Ezra 5
1 And the prophets have prophesied (Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah son of Iddo) to the Jews who [are] in Judah and in Jerusalem, in the Name of the God of Israel—to them.
Los profetas Hageo y Zacarías, hijo de Iddo, profetizaron a los judíos que estaban en Judá y Jerusalén. Les profetizaron en nombre del Dios de Israel.
2 Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, have risen, and begun to build the house of God, that [is] in Jerusalem, and with them are the prophets of God supporting them.
Entonces Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, y Jesúa, hijo de Josadac, se levantaron y comenzaron a edificar la casa de Dios que está en Jerusalén; y con ellos estaban los profetas de Dios, ayudándoles.
3 At that time have come to them Tatnai, governor beyond the river, and Shethar-Boznai, and their companions, and thus they are saying to them, “Who has made for you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?”
Al mismo tiempo Tattenai, el gobernador del otro lado del río, se acercó a ellos, con Shetharbozenai y sus compañeros, y les preguntó: “¿Quién les dio un decreto para construir esta casa y terminar este muro?”
4 Then we have said thus to them, “What [are] the names of the men who are building this building?”
También preguntaron por los nombres de los hombres que estaban haciendo este edificio.
5 And the eye of their God has been on [the] elders of [the] Jews, and they have not caused them to cease until [the] matter goes to Darius, and then they send back a letter concerning this thing.
Pero el ojo de su Dios estaba sobre los ancianos de los judíos, y no los hicieron cesar hasta que el asunto llegara a Darío y se les respondiera por carta al respecto.
6 The copy of a letter that Tatnai, governor beyond the river, has sent, and Shethar-Boznai and his companions, the Apharsachites who [are] beyond the river, to Darius the king.
A continuación se presenta la copia de la carta que Tattenai, el gobernador del otro lado del río, y Shetharbozenai, y sus compañeros los afarsacianos que estaban al otro lado del río, enviaron al rey Darío.
7 A letter they have sent to him, and thus is it written in it:
Le enviaron una carta en la que estaba escrito Al rey Darío, toda la paz.
8 “To Darius the king, all peace! Be it known to the king that we have gone to the province of Judah, to the great house of God, and it is built [with] rolled stones, and wood is placed in the walls, and this work is done speedily, and prospering in their hand.
Sepa el rey que fuimos a la provincia de Judá, a la casa del gran Dios, que se está construyendo con grandes piedras y se colocan maderas en las paredes. Esta obra avanza con diligencia y prospera en sus manos.
9 Then we have asked of these elders, thus we have said to them, Who has made for you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?
Entonces preguntamos a esos ancianos y les dijimos así: “¿Quién os ha dado el decreto de construir esta casa y de terminar este muro?”
10 And also their names we have asked of them, to let you know, that we might write the names of the men who [are] at their head.
Les preguntamos también sus nombres, para informarles de que podíamos escribir los nombres de los hombres que estaban a su cabeza.
11 And thus they have returned us word, saying, We [are] servants of the God of the heavens and earth, and are building the house that was built many years before this, that a great king of Israel built and finished:
Ellos nos respondieron diciendo: “Nosotros somos los siervos del Dios del cielo y de la tierra y estamos construyendo la casa que se edificó hace tantos años, que un gran rey de Israel construyó y terminó.
12 but after that our fathers made the God of the heavens angry, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon the Chaldean, and this house he destroyed, and the people he removed to Babylon;
Pero después que nuestros padres provocaron la ira del Dios del cielo, él los entregó en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, el caldeo, quien destruyó esta casa y llevó al pueblo a Babilonia.
13 but in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God,
Pero en el primer año de Ciro, rey de Babilonia, el rey Ciro hizo un decreto para construir esta casa de Dios.
14 and also, the vessels of the house of God, of gold and silver, that Nebuchadnezzar had taken forth out of the temple that [is] in Jerusalem, and brought them to the temple of Babylon, them has Cyrus the king brought forth out of the temple of Babylon, and they have been given to [one], Sheshbazzar [is] his name, whom he made governor,
Los utensilios de oro y plata de la casa de Dios, que Nabucodonosor sacó del templo que estaba en Jerusalén y los llevó al templo de Babilonia, los sacó también el rey Ciro del templo de Babilonia, y fueron entregados a uno que se llamaba Sesbasar, a quien había nombrado gobernador.
15 and said to him, Lift up these vessels, go, put them down in the temple that [is] in Jerusalem, and the house of God is built on its place.
Este le dijo: “Toma estos utensilios, ve y ponlos en el templo que está en Jerusalén, y que se construya la casa de Dios en su lugar”.
16 Then this Sheshbazzar has come—he has laid the foundations of the house of God that [is] in Jerusalem, and from there even until now it has been building, and is not finished.
Entonces vino el mismo Sesbasar y puso los cimientos de la casa de Dios que está en Jerusalén. Desde entonces hasta ahora se ha estado construyendo, y aún no se ha terminado.
17 And now, if it is good to the king, let a search be made in the treasure-house of the king, that [is] there in Babylon, whether it be that there was a decree made by Cyrus the king to build this house of God in Jerusalem, and the will of the king concerning this thing he sends to us.”
Ahora, pues, si al rey le parece bien, que se investigue en la casa del tesoro del rey, que está allí en Babilonia, si es cierto que el rey Ciro decretó la construcción de esta casa de Dios en Jerusalén; y que el rey nos envíe su beneplácito sobre este asunto.”
