Genesis 38
1 And it comes to pass, at that time, that Judah goes down from his brothers, and turns aside to a man, an Adullamite, whose name [is] Hirah;
௧அக்காலத்திலே யூதா தன் சகோதரர்களை விட்டு, அதுல்லாம் ஊரானாகிய ஈரா என்னும் ஒரு மனிதனிடத்தில் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தான்.
2 and Judah sees there the daughter of a man, a Canaanite, whose name [is] Shuah, and takes her, and goes in to her.
௨அங்கே யூதா, சூவா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு கானானியனுடைய மகளைக் கண்டு, அவளைத் திருமணம்செய்து, அவளோடு உறவுகொண்டான்.
3 And she conceives, and bears a son, and he calls his name Er;
௩அவள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்றெடுத்தாள்; அவனுக்கு ஏர் என்று பெயரிட்டான்.
4 and she conceives again, and bears a son, and calls his name Onan;
௪அவள் மறுபடியும் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்று, அவனுக்கு ஓனான் என்று பெயரிட்டாள்.
5 and she adds again, and bears a son, and calls his name Shelah; and he was in Chezib in her bearing him.
௫அவள் மறுபடியும் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்று, அவனுக்கு சேலா என்று பெயரிட்டாள்; அவள் இவனைப் பெறுகிறபோது, அவன் கெசீபிலே இருந்தான்.
6 And Judah takes a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name [is] Tamar;
௬யூதா தன் மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏர் என்பவனுக்குத் தாமார் என்னும் பெயருள்ள ஒரு பெண்ணைத் திருமணம் செய்துவைத்தான்.
7 and Er, Judah’s firstborn, is evil in the eyes of YHWH, and YHWH puts him to death.
௭யூதாவின் மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏர் என்பவன் யெகோவாவின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாதவனாக இருந்ததால், யெகோவா அவனை அழித்துப்போட்டார்.
8 And Judah says to Onan, “Go in to the wife of your brother, and marry her, and raise up seed to your brother”;
௮அப்பொழுது யூதா ஓனானை நோக்கி: “நீ உன் அண்ணன் மனைவியைச் சேர்ந்து, அவளுக்கு மைத்துனனுக்குரிய கடமையைச் செய்து, உன் அண்ணனுக்கு சந்ததியை உண்டாக்கு” என்றான்.
9 and Onan knows that the seed is not [reckoned] his; and it has come to pass, if he has gone in to his brother’s wife, that he has destroyed [it] to the earth, so as not to give seed to his brother;
௯அந்த சந்ததி தன் சந்ததியாக இருக்காதென்று ஓனான் அறிந்ததால், அவன் தன் அண்ணனுடைய மனைவியைச் சேரும்போது, தன் அண்ணனுக்கு சந்ததி உண்டாகாதபடித் தன் விந்தைத் தரையிலே விழவிட்டான்.
10 and that which he has done is evil in the eyes of YHWH, and He puts him also to death.
௧0அவன் செய்தது யெகோவாவுடைய பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாததாக இருந்ததினால், அவனையும் அவர் அழித்துப்போட்டார்.
11 And Judah says to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Abide [as] a widow at your father’s house, until my son Shelah grows up”; for he said, “Lest he die—even he—like his brothers”; and Tamar goes and dwells at her father’s house.
௧௧அப்பொழுது யூதா, தன் மகனாகிய சேலாவும் அவனுடைய சகோதரர்கள் இறந்ததுபோல இறப்பான் என்று பயந்து, தன் மருமகளாகிய தாமாரை நோக்கி: “என் மகனாகிய சேலா பெரியவனாகும்வரைக்கும், நீ உன் தகப்பன் வீட்டில் விதவையாகத் தங்கியிரு” என்று சொன்னான்; அதன்படியே தாமார் போய்த் தன் தகப்பனுடைய வீட்டிலே தங்கியிருந்தாள்.
12 And the days are multiplied, and the daughter of Shuah, Judah’s wife, dies; and Judah is comforted, and goes up to his sheep-shearers, he and Hirah his friend the Adullamite, to Timnath.
