Genesis 1
1 In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth,
Im Anfang schuf Gott den Himmel und die Erde;
2 and the earth was formless and void, and darkness [was] on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God [was] fluttering on the face of the waters,
die Erde war aber eine Wüstenei und Öde, und Finsternis lag über der weiten Flut, und der Geist Gottes schwebte (brütend) über der Wasserfläche.
3 and God says, “Let light be”; and light is.
Da sprach Gott: »Es werde Licht!«, und es ward Licht.
4 And God sees that the light [is] good, and God separates between the light and the darkness,
Und Gott sah, daß das Licht gut war; da schied Gott das Licht von der Finsternis
5 and God calls the light “Day,” and the darkness He has called “Night”; and there is an evening, and there is a morning—day one.
und nannte das Licht »Tag«, der Finsternis aber gab er den Namen »Nacht«. Und es wurde Abend und wurde Morgen: erster Tag.
6 And God says, “Let an expanse be in the midst of the waters, and let it be separating between waters and waters.”
Dann sprach Gott: »Es entstehe ein festes Gewölbe inmitten der Wasser und bilde eine Scheidewand zwischen den beiderseitigen Wassern!« Und es geschah so.
7 And God makes the expanse, and it separates between the waters which [are] under the expanse, and the waters which [are] above the expanse: and it is so.
So machte Gott das feste Gewölbe und schied dadurch die Wasser unterhalb des Gewölbes von den Wassern oberhalb des Gewölbes.
8 And God calls the expanse “Heavens”; and there is an evening, and there is a morning—[the] second day.
Und Gott nannte das feste Gewölbe »Himmel«. Und es wurde Abend und wurde Morgen: zweiter Tag.
9 And God says, “Let the waters under the heavens be collected to one place, and let the dry land be seen”: and it is so.
Dann sprach Gott: »Es sammle sich das Wasser unterhalb des Himmels an einen besonderen Ort, damit das Trockene sichtbar wird!« Und es geschah so.
10 And God calls the dry land “Earth,” and the collection of the waters He has called “Seas”; and God sees that [it is] good.
Und Gott nannte das Trockene »Erde«, dem Wasser aber, das sich gesammelt hatte, gab er den Namen »Meer«. Und Gott sah, daß es gut war. –
11 And God says, “Let the earth yield tender grass, herb sowing seed, fruit-tree (whose seed [is] in itself) making fruit after its kind, on the earth”: and it is so.
Dann sprach Gott: »Die Erde lasse junges Grün sprossen, samentragende Pflanzen und Bäume, die je nach ihrer Art Früchte mit Samen darin auf der Erde tragen!« Und es geschah so:
12 And the earth brings forth tender grass, herb sowing seed after its kind, and tree making fruit (whose seed [is] in itself) after its kind; and God sees that [it is] good;
die Erde ließ junges Grün hervorgehen, Kräuter, die je nach ihrer Art Samen trugen, und Bäume, die Früchte mit Samen darin je nach ihrer Art trugen. Und Gott sah, daß es gut war.
13 and there is an evening, and there is a morning—[the] third day.
Und es wurde Abend und wurde Morgen: dritter Tag.
14 And God says, “Let luminaries be in the expanse of the heavens, to make a separation between the day and the night, then they have been for signs, and for appointed times, and for days and years,
Dann sprach Gott: »Es sollen Lichter am Himmelsgewölbe entstehen, um Tag und Nacht voneinander zu scheiden; die sollen Merkzeichen sein und zur (Bestimmung von) Festzeiten sowie zur (Zählung von) Tagen und Jahren dienen;
15 and they have been for luminaries in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”: and it is so.
und sie sollen Lichter am Himmelsgewölbe sein, um Licht über die Erde zu verbreiten!« Und es geschah so.
16 And God makes the two great luminaries, the great luminary for the rule of the day, and the small luminary—and the stars—for the rule of the night;
Da machte Gott die beiden großen Lichter: das größere Licht zur Herrschaft über den Tag und das kleinere Licht zur Herrschaft über die Nacht, dazu auch die Sterne.
