Genesis 30

1 And Rachel sees that she has not borne to Jacob, and Rachel is envious of her sister, and says to Jacob, “Give me sons, and if there is none—I die.”

താൻ യാക്കോബിനു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നുകണ്ടപ്പോൾ റാഹേലിന് സഹോദരിയോട് അസൂയയുണ്ടായി. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൾ യാക്കോബിനോട്, “എനിക്കു കുട്ടികളെ തരിക, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ മരിച്ചുപോകും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2 And Jacob’s anger burns against Rachel, and he says, “Am I in stead of God who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”

യാക്കോബ് കോപിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് അവളോട്, “നിനക്കു കുട്ടികളെ തരാതിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തോ ഞാൻ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

3 And she says, “Behold, my handmaid Bilhah, go in to her, and she bears on my knees, and I am built up, even I, from her”;

അപ്പോൾ അവൾ, “ഇതാ എന്റെ ദാസിയായ ബിൽഹാ, അവളുടെയടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുക; അവൾ എനിക്കായി കുട്ടികളെ പ്രസവിക്കയും അവളിലൂടെ എനിക്കു കുടുംബം കെട്ടിപ്പടുക്കാൻ സാധിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 and she gives Bilhah her maidservant to him for a wife, and Jacob goes in to her;

അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൾ തന്റെ ദാസിയായ ബിൽഹയെ യാക്കോബിനു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു. യാക്കോബ് അവളുടെയടുത്ത് ചെന്നു.

5 and Bilhah conceives, and bears a son to Jacob,

ബിൽഹ ഗർഭംധരിച്ച് യാക്കോബിന് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

6 and Rachel says, “God has decided for me, and has also listened to my voice, and gives a son to me”; therefore she has called his name Dan.

അപ്പോൾ റാഹേൽ, “ദൈവം എന്നെ കുറ്റവിമുക്തയാക്കി, എന്റെ പ്രാർഥനകേട്ട് എനിക്ക് ഒരു മകനെ തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൾ അവന് ദാൻ എന്നു പേരുവിളിച്ചു.

7 And Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant, conceives again, and bears a second son to Jacob,

റാഹേലിന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹാ വീണ്ടും ഗർഭംധരിച്ച് യാക്കോബിനു രണ്ടാമതൊരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

8 and Rachel says, “With wrestlings of God I have wrestled with my sister, indeed, I have prevailed”; and she calls his name Napthali.

“എന്റെ സഹോദരിയോട് എനിക്കു കടുത്ത മത്സരം വേണ്ടിവന്നു; അതിൽ ഞാൻ വിജയിച്ചു,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൾ അവന് നഫ്താലി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

9 And Leah sees that she has ceased from bearing, and she takes Zilpah her maidservant, and gives her to Jacob for a wife;

തനിക്ക് ഇനി കുട്ടികൾ ഉണ്ടാകുകയില്ല എന്നുകണ്ട് ലേയാ അവളുടെ ദാസിയായ സിൽപ്പയെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്ന് അവന് ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

10 and Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant, bears a son to Jacob,

ലേയയുടെ ദാസി സിൽപ്പ യാക്കോബിന് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

11 and Leah says, “A troop is coming”; and she calls his name Gad.

“ഞാൻ എത്ര ഭാഗ്യവതി!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവൾ അവന് ഗാദ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

12 And Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant, bears a second son to Jacob,

ലേയയുടെ ദാസിയായ സിൽപ്പ യാക്കോബിനു രണ്ടാമതും ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

13 and Leah says, “Because of my happiness, for daughters have pronounced me blessed”; and she calls his name Asher.

അപ്പോൾ അവൾ, “ഞാൻ എത്ര സന്തുഷ്ട! സ്ത്രീകൾ എന്നെ സന്തുഷ്ട എന്നു വിളിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൾ അവന് ആശേർ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

14 And Reuben goes in the days of wheat-harvest, and finds love-apples in the field, and brings them to his mother Leah, and Rachel says to Leah, “Please give to me of the love-apples of your son.”

