Genesis 19
1 And two of the messengers come toward Sodom at evening, and Lot is sitting at the gate of Sodom, and Lot sees, and rises to meet them, and bows himself—face to the earth,
१साँझ को वे दो दूत सदोम के पास आए; और लूत सदोम के फाटक के पास बैठा था। उनको देखकर वह उनसे भेंट करने के लिये उठा; और मुँह के बल झुककर दण्डवत् कर कहा;
2 and he says, “Now behold, my lords, please turn aside to the house of your servant, and lodge, and wash your feet—then you have risen early and gone on your way”; and they say, “No, but we lodge in the broad place.”
२“हे मेरे प्रभुओं, अपने दास के घर में पधारिए, और रात भर विश्राम कीजिए, और अपने पाँव धोइये, फिर भोर को उठकर अपने मार्ग पर जाइए।” उन्होंने कहा, “नहीं; हम चौक ही में रात बिताएँगे।”
3 And he presses on them greatly, and they turn aside to him, and come into his house; and he makes a banquet for them, and has baked unleavened things; and they eat.
३और उसने उनसे बहुत विनती करके उन्हें मनाया; इसलिए वे उसके साथ चलकर उसके घर में आए; और उसने उनके लिये भोजन तैयार किया, और बिना ख़मीर की रोटियाँ बनाकर उनको खिलाई।
4 Before they lie down, the men of the city—men of Sodom—have surrounded the house, from young even to aged, all the people from the extremity;
४उनके सो जाने के पहले, सदोम नगर के पुरुषों ने, जवानों से लेकर बूढ़ों तक, वरन् चारों ओर के सब लोगों ने आकर उस घर को घेर लिया;
5 and they call to Lot and say to him, “Where [are] the men who have come to you tonight? Bring them out to us, and we know them.”
५और लूत को पुकारकर कहने लगे, “जो पुरुष आज रात को तेरे पास आए हैं वे कहाँ हैं? उनको हमारे पास बाहर ले आ, कि हम उनसे भोग करें।”
6 And Lot goes out to them, to the opening, and the door has shut behind him,
६तब लूत उनके पास द्वार के बाहर गया, और किवाड़ को अपने पीछे बन्द करके कहा,
7 and says, “Please, my brothers, do not do evil;
७“हे मेरे भाइयों, ऐसी बुराई न करो।
8 now behold, I have two daughters who have not known anyone; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them as [is] good in your eyes; only do nothing to these men, for therefore they have come in within the shadow of my roof.”
८सुनो, मेरी दो बेटियाँ हैं जिन्होंने अब तक पुरुष का मुँह नहीं देखा, इच्छा हो तो मैं उन्हें तुम्हारे पास बाहर ले आऊँ, और तुम को जैसा अच्छा लगे वैसा व्यवहार उनसे करो: पर इन पुरुषों से कुछ न करो; क्योंकि ये मेरी छत के तले आए हैं।”
9 And they say, “Come near here”; they also say, “This one has come to sojourn, and he certainly judges! Now, we do evil to you more than [to] them”; and they press against the man, against Lot greatly, and come near to break the door.
९उन्होंने कहा, “हट जा!” फिर वे कहने लगे, “तू एक परदेशी होकर यहाँ रहने के लिये आया पर अब न्यायी भी बन बैठा है; इसलिए अब हम उनसे भी अधिक तेरे साथ बुराई करेंगे।” और वे उस पुरुष लूत को बहुत दबाने लगे, और किवाड़ तोड़ने के लिये निकट आए।
10 And the men put forth their hand, and bring in Lot to them, into the house, and have shut the door;
१०तब उन अतिथियों ने हाथ बढ़ाकर लूत को अपने पास घर में खींच लिया, और किवाड़ को बन्द कर दिया।
11 and the men who [are] at the opening of the house they have struck with blindness, from small even to great, and they weary themselves to find the opening.
११और उन्होंने क्या छोटे, क्या बड़े, सब पुरुषों को जो घर के द्वार पर थे अंधा कर दिया, अतः वे द्वार को टटोलते-टटोलते थक गए।
12 And the men say to Lot, “Whom have you here still? Son-in-law, your sons also, and your daughters, and all whom you have in the city, bring out from this place;
१२फिर उन अतिथियों ने लूत से पूछा, “यहाँ तेरा और कौन-कौन हैं? दामाद, बेटे, बेटियाँ, और नगर में तेरा जो कोई हो, उन सभी को लेकर इस स्थान से निकल जा।
13 for we are destroying this place, for their cry has been great [before] the face of YHWH, and YHWH does send us to destroy it.”
