Genesis 29
1 And Jacob lifts up his feet, and goes toward the land of the sons of the east;
Potem je Jakob odšel na svoje potovanje in prišel v deželo vzhodnega ljudstva.
2 and he looks, and behold, a well in the field, and behold, there [are] three droves of a flock crouching by it, for they water the droves from that well, and the great stone [is] on the mouth of the well.
Pogledal je in na polju zagledal izvir in glej, tam so bili trije tropi ovac, ležeč pri njem, kajti iz tega izvira so napajali trope. Na vodnjakovih ustih pa je bil velik kamen.
3 (When all the droves have been gathered there, and they have rolled the stone from off the mouth of the well, and have watered the flock, then they have turned back the stone on the mouth of the well to its place.)
Tja so se zbirali vsi tropi in odvalili so kamen iz vodnjakovih ust, napojili ovce in kamen ponovno položili na vodnjakova usta, na njegovo mesto.
4 And Jacob says to them, “My brothers, where [are] you from?” And they say, “We [are] from Haran.”
Jakob jim je rekel: »Moji bratje, od kod ste?« Odgovorili so: »Iz Harána smo.«
5 And he says to them, “Have you known Laban, son of Nahor?” And they say, “We have known.”
Rekel jim je: »Poznate Nahórjevega sina Labána?« Rekli so: »Poznamo ga.«
6 And he says to them, “Does he have peace?” And they say, “Peace; and behold, his daughter Rachel is coming with the flock.”
Rekel jim je: »Ali je zdrav?« Rekli so: »Zdrav je in glej, njegova hči Rahela prihaja z ovcami.«
7 And he says, “Behold, the day [is] still great, [it is] not time for the livestock to be gathered; water the flock, and go, delight yourselves.”
Rekel je: »Glej, še dolg dan je niti ni čas, da bi se živina zbrala skupaj. Napojite ovce in odženite jih past.«
8 And they say, “We are not able, until all the droves be gathered together, and they have rolled away the stone from the mouth of the well, and we have watered the flock.”
Rekli so: »Ne moremo, dokler se ne zberejo vsi tropi in dokler kamna ne odvalijo iz vodnjakovih ust. Potem napojimo ovce.«
9 He is yet speaking with them, and Rachel has come with the flock which her father has, for she [is] shepherdess;
Medtem ko je še govoril z njimi, je prišla Rahela z ovcami svojega očeta, kajti ona jih je varovala.
10 and it comes to pass, when Jacob has seen Rachel, daughter of his mother’s brother Laban, and the flock of his mother’s brother Laban, that Jacob comes near and rolls the stone from off the mouth of the well, and waters the flock of his mother’s brother Laban.
Pripetilo se je, ko je Jakob opazil Rahelo, hčer materinega brata Labána in ovce materinega brata Labána, da se je Jakob približal in odvalil kamen od vodnjakovih ust in napojil trop Labána, brata svoje matere.
11 And Jacob kisses Rachel, and lifts up his voice, and weeps,
Jakob je poljubil Rahelo in povzdignil svoj glas in zajokal.
12 and Jacob declares to Rachel that he [is] her father’s brother, and that he [is] Rebekah’s son, and she runs and declares [it] to her father.
Jakob je Raheli povedal, da je brat njenega očeta in da je Rebekin sin. In ta je stekla ter povedala svojemu očetu.
13 And it comes to pass, when Laban hears the report of his sister’s son Jacob, that he runs to meet him, and embraces him, and kisses him, and brings him into his house; and he recounts to Laban all these things,
Pripetilo se je, ko je Labán slišal te novice o Jakobu, sinu svoje sestre, da je stekel, da ga sreča, ga objel, poljubil in privedel k svoji hiši. In Labánu je povedal vse te stvari.
14 and Laban says to him, “You [are] surely my bone and my flesh”; and he dwells with him a month of days.
In Labán mu je rekel: »Zagotovo si moja kost in moje meso.« In z njim je ostal čas enega meseca.
15 And Laban says to Jacob, “Is it because you [are] my brother that you have served me for nothing? Declare to me what your hire [is].”
Labán je rekel Jakobu: »Ker si moj brat, zakaj bi mi služil zaman? Povej mi kakšna naj bodo tvoja plačila?«
16 And Laban has two daughters, the name of the older [is] Leah, and the name of the younger Rachel,
Labán pa je imel dve hčeri. Starejši je bilo ime Lea, ime mlajše pa je bilo Rahela.
17 and the eyes of Leah [are] tender, and Rachel has been beautiful of form and beautiful of appearance.
Lea je bila nežnih oči, toda Rahela je bila krasna in lepega videza.