ഗോതമ്പുകൊയ്ത്തിന്റെ കാലത്ത് രൂബേൻ വയലിലേക്കുപോയി, കുറെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കണ്ടെത്തി. അവൻ അതു തന്റെ അമ്മയായ ലേയയ്ക്കു കൊടുത്തു. അപ്പോൾ റാഹേൽ ലേയായോട്, “നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴത്തിൽ കുറച്ച് എനിക്കു തരാമോ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

15 And she says to her, “Is your taking my husband a little thing, that you have also taken the love-apples of my son?” And Rachel says, “He therefore lies with you tonight, for your son’s love-apples.”

എന്നാൽ ലേയാ അവളോട്, “നീ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിനെ തട്ടിയെടുത്തതു പോരയോ? ഇനി എന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴംകൂടി എടുക്കുമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “എങ്കിൽ നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴത്തിനു പ്രതിഫലമായി അദ്ദേഹം ഈ രാത്രി നിന്നോടൊത്തു കിടക്കപങ്കിടട്ടെ,” റാഹേൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

16 And Jacob comes in from the field at evening; and Leah goes to meet him and says, “You come in to me, for [in] hiring I have hired you with my son’s love-apples”; and he lies with her during that night.

അന്നു വൈകുന്നേരം യാക്കോബ് വയലിൽനിന്ന് വന്നപ്പോൾ ലേയാ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വരവേൽക്കാൻ ചെന്നു; “ഇന്ന് എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരണം. എന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കൊടുത്തു ഞാൻ അങ്ങയെ കൂലിക്കെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു. ആ രാത്രിയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം അവളോടുകൂടെ കിടക്കപങ്കിട്ടു.

17 And God listens to Leah, and she conceives, and bears a son to Jacob, a fifth,

ദൈവം ലേയായുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു; അവൾ ഗർഭിണിയായി യാക്കോബിന്റെ അഞ്ചാമത്തെ മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

18 and Leah says, “God has given my hire, because I have given my maidservant to my husband”; and she calls his name Issachar.

അപ്പോൾ ലേയാ, “എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിന് എന്റെ ദാസിയെ കൊടുത്തതുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവം എനിക്കു പ്രതിഫലം തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൾ അവന് യിസ്സാഖാർ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

19 And Leah conceives again, and she bears a sixth son to Jacob,

ലേയാ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭംധരിച്ച് യാക്കോബിന് ആറാമതൊരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

20 and Leah says, “God has endowed me—a good dowry; this time my husband dwells with me, for I have borne six sons to him”; and she calls his name Zebulun;

“ദൈവം എനിക്കൊരു അമൂല്യസമ്മാനം തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിന് ആറു പുത്രന്മാരെ പ്രസവിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹം എന്നെ ഇപ്പോൾ ആദരിക്കും,” എന്നു ലേയാ പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവന് അവൾ സെബൂലൂൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

21 and afterward she has borne a daughter, and calls her name Dinah.

കുറെക്കാലത്തിനുശേഷം അവൾ ഒരു മകളെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവൾക്കു ദീനാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

22 And God remembers Rachel, and God listens to her, and opens her womb,

അപ്പോൾ ദൈവം റാഹേലിനെ ഓർത്തു. അവിടന്ന് അവളുടെ അപേക്ഷകേട്ട് അവളുടെ ഗർഭം തുറന്നു.

23 and she conceives and bears a son, and says, “God has gathered up my reproach”;

അവൾ ഗർഭിണിയായി ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ അവൾ, “ദൈവം എന്റെ അപമാനം നീക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24 and she calls his name Joseph, saying, “YHWH is adding to me another son.”

“യഹോവ എനിക്കു മറ്റൊരു മകനെക്കൂടി തരുമാറാകട്ടെ,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവൾ അവന് യോസേഫ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

25 And it comes to pass, when Rachel has borne Joseph, that Jacob says to Laban, “Send me away, and I go to my place, and to my land;

റാഹേൽ യോസേഫിനെ പ്രസവിച്ചതിനുശേഷം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോട്, “എനിക്ക് സ്വന്തം ദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങണം; അങ്ങ് എന്നെ യാത്രയാക്കിയാലും.

26 give up my wives and my children, for whom I have served you, and I go; for you have known my service which I have served you.”

എന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും മക്കളെയും എനിക്കു തരണം; അവർക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണല്ലോ ഞാൻ അങ്ങയെ സേവിച്ചത്! ഞാൻ യാത്രയായിക്കോട്ടെ. ഞാൻ അങ്ങേക്കുവേണ്ടി എത്രമാത്രം അധ്വാനിച്ചു എന്ന് അങ്ങേക്ക് അറിയാമല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27 And Laban says to him, “Now if I have found grace in your eyes—I have observed diligently that YHWH blesses me for your sake.”

