Genesis 10
1 And these [are] the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and sons are born to them after the flood.
ノアの子セム、ハム、ヤペテの系図は次のとおりである。洪水の後、彼らに子が生れた。
2 Sons of Japheth [are] Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
ヤペテの子孫はゴメル、マゴグ、マダイ、ヤワン、トバル、メセク、テラスであった。
3 And sons of Gomer [are] Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
ゴメルの子孫はアシケナズ、リパテ、トガルマ。
4 And sons of Javan [are] Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
ヤワンの子孫はエリシャ、タルシシ、キッテム、ドダニムであった。
5 By these the islands of the nations have been parted in their lands, each by his tongue, by their families, in their nations.
これらから海沿いの地の国民が分れて、おのおのその土地におり、その言語にしたがい、その氏族にしたがって、その国々に住んだ。
6 And sons of Ham [are] Cush, and Mitzraim, and Phut, and Canaan.
ハムの子孫はクシ、ミツライム、プテ、カナンであった。
7 And sons of Cush [are] Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah; and sons of Raamah [are] Sheba and Dedan.
クシの子孫はセバ、ハビラ、サブタ、ラアマ、サブテカであり、ラアマの子孫はシバとデダンであった。
8 And Cush has begotten Nimrod;
クシの子はニムロデであって、このニムロデは世の権力者となった最初の人である。
9 he has begun to be a hero in the land; he has been a hero in hunting before YHWH; therefore it is said, “As Nimrod the hero [in] hunting before YHWH.”
彼は主の前に力ある狩猟者であった。これから「主の前に力ある狩猟者ニムロデのごとし」ということわざが起った。
10 And the first part of his kingdom is Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar;
彼の国は最初シナルの地にあるバベル、エレク、アカデ、カルネであった。
11 from that land he has gone out to Asshur, and builds Nineveh, even the broad places of the city, and Calah,
彼はその地からアッスリヤに出て、ニネベ、レホボテイリ、カラ、
12 and Resen, between Nineveh and Calah; it [is] the great city.
およびニネベとカラとの間にある大いなる町レセンを建てた。
13 And Mitzraim has begotten the Ludim, and the Anamim, and the Lehabim, and the Naphtuhim,
ミツライムからルデ族、アナミ族、レハビ族、ナフト族、
14 and the Pathrusim, and the Casluhim (from where have come out Philistim), and the Caphtorim.
パテロス族、カスル族、カフトリ族が出た。カフトリ族からペリシテ族が出た。
15 And Canaan has begotten Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,
カナンからその長子シドンが出て、またヘテが出た。
16 and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite,
その他エブスびと、アモリびと、ギルガシびと、
17 and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,
ヒビびと、アルキびと、セニびと、
18 and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanite have been scattered.
アルワデびと、ゼマリびと、ハマテびとが出た。後になってカナンびとの氏族がひろがった。
19 And the border of the Canaanite is from Sidon, [in] your coming toward Gerar, to Gaza; [in] your coming toward Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, to Lasha.
カナンびとの境はシドンからゲラルを経てガザに至り、ソドム、ゴモラ、アデマ、ゼボイムを経て、レシャに及んだ。
20 These [are] sons of Ham, by their families, by their tongues, in their lands, in their nations.
これらはハムの子孫であって、その氏族とその言語とにしたがって、その土地と、その国々にいた。
21 As for Shem, father of all sons of Eber, the older brother of Japheth, he has also begotten.
セムにも子が生れた。セムはエベルのすべての子孫の先祖であって、ヤペテの兄であった。
22 Sons of Shem [are] Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
セムの子孫はエラム、アシュル、アルパクサデ、ルデ、アラムであった。
23 And sons of Aram [are] Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
アラムの子孫はウヅ、ホル、ゲテル、マシであった。
24 And Arphaxad has begotten Salah, and Salah has begotten Eber.
アルパクサデの子はシラ、シラの子はエベルである。
25 And two sons have been born to Eber; the name of the first [is] Peleg (for in his days the earth has been divided), and his brother’s name [is] Joktan.
エベルにふたりの子が生れた。そのひとりの名をペレグといった。これは彼の代に地の民が分れたからである。その弟の名をヨクタンといった。
26 And Joktan has begotten Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,
ヨクタンにアルモダデ、シャレフ、ハザルマウテ、エラ、
27 and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,
ハドラム、ウザル、デクラ、
28 and Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,
オバル、アビマエル、シバ、
29 and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab; all these [are] sons of Joktan;
オフル、ハビラ、ヨバブが生れた。これらは皆ヨクタンの子であった。
30 and their dwelling is from Mesha, [in] your coming toward Sephar, a mountain of the east.
彼らが住んだ所はメシャから東の山地セパルに及んだ。
31 These [are] sons of Shem, by their families, by their tongues, in their lands, by their nations.
これらはセムの子孫であって、その氏族とその言語とにしたがって、その土地と、その国々にいた。
32 These [are] families of the sons of Noah, by their generations, in their nations, and by these the nations have been parted in the earth after the flood.
これらはノアの子らの氏族であって、血統にしたがって国々に住んでいたが、洪水の後、これらから地上の諸国民が分れたのである。