17 and God gives them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,
Gott setzte sie dann an das Himmelsgewölbe, damit sie Licht über die Erde verbreiteten
18 and to rule over day and over night, and to make a separation between the light and the darkness; and God sees that [it is] good;
und am Tage und in der Nacht die Herrschaft führten und das Licht von der Finsternis schieden. Und Gott sah, daß es gut war.
19 and there is an evening, and there is a morning—[the] fourth day.
Und es wurde Abend und wurde Morgen: vierter Tag.
20 And God says, “Let the waters teem with the teeming living creature, and let [the] bird fly above the earth on the face of the expanse of the heavens.”
Dann sprach Gott: »Es wimmle das Wasser von einem Gewimmel lebender Wesen, und Vögel sollen über der Erde am Himmelsgewölbe hin fliegen!«
21 And God creates the great dragons, and every living creature that is creeping, which the waters have teemed with, after their kind, and every bird with wing, after its kind, and God sees that [it is] good.
Da schuf Gott die großen Seetiere und alle Arten der kleinen Lebewesen, die da sich regen, von denen die Gewässer wimmeln, dazu alle Arten der beschwingten Vögel. Und Gott sah, daß es gut war.
22 And God blesses them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the bird multiply in the earth”:
Da segnete Gott sie mit den Worten: »Seid fruchtbar und mehret euch und erfüllet das Wasser in den Meeren, und auch die Vögel sollen sich auf der Erde mehren!«
23 and there is an evening, and there is a morning—[the] fifth day.
Und es wurde Abend und wurde Morgen: fünfter Tag.
24 And God says, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, livestock and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after its kind”: and it is so.
Dann sprach Gott: »Die Erde bringe alle Arten lebender Wesen hervor, Vieh, Kriechgetier und wilde Landtiere, jedes nach seiner Art!« Und es geschah so.
25 And God makes the beast of the earth after its kind, and the livestock after their kind, and every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, and God sees that [it is] good.
Da machte Gott alle Arten der wilden Landtiere und alle Arten des Viehs und alles Getier, das auf dem Erdboden kriecht, jedes nach seiner Art. Und Gott sah, daß es gut war. –
26 And God says, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over [the] fish of the sea, and over [the] bird of the heavens, and over livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that is creeping on the earth.”
Dann sprach Gott: »Laßt uns Menschen machen nach unserm Bilde, uns ähnlich, die da herrschen sollen über die Fische im Meer und über die Vögel des Himmels, über das (zahme) Vieh und über alle (wilden) Landtiere und über alles Gewürm, das auf dem Erdboden kriecht!«
27 And God creates the man in His image; in the image of God He created him, a male and a female He created them.
Da schuf Gott den Menschen nach seinem Bilde: nach dem Bilde Gottes schuf er ihn; als Mann und Weib schuf er sie.
28 And God blesses them, and God says to them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over [the] fish of the sea, and over [the] bird of the heavens, and over every living thing that is creeping on the earth.”
Gott segnete sie dann mit den Worten: »Seid fruchtbar und mehrt euch, füllt die Erde an und macht sie euch untertan und herrscht über die Fische im Meer und über die Vögel des Himmels und über alle Lebewesen, die auf der Erde sich regen!«
29 And God says, “Behold, I have given to you every herb sowing seed, which [is] on the face of all the earth, and every tree in which [is] the fruit of a tree sowing seed, to you it is for food;
Dann fuhr Gott fort: »Hiermit übergebe ich euch alle samentragenden Pflanzen auf der ganzen Erde und alle Bäume mit samentragenden Früchten: die sollen euch zur Nahrung dienen!
30 and to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to every creeping thing on the earth, in which [is] breath of life, every green herb [is] for food”: and it is so.
Aber allen Tieren der Erde und allen Vögeln des Himmels und allem, was auf der Erde kriecht, was Lebensodem in sich hat, weise ich alles grüne Kraut der Pflanzen zur Nahrung an.« Und es geschah so.
31 And God sees all that He has done, and behold, [it is] very good; and there is an evening, and there is a morning—the sixth day.
Und Gott sah alles an, was er geschaffen hatte, und siehe: es war sehr gut. Und es wurde Abend und wurde Morgen: der sechste Tag.
