Genesis 35
1 And God says to Jacob, “Rise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared to you in your fleeing from the face of your brother Esau.”
Und Gott sprach zu Jakob: Mache dich auf, gehe hinauf nach Bethel und wohne daselbst, und mache dort einen Altar dem Gotte, Der dir erschienen ist, da du vor deinem Bruder Esau flohest.
2 And Jacob says to his household, and to all who [are] with him, “Turn aside the gods of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments;
Und Jakob sprach zu seinem Hause und allen, die mit ihm waren: Nehmt weg die ausländischen Götter, die in eurer Mitte sind und reinigt euch und wechselt eure Gewänder.
3 and we rise, and go up to Bethel, and I make there an altar to God, who is answering me in the day of my tribulation, and is with me in the way that I have gone.”
Und wir wollen uns aufmachen und hinauf gen Bethel gehen; und dort will ich einen Altar machen dem Gotte, Der mir geantwortet hat am Tage meiner Bedrängnis und mit mir war auf dem Wege, den ich wandelte.
4 And they give to Jacob all the gods of the stranger that [are] in their hand, and the rings that [are] in their ears, and Jacob hides them under the oak which [is] by Shechem;
Und sie gaben Jakob alle ausländischen Götter, die in ihrer Hand waren, und die Reife, die sie in ihren Ohren hatten und Jakob verbarg sie unter der Eiche, die bei Schechem war.
5 and they journey, and the terror of God is on the cities which [are] around them, and they have not pursued after the sons of Jacob.
Und sie brachen auf, und das Entsetzen Gottes war über den Städten um sie her, so daß sie hinter den Söhnen Jakobs nicht nachsetzten.
6 And Jacob comes to Luz which [is] in the land of Canaan (it [is] Bethel), he and all the people who [are] with him,
Und Jakob kam nach Luz im Lande Kanaan, das ist Bethel, er und alles Volk, das mit ihm war.
7 and he builds there an altar, and proclaims at the place the God of Bethel: for there had God been revealed to him, in his fleeing from the face of his brother.
Und daselbst baute er einen Altar und nannte den Ort El-Bethel, weil dort sich ihm Gott offenbarte, als er vor seinem Bruder entwich.
8 And Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, dies, and she is buried at the lower part of Bethel, under the oak, and he calls its name “Oak of Weeping.”
Und es starb Deborah, Rebekahs Amme, und ward unterhalb Bethel unter der Eiche begraben, und man nannte ihren Namen Allon Bachuth.
9 And God appears to Jacob again, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and blesses him;
Und Gott erschien dem Jakob wieder, als er von Padan Aram gekommen war, und segnete ihn.
10 and God says to him, “Your name [is] Jacob: your name is no longer called Jacob, but Israel is your name”; and He calls his name Israel.
Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Dein Name ist Jakob; dein Name soll nicht mehr Jakob genannt werden, vielmehr Israel soll dein Name sein. Und Er nannte seinen Namen Israel.
11 And God says to him, “I [am] God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply, a nation and an assembly of nations is from you, and kings from your loins go out;
Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der Gott Schaddai; sei fruchtbar und mehre dich, eine Völkerschaft und eine Versammlung von Völkerschaften soll von dir werden, und Könige sollen von deinen Hüften hervorgehen.
12 and the land which I have given to Abraham and to Isaac—to you I give it, indeed to your seed after you I give the land.”
Und das Land, daß Ich Abraham und Isaak gegeben, werde Ich dir geben, und deinem Samen nach dir werde Ich das Land geben.
13 And God goes up from him, in the place where He has spoken with him.
Und Gott stieg von ihm auf an dem Ort, da Er mit ihm geredet hatte.
14 And Jacob sets up a standing pillar in the place where He has spoken with him, a standing pillar of stone, and he pours on it an oblation, and he pours on it oil;
Und Jakob stellte eine Denksäule auf an dem Orte, da er mit Ihm geredet, eine Denksäule von Stein, und spendete darauf ein Trankopfer und goß Öl darauf.
15 and Jacob calls the name of the place where God spoke with him Bethel.
Und Jakob nannte den Namen des Ortes, da Gott mit ihm geredet hatte, Bethel.
16 And they journey from Bethel, and there is yet a distance of land before entering Ephratha, and Rachel bears, and is sharply pained in her bearing;
Und von Bethel brachen sie auf, und es war noch eine Strecke Landes, bis man nach Ephratah kam, und Rachel gebar und litt Hartes bei der Geburt.
17 and it comes to pass, in her being sharply pained in her bearing, that the midwife says to her, “Do not fear, for this also [is] a son for you.”
Und es geschah, daß es ihr hart ward über der Geburt, da sprach die Wehmutter zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht, denn auch dies ist dir ein Sohn.
18 And it comes to pass in the going out of her soul (for she died), that she calls his name Ben-Oni; and his father called him Benjamin;
Und es geschah, da ihr die Seele ausging, daß sie am Sterben war, da nannte sie seinen Namen Benoni, sein Vater aber nannte ihn Benjamin.
19 and Rachel dies, and is buried in the way to Ephratha, which [is] Beth-Lehem,
Und Rachel starb und ward begraben auf dem Wege nach Ephratah, das ist Bethlehem.
20 and Jacob sets up a standing pillar over her grave; which [is] the standing pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.
Und Jakob stellte eine Denksäule über ihrem Grabe auf, das ist die Denksäule von Rachels Grab bis auf diesen Tag.
21 And Israel journeys, and stretches out his tent beyond the Tower of Edar;
Und Israel brach auf und schlug sein Zelt auf jenseits des Migdal Eder.
22 and it comes to pass in Israel’s dwelling in that land, that Reuben goes, and lies with his father’s concubine Bilhah; and Israel hears.
Und es geschah, da Israel in diesem Lande wohnte, da ging Ruben hin und lag bei Bilhah, dem Kebsweibe seines Vaters, und Israel hörte es. Jakob aber hatte zwölf Söhne.
23 And the sons of Jacob are twelve. Sons of Leah: Jacob’s firstborn Reuben, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
Die Söhne Leahs: Der Erstgeborene Jakobs: Ruben und Simeon, und Levi und Judah und Isaschar und Sebulun.
24 Sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
Die Söhne Rachels: Joseph und Benjamin.
25 And sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant: Dan and Naphtali.
Und die Söhne Bilhahs, der Dienstmagd Rachels: Dan und Naphthali.
26 And sons of Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant: Gad and Asher. These [are] sons of Jacob, who have been born to him in Padan-Aram.
Und die Söhne Silpahs, Leahs Dienstmagd: Gad und Ascher. Dies sind die Söhne Jakobs, die ihm in Padan Aram geboren wurden.
27 And Jacob comes to his father Isaac, at Mamre, the city of Arba (which [is] Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac have sojourned.
Und Jakob kam zu Isaak, seinem Vater, nach Mamre bei Kiriath Arba, das ist Chebron, woselbst Abraham und Isaak sich aufgehalten.
28 And the days of Isaac are one hundred and eighty years,
Und es waren Isaaks Tage hundert Jahre und achtzig Jahre.
29 and Isaac expires, and dies, and is gathered to his people, aged and satisfied with days; and his sons Esau and Jacob bury him.
Und Isaak verschied und starb und ward zu seinen Völkern versammelt, alt und an Tagen satt. Und es begruben ihn Esau und Jakob, seine Söhne.
