all the silver that is found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain that they are buying, and Joseph brings the silver into the house of Pharaoh.
José recogió todo el dinero que se halló en la tierra de Egipto y en Canaán por el grano que le compraban, e ingresó el dinero en la casa de Faraón.
15 And the silver is consumed out of the land of Egypt and out of the land of Canaan, and all the Egyptians come to Joseph, saying, “Give bread to us—why do we die before you, though the money has ceased?”
Cuando se acabó el dinero de la tierra de Egipto y de la tierra de Canaán, todo Egipto acudió a José y dijo: Danos pan. ¿Por qué tenemos que morir delante de ti por haberse acabado el dinero?
16 And Joseph says, “Give your livestock; and I give to you for your livestock, if the money has ceased.”
Entonces contestó: Si se acabó la plata, entreguen su ganado, y yo les daré alimento por su ganado.
17 And they bring in their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gives to them bread, for the horses, and for the livestock of the flock, and for the livestock of the herd, and for the donkeys; and he tends them with bread, for all their livestock, during that year.
Y le llevaron sus ganados a José. Entonces José les dio alimento por los caballos, por el ganado del rebaño, por las reces de la manada de ganado vacuno y por los asnos. Durante aquel año les suministró alimento a cambio de todos sus ganados.
18 And that year is finished, and they come to him on the second year, and say to him, “We do not hide from my lord, that since the money has been finished, and possession of the livestock [is] to my lord, there has not been left before my lord except our bodies, and our ground;
Cuando finalizó aquel año, acudieron a él el segundo año y le dijeron: No ocultamos a nuestro ʼadón que, puesto que la plata se acabó y también el ganado es de nuestro ʼadón, nada queda delante de nuestro ʼadón sino nuestros cuerpos y nuestra tierra.
19 why do we die before your eyes, both we and our ground? Buy us and our ground for bread, and we and our ground are servants to Pharaoh; and give seed, and we live, and do not die, and the ground is not desolate.”
¿Por qué tenemos que perecer delante de ti, tanto nosotros como nuestras tierras? Cómpranos a nosotros y a nuestra tierra por alimento, y nosotros y nuestras tierras seremos esclavos de Faraón. Pero danos semilla para que vivamos y no muramos, y la tierra no sea asolada.
20 And Joseph buys all the ground of Egypt for Pharaoh, for the Egyptians have each sold his field, for the famine has been severe on them, and the land becomes Pharaoh’s;
Entonces José compró para Faraón toda la tierra de Egipto, porque todos los egipcios vendían sus campos, pues la hambruna arreciaba sobre ellos. Así la tierra llegó a ser de Faraón.
21 as for the people, he has removed them to cities from the [one] end of the border of Egypt even to its [other] end.
Mandó trasladar al pueblo a las ciudades, desde un extremo al otro de Egipto.
22 Only the ground of the priests he has not bought, for the priests have a portion from Pharaoh, and they have eaten their portion which Pharaoh has given to them, therefore they have not sold their ground.
Solamente no compró la tierra de los sacerdotes, porque había un estatuto de Faraón para los sacerdotes, y ellos comían la ración que Faraón les daba. Por eso no tuvieron que vender sus tierras.
23 And Joseph says to the people, “Behold, I have bought you today and your ground for Pharaoh; behold, seed for you, and you have sown the ground,
José dijo al pueblo: Miren, hoy los compré a ustedes con sus tierras para Faraón. Aquí tienen semilla para sembrar la tierra.
24 and it has come to pass in the increases, that you have given a fifth to Pharaoh, and four of the parts are for yourselves, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for those who [are] in your houses, and for food for your infants.”
Cuando llegue la cosecha darán la quinta parte a Faraón, y las cuatro partes serán de ustedes para sembrar el campo. Ustedes tendrán alimento, también los que están en sus casas y sus pequeños.
25 And they say, “You have revived us; we find grace in the eyes of my lord, and have been servants to Pharaoh”;
Respondieron: ¡Nos salvaste la vida! Hallemos gracia ante nuestro ʼadón y seamos esclavos de Faraón.
26 and Joseph sets it for a statute to this day, concerning the ground of Egypt, [that] Pharaoh has a fifth; only the ground of the priests alone has not become Pharaoh’s.
José lo estableció por estatuto sobre la tierra de Egipto hasta hoy: Faraón recibe la quinta parte. Solo la tierra de los sacerdotes no fue de Faraón.
27 And Israel dwells in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen, and they have possession in it, and are fruitful, and multiply exceedingly;
Israel estuvo en tierra de Gosén en Egipto. Tomaron posesión en ella, y fructificaron y se multiplicaron muchísimo.
28 and Jacob lives in the land of Egypt seventeen years, and the days of Jacob, the years of his life, are one hundred and forty-seven years.
Jacob vivió en la tierra de Egipto 17 años, pues los días de Jacob fueron 147 años.
29 And the days of Israel are near to die, and he calls for his son, for Joseph, and says to him, “Now if I have found grace in your eyes, please put your hand under my thigh, and you have done kindness and truth with me; please do not bury me in Egypt,
Cuando se acercó el tiempo para morir, Israel llamó a su hijo José y le dijo: Si hallé gracia ante ti, pon ahora tu mano debajo de mi muslo y haz conmigo misericordia y verdad. Te ruego que no me entierres en Egipto.
30 and I have lain with my fathers, and you have carried me out of Egypt, and buried me in their burying-place.” And he says, “I do according to your word”;
Que cuando descanse con mis antepasados, me lleves de Egipto y me sepultes en el sepulcro de ellos. Y José respondió: Haré como tú dices.
31 and he says, “Swear to me”; and he swears to him, and Israel bows himself on the head of the bed.
Y él le dijo: Júramelo. Y le juró. Entonces Israel se postró sobre la cabecera de la cama.
