Genesis 34
1 And Dinah, daughter of Leah, whom she has borne to Jacob, goes out to look on the daughters of the land,
Diinaan intalli Liyaan Yaaqoobiif deesse sun dubartoota biyyattii ilaaluudhaaf gad baate.
2 and Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite, a prince of the land, sees her, and takes her, and lies with her, and humbles her;
Sheekem ilmi Hamoor namicha gosa Hiiwii kan bulchaa biyya sanaa ture ishee arge; innis qabee humnaan ishee gudeede.
3 and his soul cleaves to Dinah, daughter of Jacob, and he loves the young person, and speaks to the heart of the young person.
Qalbiin isaas Diinaa intala Yaaqoobiin fudhatame; innis ishee jaallatee afaan tolaa itti dubbate.
4 And Shechem speaks to his father Hamor, saying, “Take for me this girl for a wife.”
Sheekemis abbaa isaa Hamooriin, “Intala kana na fuusisi” jedhe.
5 And Jacob has heard that he has defiled his daughter Dinah, and his sons were with his livestock in the field, and Jacob kept silent until their coming.
Yaaqoob yommuu intalli isaa Diinaan akka gudeedamte dhagaʼetti, ilmaan isaa dirree irra horii tiksu turan; kanaafuu Yaaqoob hamma isaan galanitti ni calʼise.
6 And Hamor, father of Shechem, goes out to Jacob to speak with him;
Hamoor abbaan Sheekemis Yaaqoob wajjin dubbachuu dhaqe.
7 and the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard, and the men grieve themselves, and it [is] very displeasing to them, for folly he has done against Israel, to lie with the daughter of Jacob—and so it is not done.
Ilmaan Yaaqoobis akkuma waan uumame sana dhagaʼaniin dirreedhaa dhufan. Isaanis sababii Sheekem intala Yaaqoob wajjin ciisuudhaan Israaʼel keessatti waan jibbisiisaa hojjeteef ni gaddan; akka malees aaran.
8 And Hamor speaks with them, saying, “Shechem, my son, his soul has cleaved to your daughter; please give her to him for a wife,
Hamoor garuu akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Qalbiin ilma koo Sheekem intala keessan irra buʼeera. Maaloo isatti ishee heerumsiisaa.
9 and join in marriage with us; you give your daughters to us, and you take our daughters for yourselves,
Fuudhaa fi heerumaan walitti firoomnaa; intallan keessan nuu kennaa; intallan keenyas fuudhaa.
10 and you dwell with us, and the land is before you; dwell and trade [in] it, and have possessions in it.”
Nu wajjin jiraadhaa; biyyattiin fuula keessan dura jirti; keessa jiraadhaatii itti daldalaa; qabeenyas itti horadhaa.”
11 And Shechem says to her father and to her brothers, “Let me find grace in your eyes, and that which you say to me, I give;
Sheekemis abbaa Diinaatii fi obboloota isheetiin akkana jedhe; “Ani fuula keessan duratti fudhatama argannaan waanuma isin naan jettan isiniif nan kenna.
12 multiply on me dowry and gift exceedingly, and I give as you say to me, and give to me the young person for a wife.”
Isinis gabbara misirrittiitii fi kennaa ani fiduu qabu hamma feetan natti muraa; anis waan isin naan jettan nan baasa. Intalattii qofa natti heerumsiisaa.”
13 And the sons of Jacob answer Shechem and his father Hamor deceitfully, and they speak (because he defiled their sister Dinah),
Ilmaan Yaaqoob immoo waan Sheekem obboleettii isaanii Diinaa gudeedeef yeroo Sheekemii fi abbaa isaa Hamooriif deebii kennanitti haxxummaadhaan dubbatan.
14 and say to them, “We are not able to do this thing, to give our sister to one who has a foreskin, for it [is] a reproach to us.
Isaanis akkana isaaniin jedhan; “Nu waan akkanaa gochuu hin dandeenyu; nu nama dhagna hin qabatiniif intala keenya kennuu hin dandeenyu. Kun nuuf salphina.
15 Only for this we consent to you: if you are as we, to have every male of you circumcised,
Nu waan tokko qofaan tole isiniin jenna; kunis yoo isin dhiira keessan hunda dhagna qabdanii akkuma keenya taatanii dha.
16 then we have given our daughters to you, and we take your daughters for ourselves, and we have dwelt with you, and have become one people;
Ergasii nu intallan keenya isinii kennina; intallan keessan immoo ni fuuna. Gidduu keessan ni jiraanna; isin wajjinis saba tokko ni taana.
17 and if you do not listen to us to be circumcised, then we have taken our daughter, and have gone.”
