Genesis 14

1 And it comes to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations,

در آن زمان امرافل پادشاه بابِل، اریوک پادشاه الاسار، کَدُرلاعُمَر پادشاه عیلام و تدعال پادشاه قوئیم،

2 they have made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which [is] Zoar.

با پادشاهان زیر وارد جنگ شدند: بارع پادشاه سدوم، برشاع پادشاه عموره، شنعاب پادشاه ادمه، شم‌ئیبر پادشاه صبوئیم، و پادشاه بالع (بالع همان صوغر است).

3 All these have been joined together to the Valley of Siddim, which [is] the Salt Sea;

پس پادشاهان سدوم، عموره، ادمه، صبوئیم و بالع با هم متحد شده، لشکرهای خود را در درۀ سدّیم که همان درۀ دریای مرده است، بسیج نمودند.

4 [for] twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and the thirteenth year they rebelled.

ایشان دوازده سال زیر سلطهٔ کدرلاعمر بودند. اما در سال سیزدهم شورش نمودند و از فرمان وی سرپیچی کردند.

5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings who [are] with him, and they strike the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

در سال چهاردهم، کدرلاعمر با پادشاهان هم‌پیمانش به این قبایل حمله برده، آنها را شکست داد: رفائی‌ها در زمین عشتروت قرنین، زوزی‌ها در هام، ایمی‌ها در دشت قریتین،

6 and the Horites in their Mount Seir, to El-Paran, which [is] by the wilderness;

حوری‌ها در کوه سعیر تا ایل فاران واقع در حاشیهٔ صحرا.

7 and they turn back and come to En-Mishpat, which [is] Kadesh, and strike the whole field of the Amalekite, and also the Amorite who is dwelling in Hazezon-Tamar.

سپس به عین مشفاط (که بعداً قادش نامیده شد) رفتند و عمالیقی‌ها و همچنین اموری‌ها را که در حَصّون تامار ساکن بودند، شکست دادند.

8 And the king of Sodom goes out, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which [is] Zoar; and they set in array [for] battle with them in the Valley of Siddim,

آنگاه لشکریان پادشاهان سدوم، عموره، ادمه، صبوئیم و بالع (صوغر) بیرون آمده، در وادی سِدّیم صف‌آرایی کردند.

9 with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with the five.

آنها با کدرلاعمر پادشاه عیلام، تدعال پادشاه گوییم، امرافل پادشاه بابِل، و اریوک پادشاه الاسار وارد جنگ شدند؛ چهار پادشاه علیه پنج پادشاه.

10 And the Valley of Siddim [is] full of bitumen-pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah flee, and fall there, and those left have fled to the mountain.

درهٔ سدّیم پُر از چاههای قیر طبیعی بود. وقتی پادشاهان سدوم و عموره می‌گریختند، به داخل چاههای قیر افتادند، اما سه پادشاه دیگر به کوهستان فرار کردند.

11 And they take the whole substance of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the whole of their food, and go away;

پس پادشاهان فاتح، شهرهای سدوم و عموره را غارت کردند و همهٔ اموال و مواد غذایی آنها را بردند.

12 and they take Lot, Abram’s brother’s son (seeing he is dwelling in Sodom), and his substance, and go away.

آنها لوط، برادرزادهٔ ابرام را نیز که در سدوم ساکن بود، با تمام اموالش با خود بردند.

13 And one who is escaping comes and declares to Abram the Hebrew, and he is dwelling among the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner, and they [are] Abram’s allies.

یکی از مردانی که از چنگ دشمن گریخته بود، این خبر را به ابرامِ عبرانی رساند. در این موقع ابرام در بلوطستانِ ممری اموری زندگی می‌کرد. (ممری اموری برادر اشکول و عانر بود که با ابرام همپیمان بودند.)

14 And Abram hears that his brother has been taken captive, and he draws out his trained servants, three hundred and eighteen, and pursues to Dan.

چون ابرام از اسیری برادرزاده‌اش لوط آگاهی یافت، ۳۱۸ نفر از افراد کارآزمودهٔ خود را آماده کرد و سپاه دشمن را تا دان تعقیب نمود.

15 And he divides himself against them by night, he and his servants, and strikes them, and pursues them to Hobah, which [is] at the left of Damascus;

شبانگاه ابرام همراهان خود را به چند گروه تقسیم کرده، بر دشمن حمله برد و ایشان را تار و مار کرد و تا حوبَه که در شمالِ دمشق واقع شده است، تعقیب نمود.

16 and he brings back the whole of the substance, and he has also brought back his brother Lot and his substance, and also the women and the people.

ابرام، برادرزاده‌اش لوط و زنان و مردانی را که اسیر شده بودند، با همهٔ اموالِ غارت شده پس گرفت.

17 And the king of Sodom goes out to meet him (after his turning back from the striking of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings who [are] with him), to the Valley of Shaveh, which [is] the king’s valley.

هنگامی که ابرام کدرلاعمر و پادشاهان همپیمان او را شکست داده، مراجعت می‌نمود، پادشاه سدوم تا درهٔ شاوه (که بعدها درهٔ پادشاه نامیده شد) به استقبال ابرام آمد.

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem has brought out bread and wine, and he [is] priest of God Most High;

همچنین مِلکیصِدِق، پادشاه سالیم که کاهن خدای متعال هم بود، برای ابرام نان و شراب آورد.

19 and he blesses him and says, “Blessed [is] Abram to God Most High, possessing the heavens and earth;

آنگاه مِلکیصِدِق، ابرام را برکت داد و چنین گفت: «مبارک باد اَبرام از جانب خدای متعال، خالق آسمان و زمین.

20 and blessed [is] God Most High, who has delivered your adversaries into your hand”; and he gives to him a tenth of all.

و متبارک باد خدای متعال، که دشمنانت را به دستت تسلیم کرد.» سپس ابرام از غنائم جنگی، به مِلکیصِدِق ده‌یک داد.

21 And the king of Sodom says to Abram, “Give to me the persons, and take the substance to yourself,”

پادشاه سدوم به ابرام گفت: «مردمِ مرا به من واگذار، ولی اموال را برای خود نگاه دار.»

22 and Abram says to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to YHWH, God Most High, possessing the heavens and earth—

ابرام در جواب گفت: «قسم به یهوه خدا، خدای متعال، خالق آسمان و زمین،

23 from a thread even to a shoe-strap I do not take of anything which you have, that you do not say, I have made Abram rich;

که حتی یک سر سوزن از اموال تو را برنمی‌دارم، مبادا بگویی من ابرام را ثروتمند ساختم.

24 save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who have gone with me—Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre—they take their portion.”

تنها چیزی که می‌پذیرم، خوراکی است که افراد من خورده‌اند؛ اما سهم عانر و اشکول و ممری را که همراه من با دشمن جنگیدند، به ایشان بده.»