१३क्योंकि हम यह स्थान नाश करने पर हैं, इसलिए कि इसकी चिल्लाहट यहोवा के सम्मुख बढ़ गई है; और यहोवा ने हमें इसका सत्यानाश करने के लिये भेज दिया है।”
14 And Lot goes out and speaks to his sons-in-law, those taking his daughters, and says, “Rise, go out from this place, for YHWH is destroying the city”; and he is as [one] mocking in the eyes of his sons-in-law.
१४तब लूत ने निकलकर अपने दामादों को, जिनके साथ उसकी बेटियों की सगाई हो गई थी, समझाकर कहा, “उठो, इस स्थान से निकल चलो; क्योंकि यहोवा इस नगर को नाश करने पर है।” उसके दामाद उसका मजाक उड़ाने लगे।
15 And when the dawn has ascended, then the messengers press on Lot, saying, “Rise, take your wife, and your two daughters who are found present, lest you are consumed in the iniquity of the city.”
१५जब पौ फटने लगी, तब दूतों ने लूत से जल्दी करने को कहा और बोले, “उठ, अपनी पत्नी और दोनों बेटियों को जो यहाँ हैं ले जा: नहीं तो तू भी इस नगर के अधर्म में भस्म हो जाएगा।”
16 And he lingers, and the men lay hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, through the mercy of YHWH to him, and they bring him out, and cause him to rest outside the city.
१६पर वह विलम्ब करता रहा, इस पर उन पुरुषों ने उसका और उसकी पत्नी, और दोनों बेटियों के हाथ पकड़े; क्योंकि यहोवा की दया उस पर थी: और उसको निकालकर नगर के बाहर कर दिया।
17 And it comes to pass, when he has brought them outside, that he says, “Escape for your life; do not look behind you, nor stand in all the circuit; escape to the mountain, lest you are consumed.”
१७और ऐसा हुआ कि जब उन्होंने उनको बाहर निकाला, तब उसने कहा, “अपना प्राण लेकर भाग जा; पीछे की ओर न ताकना, और तराई भर में न ठहरना; उस पहाड़ पर भाग जाना, नहीं तो तू भी भस्म हो जाएगा।”
18 And Lot says to them, “Oh not [so], my lord;
१८लूत ने उनसे कहा, “हे प्रभु, ऐसा न कर!
19 now behold, your servant has found grace in your eyes, and you make great your kindness which you have done with me by saving my life, and I am unable to escape to the mountain, lest the evil cleave [to] me and I have died;
१९देख, तेरे दास पर तेरी अनुग्रह की दृष्टि हुई है, और तूने इसमें बड़ी कृपा दिखाई, कि मेरे प्राण को बचाया है; पर मैं पहाड़ पर भाग नहीं सकता, कहीं ऐसा न हो, कि कोई विपत्ति मुझ पर आ पड़े, और मैं मर जाऊँ।
20 now behold, this city [is] near to flee there, and it [is] little; please let me escape there (is it not little?) that my soul may live.”
२०देख, वह नगर ऐसा निकट है कि मैं वहाँ भाग सकता हूँ, और वह छोटा भी है। मुझे वहीं भाग जाने दे, क्या वह नगर छोटा नहीं है? और मेरा प्राण बच जाएगा।”
21 And he says to him, “Behold, I have also accepted your face for this thing, without overthrowing the city [for] which you have spoken;
२१उसने उससे कहा, “देख, मैंने इस विषय में भी तेरी विनती स्वीकार की है, कि जिस नगर की चर्चा तूने की है, उसको मैं नाश न करूँगा।
22 hurry, escape there, for I am not able to do anything until your entering there”; therefore he calls the name of the city Zoar.
२२फुर्ती से वहाँ भाग जा; क्योंकि जब तक तू वहाँ न पहुँचे तब तक मैं कुछ न कर सकूँगा।” इसी कारण उस नगर का नाम सोअर पड़ा।
23 The sun has gone out on the earth, and Lot has entered into Zoar,
२३लूत के सोअर के निकट पहुँचते ही सूर्य पृथ्वी पर उदय हुआ।
24 and YHWH has rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah brimstone and fire from YHWH, from the heavens;
२४तब यहोवा ने अपनी ओर से सदोम और गमोरा पर आकाश से गन्धक और आग बरसाई;
25 and He overthrows these cities, and all the circuit, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which is shooting up from the ground.
