< Genesis 34 >
1 And Dinah, daughter of Leah, whom she has borne to Jacob, goes out to look on the daughters of the land,
Alò, Dina, fi Léa te fè pou Jacob la te sòti pou vizite fi peyi yo nan kote sa a.
2 and Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite, a prince of the land, sees her, and takes her, and lies with her, and humbles her;
Lè Sichem, fis Hamor a, Evyen an, prens nan peyi a te wè li, li te pran li, e pa lafòs, li te kouche avèk li.
3 and his soul cleaves to Dinah, daughter of Jacob, and he loves the young person, and speaks to the heart of the young person.
4 And Shechem speaks to his father Hamor, saying, “Take for me this girl for a wife.”
Alò, Sichem te pale avèk papa l Hamor. Li te di: “Fè m jwenn jèn fi sa a pou madanm.”
5 And Jacob has heard that he has defiled his daughter Dinah, and his sons were with his livestock in the field, and Jacob kept silent until their coming.
Alò, Jacob te tande ke li te vyole Dina, fi li a, men fis li yo te avèk bèt yo nan chan an. Alò, li te rete san pale jis lè yo te vin antre.
6 And Hamor, father of Shechem, goes out to Jacob to speak with him;
Hamor, papa a Sichem, te vin deyò a pou pale avèk li.
7 and the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard, and the men grieve themselves, and it [is] very displeasing to them, for folly he has done against Israel, to lie with the daughter of Jacob—and so it is not done.
Alò, fis a Jacob yo te sòti nan chan an lè yo te tande koze sa a. Konsa, mesye yo te blese. Yo te vin byen fache, akoz ke li te fè yon choz meprizab an Israël lè li te kouche avèk fi Jacob la, paske yon bagay konsa pa t dwe fèt.
8 And Hamor speaks with them, saying, “Shechem, my son, his soul has cleaved to your daughter; please give her to him for a wife,
Men Hamor te pale avèk yo. Li te di: “Nanm fis mwen an, Sichem anvi fi ou a anpil. Pou sa, silvouplè, ba li li pou yo marye.
9 and join in marriage with us; you give your daughters to us, and you take our daughters for yourselves,
Annou marye yo youn pou lòt. Bay fi ou yo a nou menm, e pran fi nou yo pou ou menm.
10 and you dwell with us, and the land is before you; dwell and trade [in] it, and have possessions in it.”
Konsa, ou va viv avèk nou, e peyi a va vin ouvri devan nou. Viv ladann, e fè afè nou yo ladann.”
11 And Shechem says to her father and to her brothers, “Let me find grace in your eyes, and that which you say to me, I give;
Sichem te di osi a papa ak frè a Dina, “Kite mwen twouve favè nan zye nou. Konsa, mwen va bannou nenpòt sa ke nou mande m.
12 multiply on me dowry and gift exceedingly, and I give as you say to me, and give to me the young person for a wife.”
Mande m tan kòm pèyman avèk kado, e mwen va bannou nenpòt sa nou mande mwen, men ban mwen fi a pou marye.”
13 And the sons of Jacob answer Shechem and his father Hamor deceitfully, and they speak (because he defiled their sister Dinah),
Konsa, fis Jacob yo te reponn Sichem avèk papa li Hamor avèk desepsyon, akoz ke li te vyole Dina, sè yo a.
14 and say to them, “We are not able to do this thing, to give our sister to one who has a foreskin, for it [is] a reproach to us.
Yo te di yo: “Nou pa kapab fè bagay sa a, pou bay sè nou an a yon moun ki pa sikonsi. Sa ta yon wont pou nou tout.
15 Only for this we consent to you: if you are as we, to have every male of you circumcised,
Sou yon sèl kondisyon nou ta kapab dakò: si nou va vini tankou nou.
16 then we have given our daughters to you, and we take your daughters for ourselves, and we have dwelt with you, and have become one people;
Konsa, nou va bay sè nou yo a nou menm, nou va viv avèk nou e vin yon sèl pèp.
17 and if you do not listen to us to be circumcised, then we have taken our daughter, and have gone.”
Men si nou pa koute nou pou vin sikonsi, alò, n ap pran sè nou an e ale.”
18 And their words are good in the eyes of Hamor, and in the eyes of Shechem, Hamor’s son;
Alò, pawòl pa yo a te parèt rezonab a Hamor avèk Sichem, fis Hamor a.
19 and the young man did not delay to do the thing, for he had delight in Jacob’s daughter, and he is honorable above all the house of his father.
20 And Hamor comes—his son Shechem also—to the gate of their city, and they speak to the men of their city, saying,
Konsa, Hamor, avèk fis li a, Sichem te vini nan pòtay vil yo, li te pale avèk mesye nan vil yo, e li te di:
21 “These men are peaceable with us; then let them dwell in the land, and trade [in] it; and the land, behold, [is] wide before them; their daughters let us take to ourselves for wives, and our daughters give to them.
“Moun sa yo se zanmi nou yo ye; pou sa, annou kite yo viv nan peyi a pou fè komès ladann, paske, gade byen, peyi a ase gran pou yo. Annou pran fi yo an maryaj, e bay fi nou yo a yo menm.
22 Only for this do the men consent to us, to dwell with us, to become one people, in every male of us being circumcised, as they are circumcised;
“Se sèl sou kondisyon sa a ke moun sa yo va vin dakò pou vin viv avèk nou, pou vin yon sèl pèp; ke chak mal pami nou vin sikonsi tankou yo menm tou deja sikonsi a.
23 their livestock, and their substance, and all their beasts—are they not ours? Only let us consent to them, and they dwell with us.”
24 And to Hamor, and to his son Shechem, do all those going out of the gate of his city listen, and every male is circumcised, all those going out of the gate of his city.
25 And it comes to pass, on the third day, in their being pained, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, take each his sword, and come in against the city confidently, and slay every male;
Alò, li te rive nan twazyèm jou a, lè yo te nan doulè, de nan fis a Jacob yo, Siméon avèk Lévi, frè a Dina yo, yo chak te pran nepe yo. Yo te vini sou vil la san yo pa konnen, e yo te touye tout mal yo.
26 and Hamor, and his son Shechem, they have slain by the mouth of the sword, and they take Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and go out.
Yo te touye Hamor avèk fis li a, Sichem, avèk lam file a nepe yo. Yo te pran Dina soti lakay Sichem nan, e yo te ale.
27 Jacob’s sons have come in on the wounded, and they spoil the city, because they had defiled their sister;
Fis Jacob yo te vini sou mò yo. Yo te piyaje vil la akoz ke yo te vyole sè yo a.
28 their flock and their herd, and their donkeys, and that which [is] in the city, and that which [is] in the field, have they taken;
29 and all their wealth, and all their infants, and their wives they have taken captive, and they spoil also all that [is] in the house.
30 And Jacob says to Simeon and to Levi, “You have troubled me, by causing me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanite, and among the Perizzite: and I [am] few in number, and they have been gathered against me, and have struck me, and I have been destroyed, I and my house.”
Alò Jacob te di a Siméon avèk Lévi: “Nou vin pote pwoblèm pou mwen akoz ke nou fè m vin rayi pa abitan peyi yo, pami Kananeyen avèk Ferezyen yo. Epi akoz ke gason nou yo pa anpil, yo va rasanble kont mwen, pou atake mwen, e mwen va vin detwi, mwen menm avèk tout lakay mwen.”
31 And they say, “Does he make our sister as a harlot?”
Men yo te di: “Èske yo ta dwe trete sè nou an tankou yon pwostitiye?”