18 And Jacob loves Rachel and says, “I serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter”:
Jakob pa je ljubil Rahelo in rekel: »Sedem let ti bom služil za Rahelo, tvojo mlajšo hčer.«
19 and Laban says, “It is better for me to give her to you than to give her to another man; dwell with me”;
Labán je rekel: »Bolje je to, da jo dam tebi, kakor da bi jo dal kateremukoli drugemu moškemu. Ostani z menoj.«
20 and Jacob serves for Rachel seven years; and they are in his eyes as some days, because of his loving her.
Jakob je sedem let služil za Rahelo in zdela so se mu [kot] le nekaj dni, zaradi ljubezni, ki jo je imel do nje.
21 And Jacob says to Laban, “Give up my wife, for my days have been fulfilled, and I go in to her”;
Jakob je rekel Labánu: »Daj mi mojo ženo, kajti moji dnevi so dopolnjeni, da lahko grem noter vanjo.«
22 and Laban gathers all the men of the place, and makes a banquet.
Labán je zbral skupaj vse može tega kraja in priredil gostijo.
23 And it comes to pass in the evening, that he takes his daughter Leah, and brings her to him, and he goes in to her;
Pripetilo pa se je zvečer, da je vzel svojo hčer Leo in jo privedel k njemu in on je šel noter k njej.
24 and Laban gives his maidservant Zilpah to her, to his daughter Leah, [for] a maidservant.
In Labán je svoji hčeri Lei za pomočnico dal svojo služabnico Zilpo.
25 And it comes to pass in the morning, that behold, it [is] Leah; and he says to Laban, “What [is] this you have done to me? Have I not served with you for Rachel? And why have you deceived me?”
Pripetilo se je zjutraj, glej, to je bila Lea, in Labánu je rekel: »Kaj je to, kar si mi storil? Ali nisem s teboj služil za Rahelo? Zakaj si me potem preslepil?«
26 And Laban says, “It is not done so in our place, to give the younger before the firstborn;
Labán je rekel: »V naši deželi se ne sme tako storiti, da se mlajšo izroči pred prvorojeno.
27 fulfill the period of seven [for] this one, and we also give to you this one, for the service which you serve with me yet seven other years.”
Dopolni njen teden in dali ti bomo tudi njo, za službo, ki jo boš služil z menoj še drugih sedem let.«
28 And Jacob does so, and fulfills the period of seven [for] this one, and he gives his daughter Rachel to him for a wife for him;
Jakob je storil tako in dopolnil njen teden, on pa mu je dal tudi svojo hčer Rahelo za ženo.
29 and Laban gives his maidservant Bilhah to his daughter Rachel for a maidservant for her.
Labán je svoji hčeri Raheli dal svojo pomočnico Bilho, da postane njena služabnica.
30 And he also goes in to Rachel, and he also loves Rachel more than Leah; and he serves with him yet seven other years.
Odšel je tudi k Raheli in Rahelo je ljubil bolj kakor Leo in pri njem je služil še drugih sedem let.
31 And YHWH sees that Leah [is] the hated one, and He opens her womb, and Rachel [is] barren;
Ko je Gospod videl, da je bila Lea osovražena, je odprl njeno maternico, toda Rahela je bila jalova.
32 and Leah conceives, and bears a son, and calls his name Reuben, for she said, “Because YHWH has looked on my affliction; because now does my husband love me.”
Lea je spočela, rodila sina in njegovo ime imenovala Ruben, kajti rekla je: »Zagotovo je Gospod pogledal na mojo stisko. Sedaj me bo torej moj soprog ljubil.«
33 And she conceives again, and bears a son, and says, “Because YHWH has heard that I [am] the hated one, He also gives to me even this [one]”; and she calls his name Simeon.
Ponovno je spočela in rodila sina ter rekla: »Ker je Gospod slišal, da sem bila osovražena, mi je zato dal tudi tega sina, « in njegovo ime je imenovala Simeon.
34 And she conceives again and bears a son, and says, “Now [is] the time, my husband is joined to me, because I have born to him three sons,” therefore has [one] called his name Levi.
Ponovno je spočela in rodila sina in rekla: »Torej tokrat bo moj soprog pridružen k meni, ker sem mu rodila tri sinove, « zato je bilo njegovo ime imenovano Lévi.
35 And she conceives again and bears a son, and this time says, “I praise YHWH”; therefore has she called his name Judah; and she ceases from bearing.
Ponovno je spočela in rodila sina in rekla: »Sedaj bom hvalila Gospoda, « zato je njegovo ime poimenovala Juda; in prenehala je rojevati.