२५और उन नगरों को और सम्पूर्ण तराई को, और नगरों के सब निवासियों को, भूमि की सारी उपज समेत नाश कर दिया।
26 And his wife looks from behind him, and she becomes a pillar of salt!
२६लूत की पत्नी ने जो उसके पीछे थी पीछे मुड़कर देखा, और वह नमक का खम्भा बन गई।
27 And Abraham rises early in the morning to the place where he has stood [before] the face of YHWH;
२७भोर को अब्राहम उठकर उस स्थान को गया, जहाँ वह यहोवा के सम्मुख खड़ा था;
28 and he looks on the face of Sodom and Gomorrah, and on all the face of the land of the circuit, and sees, and behold, the smoke of the land went up as smoke of the furnace.
२८और सदोम, और गमोरा, और उस तराई के सारे देश की ओर आँख उठाकर क्या देखा कि उस देश में से धधकती हुई भट्ठी का सा धुआँ उठ रहा है।
29 And it comes to pass, in God’s destroying the cities of the circuit, that God remembers Abraham, and sends Lot out of the midst of the overthrow in the overthrowing of the cities in which Lot dwelt.
२९और ऐसा हुआ कि जब परमेश्वर ने उस तराई के नगरों को, जिनमें लूत रहता था, उलट-पुलट कर नाश किया, तब उसने अब्राहम को याद करके लूत को उस घटना से बचा लिया।
30 And Lot goes up out of Zoar, and dwells in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, for he has been afraid of dwelling in Zoar, and he dwells in a cave, he and his two daughters.
३०लूत ने सोअर को छोड़ दिया, और पहाड़ पर अपनी दोनों बेटियों समेत रहने लगा; क्योंकि वह सोअर में रहने से डरता था; इसलिए वह और उसकी दोनों बेटियाँ वहाँ एक गुफा में रहने लगे।
31 And the firstborn says to the younger, “Our father [is] old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us, as [is] the way of all the earth;
३१तब बड़ी बेटी ने छोटी से कहा, “हमारा पिता बूढ़ा है, और पृथ्वी भर में कोई ऐसा पुरुष नहीं जो संसार की रीति के अनुसार हमारे पास आए।
32 come, we cause our father to drink wine, and lie with him, and preserve a seed from our father.”
३२इसलिए आ, हम अपने पिता को दाखमधु पिलाकर, उसके साथ सोएँ, जिससे कि हम अपने पिता के वंश को बचाए रखें।”
33 And they cause their father to drink wine on that night; and the firstborn goes in and lies with her father, and he has not known in her lying down or in her rising up.
३३अतः उन्होंने उसी दिन-रात के समय अपने पिता को दाखमधु पिलाया, तब बड़ी बेटी जाकर अपने पिता के पास लेट गई; पर उसने न जाना, कि वह कब लेटी, और कब उठ गई।
34 And it comes to pass, on the next day, that the firstborn says to the younger, “Behold, I have lain with my father last night: we also cause him to drink wine tonight, then go in, lie with him, and we preserve a seed from our father.”
३४और ऐसा हुआ कि दूसरे दिन बड़ी ने छोटी से कहा, “देख, कल रात को मैं अपने पिता के साथ सोई; इसलिए आज भी रात को हम उसको दाखमधु पिलाएँ; तब तू जाकर उसके साथ सोना कि हम अपने पिता के द्वारा वंश उत्पन्न करें।”
35 And they cause their father to drink wine on that night also, and the younger rises and lies with him, and he has not known in her lying down or in her rising up.
३५अतः उन्होंने उस दिन भी रात के समय अपने पिता को दाखमधु पिलाया, और छोटी बेटी जाकर उसके पास लेट गई; पर उसको उसके भी सोने और उठने का ज्ञान न था।
36 And the two daughters of Lot conceive from their father,
३६इस प्रकार से लूत की दोनों बेटियाँ अपने पिता से गर्भवती हुईं।
37 and the firstborn bears a son and calls his name Moab: he [is] father of Moab to this day.
३७बड़ी एक पुत्र जनी और उसका नाम मोआब रखा; वह मोआब नामक जाति का जो आज तक है मूलपिता हुआ।
38 As for the younger, she has also born a son and calls his name Ben-Ammi: he [is] father of the sons of Ammon to this day.
३८और छोटी भी एक पुत्र जनी, और उसका नाम बेनअम्मी रखा; वह अम्मोनवंशियों का जो आज तक है मूलपिता हुआ।