എന്നാൽ ലാബാൻ യാക്കോബിനോട്, “നിനക്ക് എന്നോടു പ്രീതിയുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ദയവുചെയ്ത് ഇവിടെ താമസിക്കുക. നീ നിമിത്തം യഹോവ എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചെന്ന് ഞാൻ പ്രശ്നംവെച്ചതിലൂടെ സ്പഷ്ടമായി അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28 He also says, “Define your hire to me, and I give.”

“നിനക്ക് എന്തു ശമ്പളം വേണമെന്നു പറയുക, ഞാൻ അതു തരാം,” എന്നും ലാബാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

29 And he says to him, “You have known that which I have served you [in], and that which your substance was with me;

അതിന് യാക്കോബ് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്, “ഞാൻ അങ്ങേക്കുവേണ്ടി എങ്ങനെ പണിയെടുത്തെന്നും എന്റെ മേൽനോട്ടത്തിൽ അങ്ങയുടെ ആടുമാടുകൾ എത്ര പെരുകിയെന്നും അങ്ങേക്ക് അറിയാമല്ലോ.

30 for [it is] little which you have had at my appearance, and it breaks forth into a multitude, and YHWH blesses you at my coming; and now, when do I make, I also, for my own house?”

ഞാൻ വരുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് അൽപ്പംമാത്രം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത് ഇപ്പോൾ അത്യധികം വർധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ ആയിരുന്നേടത്തെല്ലാം യഹോവ അങ്ങയെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്നാൽ, എന്റെ സ്വന്തം കുടുംബത്തിനുവേണ്ടി ഞാൻ ഇനി എപ്പോഴാണു വല്ലതും കരുതുന്നത്?”

31 And he says, “What do I give to you?” And Jacob says, “You do not give me anything; if you do this thing for me, I turn back; I have delight; I watch your flock;

“ഞാൻ നിനക്ക് എന്തു തരണം?” ലാബാൻ ചോദിച്ചു. “എനിക്ക് ഒന്നും തരേണ്ടതില്ല,” യാക്കോബ് പറഞ്ഞു. “എന്നാൽ, എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി ഒരു കാര്യം ചെയ്യുമെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ അങ്ങയുടെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റങ്ങളെ മേയിക്കുകയും സൂക്ഷിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യാം.

32 I pass through all your flock today to turn aside every speckled and spotted sheep from there, and every brown sheep among the lambs, and speckled and spotted among the goats—and it has been my hire;

ഇന്നു ഞാൻ അങ്ങയുടെ എല്ലാ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റങ്ങളുടെയും ഇടയിലൂടെ നടന്ന് പുള്ളിയും മറുകും ഉള്ള ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളെയും കറുപ്പുനിറമുള്ള എല്ലാ ചെമ്മരിയാട്ടിൻകുട്ടികളെയും പുള്ളിയും മറുകുമുള്ള കോലാടുകളെയും വേർതിരിക്കും; അവ എനിക്കുള്ള പ്രതിഫലമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

33 and my righteousness has answered for me in the day to come, when it comes in for my hire before your face—everyone which is not speckled and spotted among [my] goats, and brown among [my] lambs—it is stolen with me.”

ഭാവിയിൽ അങ്ങ് എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം പരിശോധിക്കുമ്പോൾ എന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തത അങ്ങേക്കു ബോധ്യമാകും. എന്റെപക്കൽ പുള്ളിയോ മറുകോ ഇല്ലാത്ത കോലാടോ കറുപ്പുനിറമില്ലാത്ത ആട്ടിൻകുട്ടിയോ കണ്ടാൽ അതിനെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചതായി കണക്കാക്കാം.”