Garuu yoo isin dhagna qabachuu diddan nu obboleettii keenya fudhannee deemna.”
18 And their words are good in the eyes of Hamor, and in the eyes of Shechem, Hamor’s son;
Dubbiin isaanii Hamoorii fi Sheekem ilma Hamoor ni gammachiise.
19 and the young man did not delay to do the thing, for he had delight in Jacob’s daughter, and he is honorable above all the house of his father.
Sheekem namoota mana abbaa isaa jiraatan hunda caalaa kabajamaa ture; inni sababii intala Yaaqoobitti gammadeef waan kana lafa irra hin harkifne;
20 And Hamor comes—his son Shechem also—to the gate of their city, and they speak to the men of their city, saying,
Hamoorii fi ilmi isaa Sheekem gara karra magaalaa isaanii dhufanii namoota magaalaa isaaniitiin akkana jedhan;
21 “These men are peaceable with us; then let them dwell in the land, and trade [in] it; and the land, behold, [is] wide before them; their daughters let us take to ourselves for wives, and our daughters give to them.
“Jarri kun nuuf warra nagaa ti; kanaafuu biyyattii keessa jiraatanii itti haa daldalatan. Biyyattiin isaaniif lafa balʼaa qabdi; nu intallan isaanii haa fuunu; isaanis intallan keenya haa fuudhan.
22 Only for this do the men consent to us, to dwell with us, to become one people, in every male of us being circumcised, as they are circumcised;
Garuu namoonni kunneen akka saba tokkootti nu wajjin jiraachuuf tole kan jedhan yoo dhiironni keenya akkuma isaanii dhagna qabatan qofa.
23 their livestock, and their substance, and all their beasts—are they not ours? Only let us consent to them, and they dwell with us.”
Loon isaanii, qabeenyi isaaniitii fi horiin isaanii kaan hundinuu kanuma keenya hin taʼanii? Kanaafuu kottaa tole isaaniin jennaa; isaanis nu wajjin ni jiraatu.”
24 And to Hamor, and to his son Shechem, do all those going out of the gate of his city listen, and every male is circumcised, all those going out of the gate of his city.
Namoonni karra magaalaa sanaatiin gad baʼan hundinuu Hamoorii fi ilma isaa Sheekemiin walii galan; dhiironni karra magaalaa sanaatiin gad baʼan hundinuus dhagna qabatan.
25 And it comes to pass, on the third day, in their being pained, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, take each his sword, and come in against the city confidently, and slay every male;
Guyyaa sadii booddee utuma isaan dhukkubsachaa jiranuu, ilmaan Yaaqoobii keessaa namni lama Simiʼoonii fi Lewwiin, obboloonni Diinaa, goraadee isaanii fudhatanii magaalaa homaa quba hin qabne sana dhaʼanii dhiira hunda ajjeesan.
26 and Hamor, and his son Shechem, they have slain by the mouth of the sword, and they take Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and go out.
Isaanis goraadeedhaan Hamoorii fi ilma isaa Sheekemin ajjeesanii Diinaa immoo mana Sheekemiitii fudhatanii qajeelan.
27 Jacob’s sons have come in on the wounded, and they spoil the city, because they had defiled their sister;
Ilmaan Yaaqoobis reeffawwan irra darbanii magaalaa obboleettiin isaanii itti gudeedamte sana saaman.
28 their flock and their herd, and their donkeys, and that which [is] in the city, and that which [is] in the field, have they taken;
Isaanis bushaayee isaanii, loon isaanii, harroota isaaniitii fi waan isaan magaalaa keessaa fi alaa qaban hunda fudhatan.
29 and all their wealth, and all their infants, and their wives they have taken captive, and they spoil also all that [is] in the house.
Qabeenya isaanii hunda, dubartootaa fi ijoollee isaanii hunda fudhatanii deeman; waan mana keessa jiru hundas ni boojiʼan.
30 And Jacob says to Simeon and to Levi, “You have troubled me, by causing me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanite, and among the Perizzite: and I [am] few in number, and they have been gathered against me, and have struck me, and I have been destroyed, I and my house.”
Yaaqoobis Simiʼoonii fi Lewwiidhaan akkana jedhe; “Isin akka ani Kanaʼaanotaa fi Feerzota biyya kana jiraatanitti xireeffatamu gochuudhaan rakkoo natti fiddan. Nu baayʼinaan xinnoo dha; yoo isaan humna walitti dabalatanii na lolan anii fi warri mana koo hundinuu ni dhumna.”
31 And they say, “Does he make our sister as a harlot?”
Isaan garuu, “Yoos inni akkuma sagaagaltuu tokkootti obboleettii keenyatti haa taphatuu ree?” jedhanii deebisan.