௧௨அநேகநாட்கள் சென்றபின், சூவாவின் மகளாகிய யூதாவின் மனைவி இறந்தாள். யூதாவினுடைய துக்கம் ஆறினபின், அவன் அதுல்லாம் ஊரானாகிய தன் சிநேகிதன் ஈராவுடனே திம்னாவிலே தன் ஆடுகளை மயிர்க் கத்தரிக்கிறவர்களிடத்திற்குப் போனான்.
13 And it is declared to Tamar, saying, “Behold, your husband’s father is going up to Timnath to shear his flock”;
௧௩அப்பொழுது: “உன் மாமனார் தம்முடைய ஆடுகளை மயிர்க்கத்தரிக்கத் திம்னாவுக்குப் போகிறார்” என்று தாமாருக்குத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
14 and she turns aside the garments of her widowhood from off her, and covers herself with a veil, and wraps herself up, and sits in the opening of Enayim, which [is] by the way to Timnath, for she has seen that Shelah has grown up, and she has not been given to him for a wife.
௧௪சேலா பெரியவனாகியும் தான் அவனுக்கு மனைவியாகக் கொடுக்கப்படவில்லை என்று அவள் கண்டதால், தன் விதவைக்குரிய ஆடைகளை மாற்றி, முக்காடிட்டுத் தன்னை மூடிக்கொண்டு, திம்னாவுக்குப் போகிற வழியிலிருக்கிற நீரூற்றுகளுக்கு முன்பாக உட்கார்ந்தாள்.
15 And Judah sees her, and reckons her for a harlot, for she has covered her face,
௧௫யூதா அவளைக் கண்டு, அவள் தன் முகத்தை மூடியிருந்ததால், அவள் ஒரு விலைமாது என்று நினைத்து,
16 and he turns aside to her by the way and says, “Please come, let me come in to you,” for he has not known that she [is] his daughter-in-law; and she says, “What do you give to me, that you may come in to me?”
௧௬அந்த வழியாக அவளிடத்தில் போய், அவள் தன் மருமகள் என்று அறியாமல்: “நான் உன்னிடத்தில் சேர வருவாயா” என்றான்; அதற்கு அவள்: “நீர் என்னிடத்தில் சேருவதற்கு, எனக்கு என்ன தருவீர்” என்றாள்.
17 And he says, “I send a kid of the goats from the flock.” And she says, “Do you give a pledge until you send [it]?”
௧௭அதற்கு அவன்: நான் மந்தையிலிருந்து ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியை அனுப்புகிறேன்” என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: “நீர் அதை அனுப்பும்வரைக்கும் ஒரு அடைமானம் கொடுப்பீரா” என்றாள்.
18 And he says, “What [is] the pledge that I give to you?” And she says, “Your seal, and your ribbon, and your staff which [is] in your hand”; and he gives to her, and goes in to her, and she conceives to him;
௧௮அப்பொழுது அவன்: “நான் உனக்கு அடைமானமாக என்ன கொடுக்கவேண்டும்” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவள்: “உம்முடைய முத்திரை மோதிரமும், அதனுடைய கயிறும், உம்முடைய கைத்தடியையும் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்” என்றாள். அவன் அவைகளை அவளுக்குக் கொடுத்து, அவளிடத்தில் சேர்ந்தான்; அவள் அவனாலே கர்ப்பவதியாகி,
19 and she rises, and goes, and turns aside her veil from off her, and puts on the garments of her widowhood.
௧௯எழுந்துபோய், தன் முக்காட்டை மாற்றி, தன் விதவைக்குரிய ஆடைகளை அணிந்துகொண்டாள்.
20 And Judah sends the kid of the goats by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive the pledge from the hand of the woman, and he has not found her.
௨0யூதா அந்த பெண்ணிடத்தில் இருந்த அடைமானத்தை வாங்கிக்கொண்டுவர அதுல்லாம் ஊரானாகிய தன் நண்பனிடம் ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியைக் கொடுத்தனுப்பினான்; அவன் அவளைக் காணாமல்,
21 And he asks the men of her place, saying, “Where [is] the separated one—she in Enayim, by the way?” And they say, “There has not been in this [place] a separated one.”
௨௧அந்த இடத்தின் மனிதர்களை நோக்கி: “வழியிலே நீரூற்றுகள் அருகே இருந்த விலைமாது எங்கே” என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள்: “இங்கே விலைமாது இல்லை” என்றார்கள்.
