Genesis 29
1 And Jacob lifts up his feet, and goes toward the land of the sons of the east;
Και εκίνησεν ο Ιακώβ και υπήγεν εις την γην των κατοίκων της ανατολής.
2 and he looks, and behold, a well in the field, and behold, there [are] three droves of a flock crouching by it, for they water the droves from that well, and the great stone [is] on the mouth of the well.
Και είδε, και ιδού, φρέαρ εν τη πεδιάδι και ιδού, εκεί τρία ποίμνια προβάτων αναπαυόμενα πλησίον αυτού, διότι εκ του φρέατος εκείνου επότιζον τα ποίμνια· λίθος δε μέγας ήτο επί το στόμιον του φρέατος.
3 (When all the droves have been gathered there, and they have rolled the stone from off the mouth of the well, and have watered the flock, then they have turned back the stone on the mouth of the well to its place.)
Και ότε συνήγοντο εκεί πάντα τα ποίμνια, απεκύλιον τον λίθον από του στομίου του φρέατος, και επότιζον τα ποίμνια· έπειτα έθετον πάλιν τον λίθον επί το στόμιον του φρέατος εις τον τόπον αυτού.
4 And Jacob says to them, “My brothers, where [are] you from?” And they say, “We [are] from Haran.”
Και είπε προς αυτούς ο Ιακώβ, Αδελφοί, πόθεν είσθε; Οι δε είπον, Εκ της Χαρράν είμεθα.
5 And he says to them, “Have you known Laban, son of Nahor?” And they say, “We have known.”
Και είπε προς αυτούς, Γνωρίζετε Λάβαν τον υιόν του Ναχώρ; οι δε είπον, Γνωρίζομεν.
6 And he says to them, “Does he have peace?” And they say, “Peace; and behold, his daughter Rachel is coming with the flock.”
Και είπε προς αυτούς, Υγιαίνει; Οι δε είπον, Υγιαίνει· και ιδού, Ραχήλ η θυγάτηρ αυτού έρχεται μετά των προβάτων.
7 And he says, “Behold, the day [is] still great, [it is] not time for the livestock to be gathered; water the flock, and go, delight yourselves.”
Και είπεν, Ιδού, μένει ακόμη ημέρα πολλή, δεν είναι ώρα να συρθώσι τα κτήνη· ποτίσατε τα πρόβατα και υπάγετε να βοσκήσητε αυτά.
8 And they say, “We are not able, until all the droves be gathered together, and they have rolled away the stone from the mouth of the well, and we have watered the flock.”
Οι δε είπον, Δεν δυνάμεθα, εωσού συναχθώσι πάντα τα ποίμνια, και να αποκυλίσωσι τον λίθον από του στομίου του φρέατος· τότε ποτίζομεν τα πρόβατα.
9 He is yet speaking with them, and Rachel has come with the flock which her father has, for she [is] shepherdess;
Και ενώ ακόμη ελάλει προς αυτούς, ήλθεν η Ραχήλ μετά των προβάτων του πατρός αυτής· διότι αυτή έβοσκε.
10 and it comes to pass, when Jacob has seen Rachel, daughter of his mother’s brother Laban, and the flock of his mother’s brother Laban, that Jacob comes near and rolls the stone from off the mouth of the well, and waters the flock of his mother’s brother Laban.
Και ως είδεν ο Ιακώβ την Ραχήλ, θυγατέρα του Λάβαν του αδελφού της μητρός αυτού, και τα πρόβατα του Λάβαν του αδελφού της μητρός αυτού, επλησίασεν ο Ιακώβ και απεκύλισε τον λίθον από του στομίου του φρέατος, και επότισε τα πρόβατα του Λάβαν, του αδελφού της μητρός αυτού.
11 And Jacob kisses Rachel, and lifts up his voice, and weeps,
Και εφίλησεν ο Ιακώβ την Ραχήλ και υψώσας την φωνήν αυτού έκλαυσε.