34 And Laban says, “Behold, O that it were according to your word”;

അപ്പോൾ ലാബാൻ, “ഇത് എനിക്കു സമ്മതം; നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35 and he turns aside during that day the striped and the spotted male goats, and all the speckled and the spotted female goats, everyone that [has] white in it, and every brown one among the lambs, and he gives into the hand of his sons,

ആ ദിവസംതന്നെ ലാബാൻ വരയും മറുകും ഉള്ള കോലാട്ടുകൊറ്റന്മാരെയും പുള്ളിയും മറുകും ഉള്ള പെൺകോലാടുകളെയും വെള്ളനിറമുള്ള എല്ലാറ്റിനെയും കറുപ്പുനിറമുള്ള ചെമ്മരിയാട്ടിൻകുട്ടികളെയും വേർതിരിച്ചു തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ പക്കൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു.

36 and sets a journey of three days between himself and Jacob; and Jacob is feeding the rest of the flock of Laban.

പിന്നെ ലാബാൻ തനിക്കും യാക്കോബിനും മധ്യേ മൂന്നുദിവസത്തെ വഴിയകലം വെച്ചു. ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളിൽ ശേഷിച്ചവയെ യാക്കോബ് തുടർന്നും മേയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

37 And Jacob takes to himself a rod of fresh poplar and almond and plane-tree, and peels in them white peelings, making bare the white that [is] on the rods,

യാക്കോബ് പുന്നമരത്തിന്റെയും ബദാംമരത്തിന്റെയും അരിഞ്ഞിൽമരത്തിന്റെയും പച്ചക്കൊമ്പുകൾ എടുത്ത് അവയുടെ അകം വെള്ളവരയായി കാണത്തക്കവണ്ണം തൊലിയുരിച്ചു.

38 and sets up the rods which he has peeled in the gutters in the watering troughs (where the flock comes to drink), in front of the flock, that they may conceive in their coming to drink;

പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം, ഇങ്ങനെ തൊലിയുരിച്ച കൊമ്പുകൾ, ആടുകൾ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കാൻ വരുമ്പോൾ അവയ്ക്ക് നേരേ കാണത്തക്കവണ്ണം, വെള്ളം നിറയ്ക്കുന്ന തൊട്ടികളിലും പാത്തികളിലും വെച്ചു.

39 and the flocks conceive at the rods, and the flock bears striped, speckled, and spotted ones.

ആടുകൾ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ ആ കൊമ്പുകൾക്കു മുന്നിൽവെച്ച് ഇണചേർന്നു; അവ വരയും പുള്ളിയും മറുകും ഉള്ള കുട്ടികളെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

40 And Jacob has parted the lambs, and he puts the face of the flock toward the striped, also all the brown in the flock of Laban, and he sets his own droves by themselves, and has not set them near Laban’s flock.

യാക്കോബ് ആ ആട്ടിൻകുട്ടികളെ ലാബാന്റെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തിൽനിന്ന് വേർതിരിച്ചു; ശേഷമുള്ളവ ഇണചേരുമ്പോൾ ലാബാന്റെവക വരയും കറുപ്പുമുള്ള ആടുകൾക്ക് അഭിമുഖമായി നിർത്തി. ഇങ്ങനെ യാക്കോബ് തനിക്കു സ്വന്തമായി ആട്ടിൻപറ്റങ്ങളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; അവയെ ലാബാന്റെ കൂട്ടങ്ങളോടു ചേർത്തില്ല.

41 And it has come to pass, whenever the strong ones of the flock conceive, that Jacob sets the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, to cause them to conceive by the rods,

കരുത്തുള്ള ആടുകൾ ഇണചേരുമ്പോൾ അവ ആ മരക്കൊമ്പുകൾ കണ്ട് ചനയേൽക്കേണ്ടതിന് യാക്കോബ് അവ തൊട്ടികളിൽവെച്ചു.

42 and when the flock is feeble, he does not set [them]; and the feeble ones have been Laban’s, and the strong ones Jacob’s.

കരുത്തുകുറഞ്ഞവയുടെ മുമ്പിൽ കൊമ്പുകൾ വെച്ചിരുന്നില്ല. ഇങ്ങനെ കരുത്തില്ലാത്തവ ലാബാനും കരുത്തുള്ളവ യാക്കോബിനും ആയിത്തീർന്നു.

43 And the man increases very exceedingly, and has many flocks, and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and donkeys.

യാക്കോബ് ഈ വിധത്തിൽ മഹാധനികനായി. വലിയ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റങ്ങളും ധാരാളം ദാസീദാസന്മാരും ഒട്ടകങ്ങളും കഴുതകളും അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു സ്വന്തമായി.