22 And he turns back to Judah and says, “I have not found her; and the men of the place also have said, There has not been in this [place] a separated one,”
௨௨அவன் யூதாவினிடத்தில் திரும்பி வந்து: “அவளைக் காணவில்லை, அங்கே விலைமாது இல்லையென்று அந்த இடத்து மனிதர்களும் சொல்லுகிறார்கள்” என்றான்.
23 and Judah says, “Let her take to herself, lest we become despised; behold, I sent this kid, and you have not found her.”
௨௩அப்பொழுது யூதா: “இதோ, இந்த ஆட்டுக்குட்டியை அனுப்பினேன், நீ அவளைக் காணவில்லை; நமக்கு வெட்கம் உண்டாகாதபடி, அவள் அதைக் கொண்டுபோனால் போகட்டும்” என்றான்.
24 And it comes to pass about three months [after], that it is declared to Judah, saying, “Your daughter-in-law Tamar has committed fornication; and also, behold, she has conceived by fornication”: and Judah says, “Bring her out—and she is burned.”
௨௪ஏறக்குறைய மூன்றுமாதம் சென்றபின்பு உன் மருமகளாகிய தாமார் வேசித்தனம்செய்தாள், அந்த வேசித்தனத்தினால் கர்ப்பவதியுமானாள் என்று யூதாவுக்கு தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. அப்பொழுது யூதா: “அவளை வெளியே கொண்டுவாருங்கள், அவள் சுட்டெரிக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்றான்.
25 She is brought out, and she has sent to her husband’s father, saying, “To a man whose these [are], I [am] pregnant”; and she says, “Please discern whose these [are]—the seal, and the ribbons, and the staff.”
௨௫அவள் வெளியே கொண்டுவரப்பட்டபோது, அவள் தன் மாமனிடத்திற்கு அந்த அடைமானத்தை அனுப்பி, இந்தப் பொருட்களை உடையவன் எவனோ அவனாலே நான் கர்ப்பவதியானேன்; இந்த முத்திரை மோதிரமும், கயிறும், இந்தக் கோலும் யாருடையவைகள் பாரும்” என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினாள்.
26 And Judah discerns and says, “She has been more righteous than I, because that I did not give her to my son Shelah”; and he has not added to know her again.
௨௬யூதா அவைகளை அடையாளம்கண்டு: “என்னிலும் அவள் நீதியுள்ளவள்; அவளை என் மகனாகிய சேலாவுக்குக் கொடுக்காமற்போனேனே” என்றான். அப்புறம் அவன் அவளைச் சேரவில்லை.
27 And it comes to pass in the time of her bearing, that behold, twins [are] in her womb;
௨௭அவளுக்குப் பிரசவநேரம் வந்தபோது, அவளுடைய கர்ப்பத்தில் இரட்டைப்பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தன.
28 and it comes to pass in her bearing, that [one] gives out a hand, and the midwife takes and binds on his hand a scarlet thread, saying, “This has come out first.”
௨௮அவள் பிரசவிக்கும்போது, ஒரு குழந்தை கையை நீட்டினது; அப்பொழுது மருத்துவச்சி அதன் கையைப் பிடித்து, அதில் சிவப்புநூலைக் கட்டி, “இது முதலாவது வெளிப்பட்டது” என்றாள்.
29 And it comes to pass as he draws back his hand, that behold, his brother has come out, and she says, “What! You have broken forth—the breach [is] on you”; and he calls his name Perez;
௨௯அது தன் கையைத் திரும்ப உள்ளே வாங்கிக்கொண்டபோது, அதின் சகோதரன் வெளிப்பட்டான். அப்பொழுது அவள்: “நீ மீறிவந்தது என்ன, இந்த மீறுதல் உன்மேல் நிற்கும்” என்றாள்; அதனால் அவனுக்குப் பாரேஸ் என்று பெயரிடப்பட்டது.
30 and afterward his brother has come out, on whose hand [is] the scarlet thread, and he calls his name Zerah.
௩0பின்பு கையில் சிவப்புநூல் கட்டப்பட்டிருந்த அவனுடைய தம்பி வெளிப்பட்டான்; அவனுக்கு சேரா என்று பெயரிடப்பட்டது.