12 and Jacob declares to Rachel that he [is] her father’s brother, and that he [is] Rebekah’s son, and she runs and declares [it] to her father.
Και απήγγειλεν ο Ιακώβ προς την Ραχήλ, ότι είναι αδελφός του πατρός αυτής, και ότι είναι υιός της Ρεβέκκας· και εκείνη δραμούσα απήγγειλε τούτο εις τον πατέρα αυτής.
13 And it comes to pass, when Laban hears the report of his sister’s son Jacob, that he runs to meet him, and embraces him, and kisses him, and brings him into his house; and he recounts to Laban all these things,
Και ως ήκουσεν ο Λάβαν το όνομα του Ιακώβ του υιού της αδελφής αυτού, έδραμεν εις συνάντησιν αυτού· και εναγκαλισθείς αυτόν, εφίλησεν αυτόν και έφερεν αυτόν εις την οικίαν αυτού· και διηγήθη ο Ιακώβ προς τον Λάβαν πάντα τα γενόμενα.
14 and Laban says to him, “You [are] surely my bone and my flesh”; and he dwells with him a month of days.
Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Λάβαν, Βέβαια οστούν μου και σαρξ μου είσαι. Και κατώκησε μετ' αυτού ένα μήνα.
15 And Laban says to Jacob, “Is it because you [are] my brother that you have served me for nothing? Declare to me what your hire [is].”
Και είπεν ο Λάβαν προς τον Ιακώβ, Επειδή είσαι αδελφός μου, διά τούτο θέλεις με δουλεύει δωρεάν; ειπέ μοι, τις θέλει είσθαι ο μισθός σου;
16 And Laban has two daughters, the name of the older [is] Leah, and the name of the younger Rachel,
Είχε δε Λάβαν δύο θυγατέρας· το όνομα της πρεσβυτέρας, Λεία, και το όνομα της μικροτέρας Ραχήλ.
17 and the eyes of Leah [are] tender, and Rachel has been beautiful of form and beautiful of appearance.
Και της μεν Λείας οι οφθαλμοί ήσαν ασθενείς· η δε Ραχήλ ήτο ευειδής και ώραία την όψιν.
18 And Jacob loves Rachel and says, “I serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter”:
Και ηγάπησεν ο Ιακώβ την Ραχήλ· και είπε, Θέλω σε δουλεύει επτά έτη διά την Ραχήλ, την θυγατέρα σου την μικροτέραν.
19 and Laban says, “It is better for me to give her to you than to give her to another man; dwell with me”;
Και είπεν ο Λάβαν, Καλήτερα να δώσω αυτήν εις σε, παρά να δώσω αυτήν εις άλλον άνδρα· κατοίκησον μετ' εμού.
20 and Jacob serves for Rachel seven years; and they are in his eyes as some days, because of his loving her.
Και εδούλευσεν ο Ιακώβ διά την Ραχήλ επτά έτη· και εφαίνοντο εις αυτόν ως ημέραι ολίγαι, διά την προς αυτήν αγάπην αυτού.
21 And Jacob says to Laban, “Give up my wife, for my days have been fulfilled, and I go in to her”;
Και είπεν ο Ιακώβ προς τον Λάβαν, Δος μοι την γυναίκα μου, διότι επληρώθησαν αι ημέραι μου, διά να εισέλθω προς αυτήν.
22 and Laban gathers all the men of the place, and makes a banquet.
Και συνήγαγεν ο Λάβαν πάντας τους ανθρώπους του τόπου και έκαμε συμπόσιον.
23 And it comes to pass in the evening, that he takes his daughter Leah, and brings her to him, and he goes in to her;
Και το εσπέρας, λαβών την Λείαν την θυγατέρα αυτού, έφερεν αυτήν προς αυτόν· και εισήλθε προς αυτήν.
24 and Laban gives his maidservant Zilpah to her, to his daughter Leah, [for] a maidservant.
Και έδωκεν ο Λάβαν εις Λείαν την θυγατέρα αυτού, διά θεράπαιναν αυτής, Ζελφάν την θεράπαιναν αυτού.
25 And it comes to pass in the morning, that behold, it [is] Leah; and he says to Laban, “What [is] this you have done to me? Have I not served with you for Rachel? And why have you deceived me?”
Και το πρωΐ, ιδού, αύτη ήτο η Λεία· και είπε προς τον Λάβαν, Τι τούτο το οποίον έπραξας εις εμέ; δεν σε εδούλευσα διά την Ραχήλ; και διά τι με ηπάτησας;
26 And Laban says, “It is not done so in our place, to give the younger before the firstborn;
Και είπεν ο Λάβαν, Δεν γίνεται ούτως εν τω τόπω ημών, να δίδωται η μικροτέρα προ της πρεσβυτέρας·
27 fulfill the period of seven [for] this one, and we also give to you this one, for the service which you serve with me yet seven other years.”
εκπλήρωσον την εβδομάδα ταύτης, και θέλω σοι δώσει και αυτήν, αντί της εργασίας την οποίαν θέλεις κάμει εις εμέ ακόμη άλλα επτά έτη.
28 And Jacob does so, and fulfills the period of seven [for] this one, and he gives his daughter Rachel to him for a wife for him;
Και έκαμεν ο Ιακώβ ούτω και εξεπλήρωσε την εβδομάδα αυτής· και έδωκεν εις αυτόν την Ραχήλ την θυγατέρα αυτού εις γυναίκα.
29 and Laban gives his maidservant Bilhah to his daughter Rachel for a maidservant for her.
Και έδωκεν ο Λάβαν εις Ραχήλ την θυγατέρα αυτού, διά θεράπαιναν αυτής, Βαλλάν την θεράπαιναν αυτού.
30 And he also goes in to Rachel, and he also loves Rachel more than Leah; and he serves with him yet seven other years.
Και εισήλθεν ο Ιακώβ και προς την Ραχήλ· και ηγάπησε την Ραχήλ περισσότερον παρά την Λείαν· και εδούλευσεν αυτόν ακόμη άλλα επτά έτη.
31 And YHWH sees that Leah [is] the hated one, and He opens her womb, and Rachel [is] barren;
Και ιδών ο Κύριος ότι εμισείτο η Λεία, ήνοιξε την μήτραν αυτής· η δε Ραχήλ ήτο στείρα.
32 and Leah conceives, and bears a son, and calls his name Reuben, for she said, “Because YHWH has looked on my affliction; because now does my husband love me.”
Και συνέλαβεν η Λεία και εγέννησεν υιόν και εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Ρουβήν· διότι είπεν, Είδε βέβαια ο Κύριος την ταπείνωσίν μου· τώρα λοιπόν θέλει με αγαπήσει ο ανήρ μου.
33 And she conceives again, and bears a son, and says, “Because YHWH has heard that I [am] the hated one, He also gives to me even this [one]”; and she calls his name Simeon.
Και συνέλαβε πάλιν και εγέννησεν υιόν· και είπεν, Επειδή ήκουσεν ο Κύριος ότι μισούμαι, διά τούτο μοι έδωκεν ακόμη και τούτον· και εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Συμεών.
34 And she conceives again and bears a son, and says, “Now [is] the time, my husband is joined to me, because I have born to him three sons,” therefore has [one] called his name Levi.
Και συνέλαβεν ακόμη και εγέννησεν υιόν· και είπε, Τώρα ταύτην την φοράν ο ανήρ μου θέλει ενωθή μετ' εμού, διότι εγέννησα εις αυτόν τρεις υιούς· διά τούτο ωνόμασεν αυτόν Λευΐ.
35 And she conceives again and bears a son, and this time says, “I praise YHWH”; therefore has she called his name Judah; and she ceases from bearing.
Και συνέλαβε πάλιν και εγέννησεν υιόν· και είπε, Ταύτην την φοράν θέλω δοξολογήσει τον Κύριον· διά τούτο εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Ιούδαν· και έπαυσε να γεννά.
